So I wasn't exactly pulling facts out of my arse before when I thought I had read that Canada had some kind of sharia law. Don Posted February 20, 2006 Share Posted February 20, 2006 Yes, it just recently *PASSED*, but you know how bills are... it takes forever to get them through. McGinty, the premier (similar to governor of a state) said that there was no way that he was going to allow Sharia in his province. So as soon as a Muslim cleric started the procedure to introduce Sharia law, similar to what the other religions have, McGinty started the move to stop it. Wheels of government are slow. Note that this law doesn't just end Sharia from ever happening, but also Catholic and Jewish dispute resolution.
