At the time, Rumsfeld expressed concern over the backlash that could be created by a large U.S. troop presence, and he and others said evidence of Bin Laden's location was inconclusive.
This seems to be the result once again of the liberal mindset that we have to think about the civilians before blowing this guys head off, and apparently even Bush fell into this thinking. And if you think Obama would do anything differently, you're crazy. He's the master of liberal politics. You think he'd ever take this opportunity if it meant upsetting the Muslim world? Hell no.
Shame that Bush made this decision.

Lots of high scoring games

I'm very pleased with the win today but the Islanders showed why they will not be going anywhere this year. They're just not that good. They have been improving since last season but there is still a long way to go for them. Even though the game was closer then the score suggested The Devils flat out dominated this game from the 2nd period forward. The game could have been blown open sooner then it was if not for the 4 posts they hit.
The problem is that the Islanders just cannot remain consistent. They go from a win over the Penguins where they shut down the Penguin offense and score timely goals, forecheck hard, and apply constant pressure, to a relatively good first period where they jump on an early lead, to two abysmal periods of garbage defense, non-existant powerplay, and no signs of offense. The Devils did a dynamite job of shutting them down today, but if the Isles were playing the way they were yesterday afternoon, this could've been an OT game or even an Islander regulation win.

...who here predicted the Islanders would be just 3 points shy.. from 5th in the Conference, come December?? -I didn't.
Howie cited a stat today that the Islanders reached the 27 point mark 11 games earlier than they did last year. 27 points took 37 games last year, this year it took 26.

One thing I love about afternoon starts: I, being the lazy teenager that I am, get to sleep til noon, wake up, and put on the hockey game!
AND ISLANDERS!!!!
-
That wasn't even remotely funny
-
Why would devils fans want the Islanders to lose? An islander win means dropping the raggies down to ninth and catching up to filthadelphia

cool
like ???
Lol check JL's signature

Anyone hear that joke Michaletti? He has the audacity to say to the whole national audience that Gaborik is the best player in the game today. This while they're playing the Capitals, and OVECHKIN IS BACK IN THE LINEUP. How the hell is this sh!t head put on national tv?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND the difference between a "combatant" and a criminal is what? So they don't get rights of a pow, but they are not Americans meaning they don't get the rights that citizens do? What's to stop us from killing this guy without a trial?
A criminal is somebody who has broken a domestic law, while a combatant is somebody who has committed an act of war against the country while not belonging to any military affiliation.
-
Please. I can completely understand where one could find reason to call 9/11 a military operation, but a terrorist organization is also a criminal organization.
If they were domestic, they would be...

Trying KSM in civilian court will be an intelligence bonanza for al Qaeda and the hostile nations that will view the U.S. intelligence methods and sources that such a trial will reveal. The proceedings will tie up judges for years on issues best left to the president and Congress.Whether a jury ultimately convicts KSM and his fellows, or sentences them to death, is beside the point. The treatment of the 9/11 attacks as a criminal matter rather than as an act of war will cripple American efforts to fight terrorism. It is in effect a declaration that this nation is no longer at war.
Now, however, KSM and his co-defendants will enjoy the benefits and rights that the Constitution accords to citizens and resident aliens -
You seem to forget that 9/11 wasn't a military operation. Civilians were the targets.
That might be the most misguided claim I've heard in my life, and I go to high school with some very stupid kids.
-
I'd be fine with a military tribunal, for me its about actually prosecuting the terrorists to see justice carried out. As for the waterboarding thing Holder has already said he is confident they have enough evidence to convict him without anything obtained via torture, which is just another reason we shouldn't have tortured to begin with.
Yeah, and a US government official could neeeeeeeeeeever be mistaken.... or make a miscalculation..... or say something they didn
-
Canes were up 4-1 at one point in the second, now it's 4-3 at the end of 2. If the Canes manage to blow the 3 goal lead and lose I will lol.
-
Its actually funny that people really think KSM would ever walk free, under any circumstances. It wont happen and it never will happen.
Then why try him in a civilian court where our intelligence secrets can be revealed? Why not put him in front of a military tribunal?
-
Last year I sat 212 row 9 --- last row in the arena but a good, overlooking view of the ice (although very high up)
This season I have tickets in section 114 row 1 for 10 bucks less than face value... and if people say that the 100's first row has the best view, I'm trilled!!!
-
So rather then hold a trial, convict these SOB's and potentially sentence them to death to you know.. actually pay for their crimes against humanity you want them to be held indefinitely getting 3 meals a day? I'm glad they are finally being held responsible!
Oh btw, who do you think is paying for their current inhabitance? You think the people in Cuba are graciously picking up the tab? Lol we've been paying all along! if anything "those" families will save money if we execute these actual terrorists. And I find it fitting that they be tried in New York, I hope on their way to the execution chamber they drive them past the freedom tower as one last "fvck you we're still here" moment.
Relive? How about happy to see justice carried out.
They could be held responsible in a military tribunal. Instead, valuable intelligence gathering methods will be forced to be revealed, names of intelligence collectors will be publicized, and all that could be for nothing if the judge decides that the evidence against him is null because it was obtained while waterboarding. It just take one stupid judge to screw this up. Then KSM walks free.

I know this point has been addressed before.......but.......Mrs. Leeds had a FIOS rep come to our house yesterday and they told her that the Devs games are now in HD on Fios.
I don't believe it myself.
If anyone knows if this is true, please let me know.
Sounds like an unknowledgeable rep is all.

the islanders are not better than any team in the eastern conference, i don't know what reason anyone would have for thinking that they are. tavares is a huge help and there's young players getting better but there is way too much ice time being taken up by mediocre players.
To your first part: have you seen them play lately (besides last night, one stinker out of 5 games)
To your second part: Yep. As long as players like Sim take up time that could be used by Schremp, you'll see less scoring.
My vote.... YES!!
-
No. apologist my ass, you are not getting off this easy.
What's this "not getting off this easy" like he's a criminal?
You must be quite an angry person.
-
It's downright disgraceful that you would use a tragic event like this to promote your rampant xenophobia and hatred of Muslims. Learn what? What exactly is the lesson here Jimmy? kick out everyone who doesn't look like you?
Why do you think he hates muslims? Do we really have to go over this over and over again?

NHL just being gay again, nothing suspension worthy here
It wasn't the way he instigated, it was the time of game

...The No child left behind act forced state government to get involved more in government-run schools. If you were a government run school, you had to live up to government standards. I fail to see the problem here.
