iamtheprodigy
Guys - McKenna was never a prospect for us nor a part of our future plans. He was just a depth goalie who we have no need for any longer. He might be a good guy but we have actual prospects now so we don't need the filler anymore. Devilsfan118
What's the general consensus on Frazee?
thefiestygoat
What's the general consensus on Frazee? Strong rookie year in the AHL in 08-09 but it's been downhill since then thanks to injuries and inconsistency. Next year is most likely his last shot in the organization. devlman
I'm wondering how he can be considered a prospect when he wasn't even drafted? Also, how come he doesn't have to go through the draft again? Thanks
thefiestygoat
I'm wondering how he can be considered a prospect when he wasn't even drafted? Also, how come he doesn't have to go through the draft again? Thanks Not all players are developed enough by their draft year or exposed to enough scouts to get drafted. A lot of NCAA free agents are prospects who just needed more time to develop their game. I'm not 100% sure on eligibility but I believe you are eligible for the draft if you are 18 by September 15 and under 20 by December 31 for that year's draft if you are a North American player. I'm not exactly sure how it works for European players. In this case Kinkaid was too old to go through the draft process. aylbert
I'm wondering how he can be considered a prospect when he wasn't even drafted? Also, how come he doesn't have to go through the draft again? Thanks Drafted prospects carry more prestige, but you can still be a prospective player for a team if you aren't drafted... look at John Madden, David Clarkson,.. or look at the very high end at Martin St Louis... Sometimes players just develop later - off the radar of any scout... often due to size, or a significant flaw in their play. Or in situations like Johnny Oduya, he fizzled in the Caps system... went back to Europe and the Devs signed him. The re-entry draft is limited to age 20... after that, you are an unrestricted free agent. There's three answers for you

soulartist23
Video of Kinkaid's press conference talking about his signing with NJ. Not sure if it was posted yet.
