  1. So we've written letters on the board before, i figure we write an angry letter to MSG demanding that we get more HD feeds. This is bullsh!t, Isles get HD all the time? Why? The only reason I can think of is Tavares. I'm sure we can come up with plenty more reasons why the devils shouldn't be pushed to MSG+2 all the time. I'm starting to get pissed.

    Devils:

    Islanders: 2akib6e.png

So yeah... the Islanders get non-HD more than the Devils

  2. The same reason when police show up on a scene and they might arrest both parties involved in an altercation because they can't establish the faulty one right away. The idea that locking up a thousand people for 8 years keeps our troops safe while their are hundreds of thousands if not millions of terrorists roaming around is an absurd concept. They get a buffer period, some time to process sh!t out and figure out if people are actually terrorists or not. What that time should be i'm not sure, i'd not in counter intelligence. I can safely say that if it takes us 8 years to figure out if people are innocent or not then we need to get out of the business of fighting terror, 8 years is 10-15% of someones life.

And it doesn't take 8 years, as we have seen the problem is these people were picked up on the battle field, turned out to be innocent but cant be returned to their home countries for whatever reason, usually fear of persecution. It's funny (actually its not funny, its downright tragic), its perfectly acceptable to you to take them from their homes for doing nothing wrong and lock them away from almost a decade but freak out at the idea of having innocent people live in the nation founded on the very principles we are denying them.

Except that's not how wartime detainees work. You don't keep them until you know whether or not they are terrorist involved because it's VERY difficult to establish that legally. There are no eye witness testimonies, no criminal forensics, just the soldier claiming that he saw the man with a gun. Therefore, in war, you detain someone who's fighting in the opposition and hold them until the war is over. Since there is no official army we are fighting, with no uniforms or identification, what are we supposed to do with people who we suspect are terrorists? Just return each and every one to battle?

If you figure out a better way let me know.

  3. What our troops need to do in the time of war to secure their safety is one thing. Holding them for 8 years without a single shred of proof that they did anything wrong is another. If these people are detained for a few weeks or a few months, ok, sh!t happens in war. 8 years? sorry, I draw the line well before that.

By saying you are okay with a few month-detention without evidence because it's necessary for a war, why not extend it to a few years when that's how long the battle lasts? What you're saying is illogical, because you're admitting that it's necessary for wartime-style detention of suspected war criminals, but after a few months we MUST let them go or we'll be a mean nation. The need for security during the first 6 months of the war is just the same 6 years in to the war.

  4. So the insurance companies aren't evil, they're just incompetent. Or wasteful, or... All that revenue and they can't/won't afford to cover people when they need their insurance the most? Where the hell's all the money going?

Just throwing this out there, if your health insurance provider was forced to give out policies to every sick person that walked into their office, how would they be able to afford to pay off your medical bills when YOU get sick and need your policy the most?

If your post is referring to people who already have insurance and are denied coverage, I think you are dealing with a relatively small amount of cases. As a previous study documented,

Among insured Americans, 82 percent rate their health coverage positively. Among insured people who've experienced a serious or chronic illness or injury in their family in the last year, an enormous 91 percent are satisfied with their care, and 86 percent are satisfied with their coverage.

  5. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the profits in "food and housing" -- well, maybe food, because as Devilish pointed out, who's profiting from housing right now? -- aren't anywhere near as obscene as those being brought down by the insurance companies. It's almost like the oil companies; they're raking in the cash hand over fist, yet people have a hard time paying for their product, one that really ought to be more basic and more widely available than it is currently.

As the table above of Profit Margins by Industry shows (click to enlarge, data here for the most recent quarter), the industry "Health Care Plans" ranks #86 by profit margin (profits/revenue) at 3.3%. Measured by profit margin, there are 85 industries more profitable than Health Care Plans (included Cigna (CI), Aetna (AET), WellPoint (WLP), HealthSpring (HS), etc.).

And isn't one reason for a lack of competition that competition for health insurance across state lines is prohibited, creating in effect 50 state health insurance "cartels"?

  6. Most of the people left were victims of being in the wrong place at the wrong time These people have lives, friends, family; it's unconscionable that we have been holding them indefinitely let alone the idea that we should just continue to house them with no proof. Hold a trial, if we have the evidence that they were committing crimes against US personal then fine, if we don't release them. For all the times conservatives cling to the second amendment maybe they should take a closer look at 4, 5, 6 and 8, not to mention habeas corpus which was written into our constitution before the bill of rights even.

Good luck collecting that evidence in the middle of an Afghani battlefield. Fingerprints and close-up eye witnesses are not as accessible in the middle of an Afghani field.

  7. I still think it's a misunderstanding and my interpretation is correct. This will clear it up more....clearly, IMO.

JL, do you believe every Muslim on the planet is not peaceful?

I've asked him this before, and he's told us in the past. Anyone trying to attack him can be directed to that post:

I feel like I've been over this many times. Maybe not on this board. Whatever, I'll go through it again.

In no way is he stating that all muslims are terrorists. I don't know why you libs always seem to pick that up from his posts, maybe you need help with reading comprehension? Anyway. No conservative in his right mind will claim that all muslims are terrorists, and every time you misrepresent what we say, it just makes you look foolish.

What we ARE saying is that, even though a small minority of muslims are terrorists, the vast majority of international terrorists that seek to kill and maim millions of innocents, 9/11, England, Madrid, and Mumbai as examples, are muslims. There's no denying this. For some reason, however, liberals like you can't handle that. To you, all religions are unequivocally equal, and anybody who uses statistics, history, or news articles to prove otherwise is simply a "racist".

So, the point of JL's post wasn't to claim that every single muslim is a terrorist. The point was to show further evidence for the fact that just about every terrorist currently trying to bring down cities and detonate nuclear weapons on US soil are muslims. The "I'm sure he's a rare breed" remark makes reference to the fact that just about every other terrorist operating in a sleeper cell in the United States is probably a muslim, so to claim that this was just a rare case is, again, typical liberal ignorance.

Correct me if I'm wrong though JL.

    You are dead on.

  8. its not their land to give back for christ sakes. the borders should return to what they were in 1967. the Palestinians should hold stead fest until then.

so by your logic the ally powers should be in control of germany, italy, and russia should still be in control of most of eastern europe? you my friend are a mongo.

After WWII, they decided to build up Eastern/Western sectors. Had they actually wanted to, it would've been their land. These countries didn't want that, and instead tried to encourage new self sufficient governments.

Can I ask you a question? You are aware that Israel was given the 1948 territory by the UN right? You also realize that for each and every single Israeli war, it was the hateful arabs that attacked Israel first?

Why are you so against a country that has made the desert flourish? A country that stands for peace (if only its neighbors did too).

  9. actually a wall is a major problem. lots of Palestinians works in israel the wall hurt their lively hoods. A big reason why there is terrorism is because of income disparity you never see the wealthy blowing themselves up do you? Israel does not go out of its way to target civilians you should ask the people of beirut. you forget all the Americans who were sh!tting themselves when we evacuated them out of lebanon 3 years ago. the israeli's do not have the best reputation and they are the cause of most of the problems in the middle east. it is simply ridiculous that they refuse to go back to the 67 borders. no country in the middle east is strong enough to invade them. but, yet all they want to do is build new settlements and displace more palestinian families.

You sir are quite the simpleton.

To start, the wall built between Israel and the Arab west bank has cut suicide bombings by a rate no other solution could.

I'm not even gonna give you the dignity of addressing your points about Israel's war against Hezbollah.

Actually, numerous times since Israel began, they offered to give back land. When the initial UN resolution gave Israel land half the size of New Jersey, what did the Arab countries do? They shot it down, because giving even .5% of their middle east land to the Jews was too much.

Tell me something, why should land that was won in battle be given back? Point me to any example in history where the victor of a war had to give back land they gained.

  10. I hate that franchise sooo much, but it would be a sad day for hockey if the Islanders moved. HOWEVER, our fan base would probably grow exponentially, right? I mean we can see from matcat that Isles fans like the Devils a whole hell of a lot more than the Rags. It would be interesting to see what happened with the divisions... if what the speculation says is correct, that the Caps would move into our division, count me out. Playing ovechkin that many times a year? eesh.

I hate to even consider the awful (and unlikely situation), but if god forbid the Islanders do relocate, the Devils would easily become my number one without question. I know quite a few other Islander fans that feel similar. Those who don't would consider other teams, but virtually none would consider the rags.
