They also use the line of "but Lou took the team to the ECF in his first year!" quite often as well.

What a bunch of crap. We're also in this rebuild because of Lou and had it not been for that fluke run in 2012, his post lockout handling of the team would look much worse.

I'm very grateful for what Lou did but give it a rest with the Lou worship and Shero hate. Ridiculous.

Yeah if you thought the boos for Gomez and Holik were loud JUST WAIT till this piece of **** comes into the Rock next year in a Ranger uniform.  And not just cause he went there but for every bit of drama and backstabbing he's put us through over years and years, and all we got in return was a good playoff month and a half.

If that happens I hope he gets absolutely  crushed by one of our players. Guy is the most selfish, moneygrubbing a-hole to ever put on a Devils uniform.

Lou swinging for the cheap seats! Signs Marleau (38), Dominic Moore  (36), and Ron Hainsey  (36) all to multi-year deals.

I hope not, Lou bringing back past Devils was one the worst things he would always do.

Lol. Lou used to LOVE signing ex-Devils. He couldn't get enough of it.

I'm actually surprised he hasn't signed any former Devils in Toronto. I don't know who's still left in the league though other than Brian and Stephen Gionta. Parise wouldn't go because he likes it in Minny and Lou can't sign Zajac since he has a no trade clause and makes about $7 mil/year for the next 10 years. Lol.

  5. I like the way Popugayev glides around on the ice and then let's a shot rip when he gets the puck. He definitely takes that from Malkin's style of play which is cool to see. Boqvist, Walsh, Zetterlund, and Studenic seem like interesting prospects as well. Overall I like this draft a lot. The past 2 years' selections have tried to focus on speed and offensive play. After years of big, slow, physical  utility players or undersized speedy skaters with no game, it's a nice change of pace.

I meant as president, and figurehead only.  Leaving Shero the autonomy to do his job.  Not to have Lou pulling the strings any  more.

Not sure Lou would be ok with that though.  Not having the power to pull strings anymore is part of the reason he quit the organization.  Just imagine how crazy he'd be seeing players skate around with high numbers, facial hair, and long hair. And then there's the new uniform, lol.

Most likely, he'd try to enforce his old rules and demand to having some say in personnel decisions (draft, free agency). He wouldn't be able to come back here and be hands off, especially more so because he used to have full control of the place.

  7. I don't know about the Swedish experiment, but we now have three Swiss players on the roster  (Hischier, Mueller, Senn). That's gotta be a first.  Senn is probably a longshot to make the team but I'm stoked to see what Hischier can develop into.

I agree - the strategy and theory behind the picks all jibe with what equals success in today's NHL.

Someone pointed out, this is the antithesis of Lou/Conte philosophy of old which is A-ok by me.

Exactly, because "anyone who is described as overly physical or someone where the numbers weren't there but the heart is there" are the exact type of players Lou/Conte would go after. It's refreshing to see this new and opposite approach.

Liljegren going to Toronto is a little concerning for me.

I agree. They arguably got the best D man in the draft and they're already stocked. I only wish Lou drafted that well the past few years he was with us.

I wonder why Liljegren fell so low. Hmm.

    I really love this Nikita's Pick !

Models his game after Malkin and wears #71. Nice. The kid looks fluid on the ice, I'll say that much. Especially for someone who's 6 foot 6

I was talking about Lou not letting the social media post nonsense like that.

Yea I know. I lost my WiFi and had to edit the end of my paragraph.  I definitely see your point. I think their rationale is just poking fun at themselves because they expect a lot of traditional-minded fans to hate the new look.

Who knows man, God forbid if Shero doesn't do well here and Lou gets bored in Toronto after helping to turn them into a better organization, maybe you see him try to come back here as GM and dismantle everything Shero did. I'm sure he feels he left with a lot unresolved and I'm sure many fans would be ecstatic if he returned. Although he'd be really up there in age and he'd also have to convince the new ownership to go along with his plans.
