Anahiem has the hottest goaltending in the playoffs now. You can only go as far as your goaltending lets you go and if Giguere stays hot he will outplay Turco easly. Imagine if Sykora, Kariya and Oates actually got going and averaging a point or two a game, they would be hard to stop.
-
Something seems wrong with that sunday tsn time, tsn is covering all four rounds of the Masters and usually would start sunday at 3 or 4.
-
Gionta is goners
-
I would only trade him there if I could get a Zetterberg package or a Datsyuk package.
-
I doubt he played much, prob on the third line where he will stay for a couple of games.
Tri, I agree he should be in the minors but the coment on defense is what got me, his head won't be mentaly prepared for about 10 to 15 games.
-
Foster has to work on Defense?, where did you hear this, honestly or are you making it up. How could you determine this by, what was it, maybe 4 games with devils or Albany.
He is suppost to be a real complete player knowing both ends of the ice, he can be physical, don't know how much after the injury, and is very offensive. Kind of like a Weight or even Heatley type player. He can playmake and score.

ALBANY -- If the Albany River Rats can find a way to continue playing as they have recently and somehow scratch their way into the AHL playoffs, they could be a dangerous opponent in the Eastern Conference.
Despite injuries to forwards Joe Hulbig and Chris Hartsburg, the Rats suddenly have found some offensive chemistry, and their first two lines may be as good as any team in the division right now.
One line centered by Saratoga Springs resident Craig Darby with Dave Roche and Steve Kariya at the wings has come to life for the Rats. Between them they have 430 games of NHL experience, and it's resembled an NHL line lately.
Darby, the AHL Player of the Week after recording five assists in Albany's most recent game, has racked up 12 points (3-9) in his past seven games. Roche (6-4) and Kariya (4-6) have both accounted for 10 points in the past seven. That's 32 points from three players over seven games.
"He's played well," Rats coach Red Gendron said of Darby, Albany's leading scorer. "It helps that not all of the offensive load rests on his shoulders. It makes it a little bit easier."
The return of Stephen Guolla and Christian Berglund from New Jersey has provided another potent line with veteran Greg Crozier, and the Rats' power play has vastly improved using combinations of both lines.
Albany scored six power-play goals in its two victories over division leader Bridgeport, which came into the weekend as the No. 1-ranked team in the AHL in penalty killing. The Rats are now ninth in the AHL on the power play.
"You can see the difference in our confidence," said Kariya, who scored Albany's second hat trick of the season Sunday. "We put Guolla back there on the point and it gives us another guy that can really move the puck."
Guolla has played in only nine games for the Rats this season, coming down on a conditioning assignment recently after back surgery. He has scored 15 points (6-9) in those nine games.
But the Rats know they have to string more than two wins together to catch Springfield. They are five points behind the Falcons for the 10th playoff spot with 16 games to play -- 10 of those on the road starting this weekend.
"It's a three-game road trip with a fair amount of travel, so we're going to have to be ready for that," Gendron said. "Every point is important to our team." Foster arrives: Highly touted rookie forward Adrian Foster, who hasn't played in a game yet this season, is ready to make his season debut this weekend.
Foster, who has had a series of nagging abdominal injuries, was on the ice at B.I.G. Arena on Thursday and will accompany the team on this weekend's three-game road trip.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound center was New Jersey's top choice (28th overall) in the 2001 draft. Ice chips: Captain Ken Sutton needs two assists to top 100 for his career as a Rat. ... Max Birbraer hasn't scored a goal since Nov. 22. ... Scott Cameron is the only Rat who has played in all 64 games. ... Rob Skrlac has the team's best plus/minus ration at +5. He also has a career-high five points.

I am all for trading Elias but only for the following, Marleau, Lecavalier, Iginla, Smyth(package) ONeill (Package), Doan (Package), Spezza (Package). Richards (Package), Satan, Daze (Package).

There is a couple of problems, we don't have anyone in front that can put a screen on the Goalie. Rupp is now there for that, secondly Elias and Gomez have to start shooting from the sides, they keep on passing trying to get the perfect play and that doesn't usually happen. Third is our "power play specialists" can't get a damn shot through traffic on net.
Solution - Place Madden on the power play on the right side. That sets him up for a onetimer and he will shoot about 80% of the time. Leave Rupp in front which he has been doing. Third plae Gomez on the left side where he controls the play on the powerplay. We may have to rest Stevens a bit more to do this but place him on the point during he pp, he has close to the hardest and heavyest shot on the team and can always get it through traffic. On the other point I'd like Niedermayer on that side.
Gomez - Rupp - Madden
Nidermayer - Stevens
It doesn't allways come to talent on a powerplay. Elias is off because he fuked the powerplay up all year.

Just wondering, how many of you followed the devils after they won a cup and be honest. I started when I was 5 (canadian custom) in 1990, I got a Sean Burke devils card and from then on I loved the devils.

Trade Today?
in Hell
Lou never panics, never in the past due to injuries. I will say he will call up Uchevatov, he is a gritty Defensmen who isn't offensive. A perfect call up for White. Tverdovki and Gionta are skating anyway. Help is on the way. We are missing Brylin a ton and it shows by our play without him.
-
Try and get Morrow back for Nieuwendyk. We would have to ad a 2nd I'd think.
-
Leave them keep Nolan, our team has enough grit to win the cup IMO, the only stumble block would be Toronto, they would injure you and leave you with nothing left for the next series.
-
Hoe about sending Tverdovski, and Danton for Stuart.

Gomez isn't so much a great player if he can't average over a point per game ever. That was playing with almo and Elias
-
you know what you can do with those +- stats.
-
-
He isn't the future of the team, the only player you could consider that is Elias. Like I rambled on before, our prospects are great along with our future. Suglobov played for team Russia inthe Sweden Games and registered 2 goals and 4 assists in 5 games. That was unreal for him.
-
I don't want anything to do with him, he is a defensive liability and is injury prone. He can't hit and he would wreck our chemistry and our budget. Now if we could trade Elias for Iginla, that is a different story.

I wish we had to so we could beat the snot out of them, we are still not getting any respect. Media is sick

I think Burns knows a bit more what to do then us, he was Jack Adams winner 3 times I think, you have to do something wright to get that award. What Burns was trying to do is get three lines producing, the NFL line usually scores most games and he tried to get the checking line to score along with the #1 line. It is only one game, he is trying to tinker to find the best chemistry, or maybe Lou told him to do it to showcase a player like Gomez's ability to produce no matter who his linemates are, is he on the block, who knows.
-
Tuomas Pihlman is currently playing for Findland at the Sweeden Games which encludes Russia, where Suglobov is playing. I am currently trying to read Sweedish so I can find the stats. Tuomas Pihlman has #1 power forward taped on his head.
Devils Draft Review
in Hell
Posted
Ok, this post should last me a couple of months.
About our draft picks.
Parise - A highly skilled player who has some grit to him, he is small but bulky for his height. He should develop into a Comrie type player with more grit and more scoring.
Vrana - A center or a lw and has plenty of skill to get himself to the nhl. He is more a playmaker then a goalscorer and sees the ice better then most. He is small and will have to put on some weight to survive the long NHL season. I will get to see him play about 10 times this season and will keep you up to date on how he is playing.
Khomutov - This guy is either 1st line star or a bust. He already has all the skills just he work ethi is being questioned. He has abover agerage spped, hardest wrist shot for his age group. He seems to wonder arounf the ice without touching the puck for his shifts. As If he doesn't want the puck. I think comming to London should help his development getting top line ice time, he is a prospect you may want to keep a watch on.
Jason Smith - Maybe the steal of the draft by the time this is over, most of you americans keep an eye on this guy, he is going to be playing university somewhere next year and he is goos. In junior aaa hockey he was like 45 and 5 with a 2.05 gga.
Tuomas Pihlman is really close to signing with NJ and will be going to camp this year. Suglobov has gained weight and is said by a russian expert that he is ready fot he NHL. Foster has fully recovered from the abd injury and should give a good fight for the #4 center job this pre season. Our future is bright.
