Nash plans to play in All-Star game

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Blue Jackets left wing Rick Nash tested his bruised left foot on Thursday and intends to play in the NHL All-Star game this weekend.

Nash, 19, has been receiving treatment since getting injured Saturday. He did not make the Blue Jackets' two-game road trip this week.

After consulting with team doctors, trainers and Blue Jackets general manager Doug MacLean, Nash said he should be able to play in Sunday's All-Star game in St. Paul, Minn.

"He's fine," Blue Jackets spokesman Todd Sharrock said Thursday. "He put the skates on. It felt good, and he's going to participate."

Nash was injured while blocking a shot late in the first period of Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over Minnesota. He left the game near the end of the period and did not return.

Nash would be the first teen to play in the NHL All-Star game since Pittsburgh's Jaromir Jagr and Quebec's Owen Nolan in 1992.
