  1. No one is. But it is normally brought up with the intention of scaring undecideds into not voting for him. I know at least one person who has been affected by the fact that his middle name is Hussein and his last name rhymes with Osama, even though he likes Obama's ideas.

Jimmy usually puts HUSSEIN in caps. I don't think I need to say what's going on there. That being said, I'd be interested in everyone's treatment of their own middle name. Assuming you have one. And if you do NOT have a middle name, are you a commie or a jihadist? Or do you just have lazy parents? :whistling:

I'll go first: I sign my middle initial, as I usually sign first name, middle initial, and last name. My middle name appears on some legal documents, like passport.

  2. cute story but underlying it all is an incredibly stupid rule that would have taken a homerun away from the girl if she didn't touch every bag due to injury.

Good point, maybe this incident will be an impetus for an amendment/change to the rule.

  3. Tough to say. That's not why they are there, of course. But I got a jersey signed by Stevens last year. My suggestion would be to ask a staff member of the Ice Vault if you could get an autograph, and maybe spend a few bucks at their snack bar! :D

  4. I think last year may have been the first year, Marty did a goalie camp (but looks like he's giving it a miss this year). I forgot, JP and Zach Parise are doing a camp this year. Jan Ludvig hangs out a lot too, in fact he was spotted at the rink this afternoon. He helps on most of the camps, I guess between trips back to Czech.

    Full Schedule Here

  5. Go to the camp in July! :D

A few things other things: he is watching the playoff games, and he said "we" a lot, as in, 'we need to do a better job clearing the front of the net' (amen brother!), or 'we need to get more pucks on net', stuff like that.

  6. Scott Stevens was at the Ice Vault in Wayne last night, giving a bit of a preview on the Summer Camp he'll be doing there this July. They showed some video clips, most looked to be from the jersey retirement ceremony, including some of his big hits. He did a little Q&A afterwards, and even though it wasn't supposed to be an autograph session, he did sign some stuff for the kids.

He looked like he just came from working on his house!

Other Summer Camps at the Ice Vault will be Patrik Elias, Chico Resch & Kevin Weekes. There is supposed to be a Cam Janssen Camp as well.

  7. I hate it when an ex-Marine who has been repeatedly elected to serve in Congress hates America. It makes my head explode. I hate it when my head explodes. Especially when my head explodes all over dinner. It's not so bad when my head explodes over lunch or breakfast, as they are less expensive meals. So you don't really lose as much money. For example, breakfast doesn't cost $3trillion. But dinner can cost a lot. Not as much as War in Iraq. That costs $3trillion. But you can't eat a war. I hate it when my dinner is ruined. Lucky for me, I don't have to sacrifice anything for this war. Except my dinner. Which I didn't have to even do that. My dinner tonight was delicious. It was not an MRE. So yeah. That.

  8. Give the Widmer hefeweizen a try. There is one stand downstairs, but the stand upstairs is right by the escalator. It's the one with Long Hammer IPA. Very little traffic which equals very short lines. I have also enjoyed Bass, Grolsch, Fosters and Pilsner Urquell.

  9. Include:

    UK Subs

    The Stranglers

    Killing Joke

    and for some good fun:

    The Dead Milkmen

    Surf Punks

And, no list is complete without The Stooges. Which also includes Iggy and the Stooges. Not so much Iggy's more recent stuff.

Oh yeah, I forgot Gang of Four, Fear and The Plasmatics.

  10. Just to harp on this again, maybe both sides have really corrupt people who are a disgrace but are not representatives of all of their respective parties. Idk why this has to be turned into "your side is worse then mine" 4 year old verbal slug fest. It's just one sh!tty guy who did a sh!tty thing to his family and to the people who elected him and leave it at that. The fact that Spitzer is a corrupt hypocrite and also happens to be a democrat doesn't make the republicans any better, it just makes our country as a whole weaker.

Perhaps one explanation for such low voter turnout in this country. That being said, politics is the most brutal of careers. With apologies to Kurt Vonnegut, "Only nutcases want to work in politics."

  11. You are in the correct Forum. Are you a in the midst of a vacation there? What brought you to the Czech Republic? Were the concession stands the same? Was there a store to buy jersey's etc. Both goalies wear #30 because they love marty.
  12. Hi all, my first substantial post, but a long-time reader and Devils fan. I hope this is in the right forum.

We just returned from a trip to Prague. As I was planning this trip, I had hoped we could get to Liberec to see the US play Switzerland in the U20s, but it was not to be.

Instead, we opted for a home game of HC Sparta Praha, one of Prague's 2 professional hockey teams in the Czech Extraliga.

Anyway, tickets were not expensive at all, around $10 or so for seats upstairs.

With an attendance of a little over 5,000, the cold Soviet-era arena was loud. Each team had their fan clubs behind the goals, pounding drums non-stop, like at a soccer match. We saw an OK game, with the game winner scored by Sparta Praha 52 seconds left in the 3rd. Both goalies wore #30, what's up with that??

  13. Did anyone go to the first game tonight and if so, how was it?

Long time Lurker, first time poster, haven't even done the Official Introduction yet.

We went to the Ironmen Home Opener last night.

My report: I wanted 5 $20 tix, they sold me 10 tix for $100 in section 6, so that wasn't bad.

We went in early (drove in got there about 3pm, after my friend had a blowout) and parked at Seton Hall Law School garage, and paid only $9 because we got there nice and early. Late Lunch at Scully's, then several drinks at Hell's Kitchen. Arena opened at 6pm, shortly before we got there.

We had access to the Fire and Ice lounges, though the food was only pizza. (What's up with $70 for 5 vodka martinis??) Many of the regular concession booths open for Devils were closed across both concourses. Anyway, it was an entertaining game. Pele was there, guy looks like he could still kick it around. Irons won 8-6, the game is a weird concoction of soccer, hockey and basketball. My British friend saw some decent skills, but felt the visitors weren't as good as the score indicated. Lots of kids were there, and lots of soccer fans, which was good to see. Samba section with the non-stop drumming, eh not a fan. The game started about 7:50pm (the opening ceremonies were long with Pele and all), game was over about 10pm.

We went with some friends who went the night before to see the Devs take out the Habs, an another friend who has never been. They all enjoyed themselves, and agreed that upstairs gives a better view (we went to Sec 227 for the final quarter).

We would go back. Hope that helps.
