While the Devils and Wings have roughly the same amount of cap space left, I don't see us outbidding them if it's going to come down to money. We have to resign Parise and sign Larsson. We pretty much still need to shed salary just to have leg room cap wise without adding someone else. Wings on the other hand, all they really need to do is sign a player who can replace what Ralfalski brought to their team.
Then again, stranger things have happened. I remember Elias was lobbying for Kaberle last year. Maybe he's interested in playing for NJ and there's a verbel agreement in place until Lou can make the moves he needs to add him. Who knows?

They all look awkward, for the most part, I guess because most of them are young and still growing. Larsson and Hamilton seem to be the only ones who didn't, in my opinion. Hamilton looked pretty comfortable and seemed like he was having fun with it. Larsson didn't seem awkward but he did look kinda bored. I like the stick raise photo of him from the Devils website better.

I know I've said I don't really care who the coach is so long as he gets the team to play solid hockey and sticks around for more than a year. I stand by that.
However, if Zach is made captain and Eaves is hired as coach, I think it would be less likely that Eaves would lose the room. Not to mention... from what you guys have posted about Eaves' experience, it seems he'd be more ready to coach in the NHL then MacLean was. Also, truth be told it didn't help last season that we had Langenbrunner, a coach killer, on our team. I don't think the MacLean debacle should deter the organization from selecting a rookie coach who is actually READY for the position. I mean, look at Boucher.

I'm not gonna lie, I have to wonder who the Versus/TSN draft show would've compared Larsson to had someone ahead of us had drafted him. Or who would've drafted him had we not snagged him. I find it hard to believe Larsson was compared to Salo after we drafted him when other people/websites compared him to Lidstrom initially.

I'm glad Hamilton didn't get chosen by the Flyers. I didn't want to hate him. Also, I'm kinda surprised at Murphy not being chosen yet. I know he's small and all and one dimensional, but his skills sorta make up for his weaknesses.

I don't mind logos designed with state flags or elements in mind as long as it meshes in place with the team logo/colors/design. I think it's a mistake to go the route the Flames did on their shoulder patches and i am happy this sort of thing was not copycatted.
I wouldn't mind a secondary logo on the shoulders of the Devils uniforms or some minor tweaking of the uniform set (lace up neck would look good, IMO). I think it's high time to add some color/trim to the pants, too.
Fair enough... I was just thinking putting a mini state flag on the shoulders might look cool, especially considering the "Jersey's team" theme.
I definitely agree about the lace up neck. That would look nice. =]

Preds new design looks awesome. I love the guitar pick patch especially.
As for NJ getting an alternate jersey, while it'd be interesting (I'd buy one if they made an alternate), I don't think we need one considering we have the vintage ones. But I would like to see NJ's state flag added onto the current jersey as shoulder patches.

You know what? I almost don't care who the new coach is, as long as he can get the team to be successful and sticks around for more than a year. Then again, playing solid hockey is on the players. But still.

the rumor doesn't say that rolston or zubrus would be traded for burns. it says the wild have talked to NJ about burns, and that NJ wants to trade rolston or zubrus. i think one of them would have to be involved, though, but the deal would be much more complicated.
something like:
burns + 10th overall pick for
rolston + 4th overall pick + urbom
*shrug* If Rolston and Zubrus was mentioned as being shopped, then chances are that it's those two Lou is trying to use in a potential trade, which is why I said what I said. You're probably right though.
As far as trading the 4th overall pick, I don't think it's gonna happen, in my opinion. Not for a guy who could possibly walk when he becomes unrestricted. If we'd be packaging a pick, I'd think it'd be a a second rounder along with a prospect. Hope it's not Urbom though. (I think when he develops more he's gonna be awesome)

Apparently there have been whispers about the Wild and the Devils talking. Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere on here or if there's a seperate thread for trade rumors, so figured I'd post here. If we could actually land Burns for Rolston... well needless to say I have a feeling something, a prospect or a draft pick (or both) will be included with Rolston if he's sent to the Wild for Burns. Same with Zubrus.
I believe Burns is on the last year of his deal (correct me if I'm wrong), as is Rolston, so maybe it makes a little sense. Especially seeing that Rolston can indeed produce with the right players.

Around the time our season ended, some were writing off Huberdeau because of 'bust potential' due to his rising high in such a short period of time. Umm Strome has done the same exact thing, in less time. I'm sorry I'd rather get Larsson, Hamilton or even Murphy than either of those forwards. Just my opinion.

Lou says they're talking. Zach (per TG'S twitter and most likely his blog) confirmed they're talking. They'll get something done. Lou's not ignoring Zach now.

Not to mention I trust Zach's word that he wants to stay here, and Lou's word that they've started talking about a long term contract. They will get it done.

Apparently Nashville filed for arbitration too, with Shea Weber. For both teams it's merely to prevent offer sheets from coming in. Now that both Lou and Parise's camp are talking, I'm not worried about a deal getting done.

You're being sarcastic right? If you read Fire and Ice you'd see that Lou and Zach have opened talks. Filing for arbitration simply buys all parties involved negotiating time until the hearing, as it eliminates offer sheets coming in.

.... I'm not gonna start a flame war. But I will say this; I'd rather not have to sort through a bazillion things I deem garbage from other teams I don't care about. So a sincere thank you to the ones who post new threads about Devils news.
