DevilNurn
http://www.courant.com/sports/hockey/hc-baldwin-wolf-pack-0920-20100920-5,0,4627592.story Really interesting story...I heard some speculation about this but apparently the Rangers AHL Affiliate are going to change from the Hartford Wolf Pack to the Connecticut Whale at some point during the 2010-11 season, supposedly before midseason. Strange to do it for no reason (lease expiring, moving, etc.) other than to just appeal fans and such. Does this mean we'll see the return of the Whalers logo? I sure hope so... maxpower
nope, because if they can't get the name, they can't get the logo. this is just really cynical and halfassed. of course, the best part is that they're leaving.
twillms73
They're still the Rangers so, who cares. If you want to see the Whalers, go to Danbury. http://www.thedanburywhalers.com/
ice dog
sounds stupid... i actually think the "Wolf Pack" is a pretty decent minor league name. so dumb... well it is the Rangers affiliate...LoL!

Neb00rs
Well I suppose it's better than naming them the Hartford Sperm. Edited September 20, 2010 by ben00rs

twillms73
The Whalers are run by some good guys and they'll do a great job. I did play by play for a few Mad Hatters games and the atmosphere was quite impressive for that level. I miss the Trashers.
iamtheprodigy
Perhaps I read the title too literally but I was hoping the team was going to be called "Hartford The Whale." Sounds more like a mascot than a team though.

The Trashers went to the UHL finals that year and section 102 was voted the meanest section in pro hockey in some magazine or blog haha. Satans Hockey
This seems like a half ass attempt to bring back an NHL team to Hartford.

Neb00rs
*whale they didn't pluralize is for some dumb reason. Whalers isn't the plural of whale, it's the plural of whaler. The Conneticut Whale is a new name based on the old one.

Pepperkorn
I remember when that Mall was new -- and a big deal too. It was fun! and no they play at Trinity I'm pretty sure. My cousin (once removed) from Alaska is going to Trinity now. how cute is that? His sister is a big hockey player too... but she wants to be a model how adorable is that?
