Devilsfan118
Thanks. I mean I'll bitch about Clarkson and Langs but a lot of it is just frustration and venting (although I really dont care for them but whatever) All of 2010 has basically been very frustrating if you're a fan of this team. But there is only so much negativity you can throw around. It's easy to single out certain guys but this is clearly a team thing at this point. I usually don't like to sit on a loss for long stretches but having 4 days off is a big plus right now. Triumph mentioned it in another thread, this team has played a lot of hockey in a short amount of time to start the season. Things haven't gone well and its just going downhill. Sme time to practice and rest can only help. They need a fresh start. No I absolutely agree with you. We all lose patience and tempers with this sort of thing. Just...some of the stuff that gets posted here by some people is almost comical. People just Gotta just take a step back sometimes. Yeah I think these days off will probably be good for the team. I mean, combine poor play with a dense schedule and you'll get..well...where we are now.

I was thinking that having the time off is really a good thing at this point, when I read in one of TG's posts today that JMac didn't start Hedberg because they haven't practiced much. Which to me says the team hasn't had time to figure out what's going on with them and to work it out in practice. I'm hoping with the time off everyone can get a handle on straightening out some of these problems.

maxpower
booooooooooooooooooooooo. yes, not having a game until Thursday actually is a benefit at this point. they need training camp 2 complete with motivational speakers and drill sergeants. coach is dropping the hammer on people a week into the season. not good. and the coach is going to win. this isn't like what's about to happen to Sutter. njdevil26
So i'm pretty sure I just saw someone from this board essentially mount someone on the kiss cam. Simply fantastic, hha That was Jamie jumping on top of me. I saw the camera guy pointing the camera at us and I was shaking my head trying to get him not to do it because I knew he'd regret it haha. I think we got one of the loudest cheers of the night though haha.
HellOnICE
Hey I love trainwrecks. Thank god we have no game for almost a week. About time. I'll reserve my usual complaints - which still stand.
MadDog2020
So dating back to the playoffs, we've won 2 of our last 11 games. Wonderful.
maxpower
I won't put the suicide hotline on speed dial until after next weekend, because one thing you could take away from that game, was that the Bruins were very sharp. and they've been practicing for about a month now. maybe they do something with these four days. the sharpness levels between the two teams were like night and day

hurricane1091
Heh, I have nothing bright to point out at this point. I'm so perplexed it isn't even funny. How could an A-Lister offense be so lackluster? How could a Hall of Fame goalie be so average? How could our improved defense be playing worse than last years defense? Shaking my head badly. Dead
I think we had some good chances, but our luck is worse than a truck load of dead rats in a tampon factory... Rookie D doesn't help much, neither do bad turn overs. If anyone uses the suicide hotline and you have season tickets, can you please forward those tickets to me? I will make sure that those seats are taken by devils fans that still support their team Edited October 17, 2010 by Dead

If not this could end just like the Met season with a nightmare West Coast swing, only it won't be after the All-Star break.

If not this could end just like the Met season with a nightmare West Coast swing, only it won't be after the All-Star break. yeah, I'm wary of the trip. if they were going to Florida to play those two teams and had a home and home against the Isles, I could care less if they slipped another game next week. but they really can't afford to slip to -4 next week. even if they were playing great, I wouldn't expect to come out of that trip better than break even. if they come back from that trip at -6 or -7, they're in a sh!tload of trouble unless it's like last year, where nobody wants those last spots. you normally need to be at least +10-11 to get in. maybe +13-15 to be secure. just get at least 2 out of 3, and make sure the trip isn't a total debacle. that's probably as good as it's going to get now. RizzMB30
I believe this little rut is a matter of simply running into goaltenders who are playing really well right now because it's the start of the season and a simple addition of luck(or unlucky) for us. Take Anderson for example, he stopped 41 shots Friday night. If you look at Thomas, he was coming off a shutout and an extended rest because the B's were playing in Prague and we had 16 scoring chances going into the 3rd period, but the B's were playing really well. Lucic hit a puck OUT OF THE AIR to score on Marty. Marty can really only be blamed for the goal scored by Thorton, which was embarassing. We ran into good goaltending in Buffalo too with Ryan Miller. Now we come to Brent Johnson, who also played an above-average game against us with 30 saves. I think once some goalies begin to feel the burn of the regular season, our offense will pick up. This is still not the time to worry you pessimistic Bastarde.
Devil Fan
Right now, I don't even know what to say. The Devils played horribly both offensively and defensively while goaltending becomes a huge headache. Everybody on this team should be responsible from management, to coaching staff to the captain and players. If they don't show any progress in the next 3 games, then any moves will be welcomed (fire J-Mac, trading Parise, or acquiring Avery). Everyone's not on the same page, clearly, and the result is an awful hockey team, at least so far. chemistry chemistry chemistry thats what i believe, Look when the z line was on the ice today, they were fine because they work good together, we need to fine the perfect lines for offense and defense. I think kovy will work good with elias and arnott and langs should work well with clarkson and josefson well at least langs will be off the 2nd line, Taormina and White are fine, i think tallinder needs to be with volchenkov when he comes back, then greene will play with either urbom or corrente. The pure raw talent is in place but we need that CHEMISTRY Edited October 17, 2010 by Zubie#
maxpower
they need to figure something out, because they had the team properly aligned and that put Kovalchuk on the 3rd line. here's the problem. I think he needs to play with Zajac. but Parise and Kovalchuk put together are... not good. Zajac can cover up for anyone, apparently (as he is a +3 with 3 points. on this trainwreck) and they seem to have decent chemistry. I think the way Arnott and Elias are going right now, that line will be a trainwreck too. they're in a bit of a bind. they need to make a trade, but if they made a trade, it's going to most likely be a RW. and then there's still freaking Rolston when he comes back. there's just too many freaking LW's, and I thought Kovalchuk at RW kinda bombed. he was still on the left side most of the time anyway
nyrsuck26
What an awful effort. When I start thinking to myself, "jees, Rod Pelley has done a lot tonight." You know that absolutely no one did anything.
maxpower
here's one for people with long memories. what wing does Arnott play? I'm guessing right because he's a NA that shoots right, but I don't think he's played wing since Gilmour was around. his faceoff % is in Elias territory, and obviously that line is not playing well in either zone, so you'd have to think there's going to be a point in time where Elias slides over to at least give them some semblance of middle defense. which clears the LW jam.
