First off, Im warning you now. This topic is quickly going to turn into one big argument and sour grapes.

Never the less, I dont think Lou would let Zach of all players to walk. Zach has a huge future in the NHL and he is just at the beginning. Zach will be a Devil for a long long time. When the time is right, they will sign a big time contract. It would be like Jonathan Toews walking. Not happening.

Yes I agree with you, but if we give him to much salary, we will be in a worst hole than we we're with Kovy this summer. Look at what chicago ha to given up for signing players for too much...

Who cares what they had to give up, THEY WON THE F'N CUP before they had to blow up the team!

Well, Honestly, I think Lou would let anyone else walk before Zach. Zajac would be on that list. I love Zajac dont get me wrong, but who would you rather have on the team besides Zach? They may resort to signing 1 year contracts with Zach until atleast Marty is gone from retirement then start looking into full legnth.

Parise has to sign here really. The question should really be - is he here next year or not. Because he's either signing long term here, signing someone else'd offer sheet the devils will match or not, he's being dealt. The only other option is one year from arbitration or agreement w/ devils which I don't think try can afford to risk.

Can't see him going to arbitration after all his numbers are going to be wayyyyyy down...but ya never know. He may not care what he makes in arbitration as long as its a one year deal - hell make plenty in the next contract.

He won't sign an offer sheet. Why would he - unless it was disgusting money (which I don't see happening)...

There probably will be a lockout after next season anyway - could be interesting.

I'm looking at Zach as our new Shanahan - we need him to bring back our next defensive captain.

I don't think Parise is beholden to Lou or the Devils.

There's a lot of mitigating factors in this. For one, I think the game changed when Kovalchuk was brought on and this whole saga erupted. It was very un-Devils to go through that, and was the antithesis of what Parise was immersed in when he brought here in the whole Devils way of doing business, etc.

I also think for whatever respect Parise has for Lou, it's moot really in terms of staying here, Lou's on his way out soon (perhaps really really soon) and Brodeur, Elias aging.

All these people who just spout carte blanche that Parise is looking to become another mantle holder for the Devils and spread it like they have access to Parise's brainwaves and inner thoughts. I dont think a lot of us know what's going on in Parise's head. But I think there's as good a chance that he leaves compared to that he stays. And I wouldnt begrudge him for wanting to go somewhere else if that's what he wanted.
