This trade hurts their playoff ambitions. the rangers are a playoff team but they're not a very good team - they're a team getting the happy part of the percentages. there's no pressing need for them to load up. there's really not many scorers available on the trade market this year, and that's what the rangers needed with frolov down. so they move rozsival for a forward and then move a 2nd round pick for a UFA defenseman to replace rozsival, if need be.
