  1. Hard not to get behind this.  It's paying some homage to New Jersey without being presumptuous or obnoxious about it (like when some corporate schlubs assume everyone from NJ likes Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen).  It all sounds good to me.  Like.

Absolutely.. One thing I hate about MetLife Stadium is that everything is "New York this, New York that" so visitors to the stadium barely know they're not even in New York.. This is all about representing New Jersey from the farms to the shore and it sounds like they've put a lot of thought into it (and are putting some money in as well)

Me and some friends just got the basic crap, chicken fingers and fries and some pizza and a bucket of fried chicken. They seemed to be the exact same at both places.

    ( 2009 for both places)

Okay I know in 2009 we had a different vendor who wasn't anything special at all really.. Can't say I know what Yankee Stadium had back then.. They are a partial owner of this Legends company but the company started in 2008 so it's possible they didn't have it up and running back then like they do now.. FWIW here are the ribs they're serving this year at Yankee Stadium: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BjsKf65CQAA-Ugm.jpg

  2. Last time I went to the Rock, the food tasted like the crap at Yankee stadium, but this new company is the same company that supplies them?

is this just putting lipstick on a pig???

If you were at the Rock within the last year and half or so, Aramark was the vendor, so the food should have been quite different from Yankee Stadium.. Aramark is known universally for being really crappy and not caring about the customer.. Legends seem more apt to providing a great experience for fans and giving a damn, so we will see.. I find it interesting that you hated the food at Yankee Stadium as it looks pretty good in pictures lol.. What did you have that you disliked?

  3. I don't tend to eat a whole lot outside of the "standard" kind of fare at games (burgers and hot dogs), so I can't really say much about the food, but it did seem like some people here weren't happy with the overall quality and selections.  What does this mean exactly Colin?  Is this a "sweeping change" sort of thing, from food suppliers to menus to cooking hardware to preparation?  I can't imagine stuff like Nathan's going away, but I'm guessing some other products might see some significant overhauling?

Updated my post with a better article talking about some of the changes.. Sounds like they will be pretty big and we'll see some sweeping changes to the arena itself as a result.. I saw that, for the Angels, Legends came in and made huge upgrades around their stadium.. Sounds like they are doing a bit of the same here but also going full-Jersey in the process which I think we all can agree is awesome

  4. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/prudential-center-and-legends-hospitality-announce-partnership-to-create-world-class-culinary-experience-at-arena-264236901.html

Prudential Center and Legends Hospitality announced today a multi-year partnership that will create a brand new, first-class culinary experience for guests at the Newark, NJ arena. Legends will take over concessions operations in early July with a full rollout of new offerings this fall...

Legends runs the food service for many teams including the Yankees, Cowboys, LA Angels, and NY Red Bulls.. Here's an article about the Angels switching from Aramark to Legends for this season: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/sections-608819-food-angels.html

And here is a sampling of what is to come:

    JBJ Soul Kitchen

Where "Hope is Delicious," JBJ Soul Kitchen is a community kitchen and restaurant run by the Jon Bon Jovi Foundation in Red Bank, NJ and established with a vision to serve healthy, delicious and, when possible, organic meals. JBJ Soul Kitchen is ready to serve those who are hungry or those who hunger to make a difference in their community.

In a partnership with Jon Bon Jovi's Soul Kitchen, Prudential Center will feature the first community-based concession stand in sports and entertainment. The new JBJ Soul Kitchen location will embody its roots by serving healthy, locally-sourced meals served by a staff that has graduated from the Legends/JBJSK job placement program.

    The Jersey Diner

With over 625 diners around the state, New Jersey is far and away the diner capital of the world. With a nod to that honor, Prudential Center will offer the first "Diner" concession. The Route 1 Diner will look and feel like a traditional Jersey Diner, from the servers uniforms to the menu classics, including the Burger Deluxe, Lamb Gyro, Disco Fries and savory milkshakes.

    Ironbound District

Honoring the very district in which Prudential Center is located, the Ironbound District will feature a wide variety of Peruvian, Brazilian and Portuguese favorites in a newly renovated, show-cooking setting with rotisserie grills.

    Boardwalk

Who said walking the Boardwalk was only supposed to be a Jersey Shore experience? Prudential Center's re-imagined Upper Concourse will bring summer inside. Fixed-portables, festooned with classic lighting and an actual Boardwalk will serve popular Jersey Shore classics such as Fried Clams, Fries, Pizza, Ice Cream and Funnel Cakes in what will become one of the most popular destinations in the arena.

  5. I wonder if being a Devils fan is detrimental to the work he's about to do. He's going to come into it with certain biases towards players. It's different when your hobby/passion becomes your career (and Lou your boss)

"And for my first order of business, here are statistics proving we are a better team and our fans complain less when Rock and Roll Part 2 is the goal song. Next up, I'll be explaining how lower beer prices equal more goals per game."

  6. http://www.newarkpulse.com/articles/Phase-2-of-RockPlaza-Lofts-Opens.html

Phase 2 of RockPlaza is marked by the opening of 48 loft-style apartments at the six-story Madison Building, located at 216-218 Market Street, and the near-term opening of several new retailers including the first Newark location of the national eatery Chipotle Mexican Grill.

In addition to Chipotle, which is anticipated to open before the end of June, other new retailers include Krauszer’s Food Stores; Mercato Tomato Pie, an independent restaurant-pizzeria featuring traditional coal-fired pizza; and Novelty Burger & Bar, a throwback to the 1950s diner and drive-ins featuring burgers, hot dogs, shakes and a full bar.

The new residential units at the Madison include 48 studio, one, and two-bedroom loft rental apartments featuring stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, hardwood floors, 24-hour in-unit key access, windowed elevator lobbies and in-unit washer/dryers. The Madison, originally constructed in 1890, underwent a complete restoration and historic renovation when outfitting the new apartments.

  7. Flyers are releasing draft tickets tomorrow at 1pm FYI - I'm sure they have info on their website

I actually got 4 tickets to day 1 and a pair for day 2 in today's prerelease (had to fill out a form on their website), but won't have extras.. Still, would be nice to see us represent there

  8. Huge change for the franchise, going from a focus on defense for their entire existence to now all-out offense.. We'll see what Pekka is really made of.. It'll be exciting to see how they play next year

  9. A few thoughts:

    - I don't get a team or a GM being desperate enough to bring in Brodeur for tickets/jersey/whatever else makes more money. Most importantly, I don't see that being the case. Marty Brodeur is not going to sell more tickets or sell more jerseys unless he is excellent and makes the team better. A 42-year-old goalie that is struggling on a bad team is not going to help anyone. This isn't Wayne Gretzky or Mario Lemieux making a quick stop on a retirement tour, or even a 41-year-old and still very good Hasek stopping in Ottawa for a contender.

    - There is no way Brodeur is going to any other team knowing he will be the backup. Some guys are wired that way. Some guys can transition from being a very good goalie like a Vernon/Joseph to the backup role. Others can not.  That's not a knock on Brodeur. The man's been one of the greatest ever and is used to starting 70-78+ games his entire career. I don't think he ever wants to come back just for locker room camaraderie and to be around the game, and maybe get 15-20 games. He wants to be a difference maker like he has his entire career. This is a guy that was upset about playing only half the games this season. So a lesser role than that on a new team seems very unlikely.

    - He wants to play for a winner. He really only knows winning in his career. Some guys can get used to losing and the atmosphere that goes with it. I don't think he ever has. So this leaves so few teams, and I am sure all of them will be looking at multiple possibilities before Brodeur if they wanted to upgrade their goaltending. And status quo would probably be a better option.

    - There are a few people saying Montreal but that just seems like a very sad place I doubt he would entertain. They have one of the best goalies in the NHL. They don't need Brodeur, and he certainly doesn't need them to fulfill some career long dream. That dream would be sitting on the bench most of the season. That idea wouldn't excite any Habs fans either. Price's status is sky high there.

    - The only situation I see for him (and I fvcking dread it) is him returning here. He knows Cory should be getting 65+ games. Lou probably knows it. But can Lou tell Marty, especially if there are no options out there, that we have a goalie and it is time to move on. I'm not so sure he can. Does Marty even want that? Well if he can get 30 games maybe he can talk himself into that role. But like CR1976 has said and many as well, just having Brodeur on this roster creates a ton of short and long-term problems. None of them are good.

Wanted to break up your points but I'm too lazy lol...

    - Marty would absolutely sell more jerseys just by going to another team. On HF, before the deadline when Chicago had a scout at all of our games, many Blackhawks fans came out saying they'd basically have to buy a jersey or shirt if he went to their team. I mean, how many Jagr jerseys/shirts did we see at the start of the season? A ton, Devils Den sold out of them during the first preseason game and he hadn't done anything at that point. Brodeur is a legend, and especially if he goes to a big market team, people will buy merch just because it's cool to have a legend play for your team. Hell, what has Schneider done for us? I see a lot of gear with his name on it at games and he may only be here another season. If he went to a Pittsburgh/Montreal/Chicago, I'll guarantee that more Broduer jerseys/shirts sell next year than did this previous season.

    - I think he definitely would (and will) go somewhere knowing he's a backup if it's the right situation. Would he go to a team with a solid starter knowing he won't get more than 20 games? No. But would he go to a team that offers him solid potential to get 30+ starts? I think so, because of my next point...

    - At this point in his career, I see it being less about the team and more about Marty getting to 700 wins. He's said he wants that milestone, and I'll bet he goes to a team offering more starts over few starts but on a winner. Marty always talks about how, when he plays more, he can get into a rhythm. He would have a lot of pressure on himself if he goes to winner and only gets a few starts, with no back to back starts.

Totally agree though that the issues of having Marty on this team outweigh the positives. It simply can't happen

  10. I'm willing to bet some team takes him on to, at the very least, sell some merchandise/tickets while seeing if he can turn back the clock when he has something to prove.. The only way he isn't playing elsewhere next season is if he decides to hang them up, which he won't because he wants 700 wins badly

The one place he can't go next year is here in NJ. That ship needs to sail

  11. Yeah I'm with Tri, I think this was good for us with Marty and Cory both wanting ice time.. B2B's were a great excuse to split starts, taking pressure off the coach to make that call and keep both guys happy.

On a side note, since it was mentioned, I'll never ever sympathize with pro-athletes over "tough travel".. Gear packed and carried by equipment manager, bused from the arena right to their plane, quick wanding for "security" on the tarmac, private jet with amenities like food and leg room, and direct flights wherever they go. Then they stay at the Four Seasons or equivalently top-shelf hotel and can afford to buy whatever they need if they forget something.. Yeah that sounds rough

  13. Yeah I had too little notice to put in for time off but I also just can't be spending my time off for an event like this.. I keep picking it because I keep hoping it'll be on a weekend but I guess that's not happening.. I only get a certain amount of days off and my boss won't let me make up time, so I can't attend these day events.. Kills the "benefit" aspect to me if I can't use it

Luckily next season will be some kind of points system so hopefully they have more events and some that I can actually attend
