Hi All!
I'm new to this board. I'm usually a lurker type, just like to read how other people feel about the team.
On this topic though, I have to comment.
I have a good friend who works for the Devils. He informed me that there will be an actual goal horn, but it was not ready in time for opening night. The horn we heard was an audio file of the sound the new horn will make. Once the new horn is installed it will be really friggin loud. He didn't have an ETA on the horn's arrival, but I would guess it's probably within the next month or so.
As far as the song goes... They were working on remaking a song by a band (not from NJ, but they did play in Hoboken over the summer).... the song was awful. Management made the decision to go with the song that came in #2 during the poll last year. The worst thing you can do is call and complain about the song. Those calls traditionally go to the game entertainment department - which is currently down to 2 people, a video editor and a graphics designer. With the new jumbotron, etc they have their hands full creating all new videos and graphics. If you call and complain you are taking away from the time they spend on what they actually need to do. So before you call, think what is more important - videos to keep you entertained during those newly extended TV timeouts or a song you may have to hear a couple of times a game (if we're lucky).
Sorry for being the random person who joins just to make one post, but after hearing the agony they went through last year with the goal song I think we should respect them enough to let them do their job. There will never be a song that makes everyone happy.
