i know that martin is coming back, but this team needs a d man that can skate the puck out of the zone. too many times do you see the d just trying to wrap the puck around the boards.

i think the devils need another defenseman anyway, regardless of how well/bad salmela plays.

Anyone who thinks this defense can get them anywhere past the 1st round, MAYBe the 2nd round, is certifiable.
i felt this way about our defense even when we were winning games.
this defense is a good regular season defense, but over the course of a seven game series seeing the same team every other night, especially against an offensively gifted team, they will be exposed. i know martin's return will bolster the d, i just don't think his return is enough to really consider this team a cup contender.

there is no defending this hit at all. i hate to see it, especially from one of our top prospects.
but people who think he should never suit up for the devils are going way overboard. lou will get this kid in line before he ever dresses for the devils. i remember corrente had a fairly bad rep before he came up and he seems to have found a way to play tough but within the rules. i would expect patrice to do the same, or he will never be brought up.

I was thinking the same thing. Its getting crazy now. There is only so much you can do with a shorthanded roster and now they have this ridiculous stretch of games to close out the month. You can pretty much argue that our entire second line is out right now along with our best defenseman. It could get ugly.
It would certainly help if some of the people who get paid big money here could elevate their game a little bit but it is what it is. I'd have to say I'm most disappointed with Oduya. Rolston leaves a lot to be desired but Oduya has been a complete bust this year. Either way there is over 8 million dollars wrapped up between these guys. Those numbers tend to stick out a bit when the team stinks like ass.
i was told by many people on this board that oduya is a top 4 defenseman on almost EVERY team in this league(that was a quote from someone) after i said i thought he was overpaid being the average player he is. who would have thought that when martin went down andy greene, and not oduya, would be the one stepping up. i always thought oduya was a 5/6 guy and i've seen nothing from him this season at all to make me think differently.
i was at work today and missed the game so i can't say much about it. we can't really start panicing until we get healthy and don't win. those early season wins will surely help us now. even with this team at full strength, lou will have to make some moves to turn this team into a true contender.
it would be nice to get a few more wins before the break too.

For the first time, I'm actually getting convinced that the Nets are indeed Brooklyn bound. Now that the last legal hump has been hurdled and the bonds have been sold, there is almost nothing standing in their way. I will miss my NEW JERSEY Nets, but the NBA sucks nowadays, so I think I may stop following basketball altogether when they finally leave. It's a shame, and I won't be surprised when their attendance continues to be a joke in Brooklyn (and I may get a chuckle out of it).
i agree. i don't watch basketball at all unless the nets are playing. i really don't care for it anymore, but i've been following the nets since birdsong, richardson and the boys played and it would pain to me give up on them because i've always tried to root for jersey's teams. but i can't support this move. i hoped there was a chance they would end up in newark, but oh well. i will always miss them though.
