B. As others have repeated, the Blackwood pick seems unnecessary at this time unless we're shipping Schneider a few years down the line. That should have been a forward. But whatever...Shero gets my approval for at least trying for Barzal. In years past, we would have just sat there and did nothing. I don't want Frolik though...he'll cost a ton and only has a few years left at the level he's playing at. Continue with the youth movement!

I'll say this much...it's a joke that we couldn't package this pick and a player like Gelinas for Barzal. The Islanders basically got him with a steal. And instead of taking a player like Yan, we take a goalie. This draft is starting to remind me of last year's, when we had a chance to take Lemieux's kid but went with Quenneville. Shero might be the new GM but it's obvious the draft is still Lou and Conte's show.

I'm in a state of shock. When I saw the last name Palmieri I was convinced it was Nick, the ex-Devil. Which would make perfect sense in a Lou world. But Kyle Palmieri? I'm pleasantly surprised!

With Conte in charge (and Lou still on board), just assume it will be the wrong pick... and take it from there. My gut says it's Lawson Crouse or a player who is predicted to go between picks 20-45.

Lou should be GM until he's dead. And then after he's dead, he needs to be propped up in his chair and his corpse operated as a marionette by Stevens and Brodeur, as Marty wheels and deals as the new GM, but with dead Lou there to act as spiritual consigliere. McMullen needs to also be resurrected from the dead, and his corpse can own the team, along with dead Lou in the GM chair operated by Scotty and Marty. Dano should be named new team President because Dano is Mr. Devil. Conte should be Head of Scouting until he doesn't want to be anymore- and after he's dead, he'll retain the same role in a similar arrangement as with dead Lou. No changes. Ever. We'll be hoisting the Cup again in no time.
Add Chico Resch as our Head of PR and you've got somethin there. Lol. I wonder what phrases Dead Lou would repeat? "We're going to stay the course", "The current roster is fine but we always look for ways to improve", "I can't comment on that", "No major changes are needed"....

Lou thought we were 2 top six forwards from making the playoffs and if the owners didn't step in, he would have continued in this delusion. Lou was stuck in the glory days and needed to be moved out of the way.

She still looks pretty good for 54 (always depressing when certain actors that I'll always remember for their teenage roles (even though the actors themselves were clearly much older than the age of their teenage characters) are approaching 60...I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to be 45 in less than two weeks). And I give her credit...she doesn't appear to have had much work done, if any. No trainwreck duck-bill lips or any other crap. She's 54 and not trying to go through puberty a second time:

'Sign'? He's under a huge contract. They'd have to trade, and I doubt Pittsburgh trades him to a division riVal, especially one that will probably be competing with them for the duration of Malkin's contract.

Where the fvck is THAT coming from? You do know that John McMullen sold the team over FIFTEEN YEARS AGO. Vanderbeek was part of the YankeeNets affiliate that bought the Devils (Puck Holdings) in 2000, and then in 2004, VBK bought the team outright. Not sure why you'd even consider knocking the late McMullen.
Take a breather and chill the fvck out. I wasn't knocking him. My point was if he was the owner, Lou would still be running the show without question. Because he let Lou handle the entire operation....and I was referring to another post that mentioned McMullen.

If Dr. McMullen was still the owner, Lou would still be the infallible GM and we'd probably be trading our #6 pick for Kessel, signing Martin and Oduya in the off-season...and missing the playoffs again with an old, expensive roster. The new owners are the best thing that's happened to this franchise in a very long time!

If there's one major departure Shero takes from the old regime, I hope it's this. Paying a guy top dollar and seeing him actually produce would be such a welcome change.
