  1. What if... We had a one hour Devils radio program...exclusive and specific to Devils hockey and the NHL - but Devils hockey being the primary function of such a show? How many here would listen? Would you listen even if it was an internet driven program...(albeit projected in a very professional fashion as an internt only show) would you feel inclined to listen and or participate? Show would be custom tailored to Devils fans, guests, updates, a minor league report, etc. A show of hands indicating an interest level would be much appreciated...I am kicking around a few ideas, and would encourage anyone reading this to get in touch with me concerning your thoughts on this kind of a show. Thank you. dc talktodino@gmail.com
  2. ESPN website=NOTHING on Marty ESPN NHL section=Staal breaking his face tonight...NOT A PEEP on one of the most difficult records in sports to break. Translation=must be A LOT of Rangers fans who work at ESPN.
  3. Actually...honestly? Yeah, I do. Whatever son...I'm done with this thread. Go Devs!
  4. I just checked and its not even up on the NHL section of the ESPN website!
  5. I find it interesting that with this record set tonight...if this were Patrick Roy, Hasek, someone like that, ESPN would have had it up on their website within seconds after the record was established. A check of the ESPN site less than 60 seconds ago and this thing isn't even a blip on their radar. Typical.
  6. I never heard of this guy you mention (Marten Brodure?) but he must be pretty good. Congrats to Marty - a great Hall of fame career with another historic night in the net!
  7. Sir, I have no such concerns about losing credibility in your eyes - or in the eyes of anyone else for that matter. The previous poster challenged me, questioned my honesty in being a "lifelong Devils fan"...and was sarcastic in doing so to boot. Defend me? On your own time I beg of you to do what you so please, however, while it may be nice of you to defend me, truly, I could care less in your defense of me, or your attacking of me. Either way, I sleep fine. If you considered my previous post 'arrogant', or even this one...I hope you get over it before tomorrow's work day.
  8. I have hundreds of games on tape, however, most of them are from the early days, and I would have to convert them over from VCR to DVD. Suppose I could do it if you were interested?
  9. Look it man, I don't owe you an explanation beyond what I have posted to date. The Marty thing was a simple mistake plain & simple. The Neids thing was in reference to the conversation from the night before when both Kenny and myself were discussing the topic..if it came out sort of convoluted, then so what...I've apologized, take it or leave it. I have been a Devils fan since 1982-83, when Lever was at center ice for the first puck dropping...I've traveled to Hartford, to Pittsburgh, to the Garden, to south Florida to see the Devs play. You want to get into Devils overall history with me pal - and I'm more than ready and willing to take a whirl with you. My first favorite Devil player? Jan Ludvig. Oh, and he wore a few numbers in Devils green, red, & white, but I liked him best in #29. I was there outside the press box high-fiving Larry Hirsh after Devils goals (not that many in those days) in the early days. I was a frustrated season ticket holder the year after we first qualified for the playoffs. Lou has been on radio programs I've hosted in Huntington, Wheeling, WV...he's joined me on shows in Jacksonville, and here in Denver. You want to take exception to my post for other reasons then go ahead - just don't question my credentials as a Devils fan, because they are well beyond dispute. Additionally, I was asked a few years ago, to talk with a gentleman who was putting together the ultimate Devils history book, he interviewed me over the phone for a good hour...have no idea if the book was ever printed? I'd be willing to state without equivocation, that when it comes to overall Devils history, I would put my knowledge up against anyone, any time, any place. Seriously dude, don't jump into the ring of fire with me on this one...it won't be pretty.
  10. Couldn't agree more, the dearth of knowledgeable sports talk hosts who can speak intelligently on the game is awful...XM has all the games of course regarding p-b-p - - - in addition they also have the NHL Channel - - - which of course is non-stop puck talk. My show can't talk hockey endlessly, per say, however, there is no question that I do discuss the game, have on guest personnel from around the game, and take phone calls about the game...although mostly from listeners north of the border. -dc talktodino@gmail.com dino@siriusxm.com
  11. Thanks for the positive comments, Crasher...and I'm glad you're a listener. Yes, this is the real slim shady, no question! http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/Page&c=Channel&cid=1224020054695&s=person http://www.linkedin.com/pub/dino-costa/6/5a3/a50 Thanks, dc
  12. Sorry on that one guys - I hit a wrong key, my extreme bad. What makes this even more crazy for me is that downstairs here in my office I am LOOKING (!) at a plaque on the wall of Marty that is RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Duh! No seriously WTF!!!! As for Mrs. N...the opportunity to have a rooting interest for both boys at the same time and with the same team in New Jersey. Yes she rooted for both sons previously - but not together in a Devils uniform - I should have clarified. dc
  13. I had a terrific 25 minute discussion with, Ken Daneyko, on my national radio program last night. If you aren't aware, concurrent with his role on MSG, Kenny also does a 2 hour program along with former Rangers pretty boy, Ron Duguay, each Thursday night on Mad Dog Radio...the show is called; 'ICE BREAKERS', and it airs from 7-9 PM EST. Last night we spoke about the Devils season, how in the constant face of doom & gloom from the prognosticators, the Devils continue to not only win and remain relevant in the Eastern Conference, but in addition, each year, they have a legitimate chance to win the Stanley Cup. I spoke with Kenny about the 'culture' of Devils hockey, and how it is fostered from player to player, handed down over the years, how Lou does an outstanding job of cultivating the pride within the organization, how Stevens, and Kenny, and Johnny Mac, Chris Terrerri, Driver, and others, are still connected to the club, and Kenny admitted that he and the guys I just mentioned do indeed speak to guys at times and impress upon them what you could call; 'The Devils way'. I told Ken that it was my opinion that come spring time this year, that Mrs. Niedermayer, would finally be able to root for both her boys together playing for the Stanley Cup, as it is my opinion that Lou will swing a deal with the Ducks to bring Scott back to the Devils at the trade deadline and reunite him with his brother Rob - Ken said he was thinking the same thing. We spoke of Marty and his record breaking events the last few years (including last night), and Ken candidly agreed with my assertion, that Marty, particularly at his advancing age, should be willing to cede some time to a back-up, being fresher for the post-season. He spoke of Marty as a rookie, in training camp, with what Kenny described as a 'cheesey mustache' he wore early in his career. I told Ken that Lou would probably make Marty wait a year after his career to retire his number 30...Ken disagreed and said that while Lou does that for everyone else, in this case, it would be different for number 30...he expects Marty's number to be in the rafters about 2 seconds after he announces his retirement. I asked Ken if it was just a tab bit different playing in front of Marty...instead of say, Lindsay Middlebrook...or Hannu Kampurri! Kenny still checks in with the Devils best ever former radio voice, Larry Hirsh, who is still in Tampa doing some radio work. A real fulfilling conversation with an all-time Devils great...and if you're looking for NHL talk on a national sports talk radio program that talks up NFL, NBA, MLB...be advised you'll hear it on my show. Sincerely, Dino Costa Lifelong Devils fan member since 1982-83
  14. Well, on this link here: http://www.checkoutmycards.com/Cards/Hockey/1990-91/Score/439/Martin_Brodeur_RC it says you can claim one for just a little bit more than $3...card collecting ain't what it used to be, eh? Off to do a radio show...
  15. Talk about a pretty nice supplemental birthday present for me? The Devils in their awesome red & green jersey's - PLUS Marty in his original mask? Nice.

  17. Interesting how the talents of Dion Phaneuf have fallen so alarmingly in the eyes of Devils Nation.
