  1. 1. Taxpayer $$ for plutonium? Why?

    • Obama can use taxpayer $$$ to fund new weapons to get his healthcare reform passed and say he is a moderate?
      0
    • Listened to a few folks at the NSA and finally realized China and Iran's nuke capability is actually true!?

    • Pelosi and Obama demanded the military establishment get back to work on some R & D... "What are you folks doin' at Skunk Works? Iran has some deep bunkers biatches so go mine some "Cake" and build some bunka bustas!"
    • Diplomacy with despots and terrorists just does not work.

This is a brilliant, poignant read from an opinion in the Telegraph and worth 3 mins of your time whatever side of the aisle you're on:

"This timely Telegraph View's

editorial opinion on America's strategic objectives against Iran comes in the heels of the $3.8 trillion US budget for the Fiscal Year 2011 just released today. President Barack Obama spoke about it a while ago.

The defense budget took a

sizeable chunk: $700 billion--

about 500 bllion pounds. That's about 80 percent of the British

budget of 650 billion pounds,

and a quarter of UK's GDP. This

defense budget has nations like

Iran in mind. Under the four-

year (quadrinnial) defense

review the old doctrine of

defense plan and funding that

can conveniently fight two

simultaneous wars has been

jettisoned.

Iran's rejection of Obama's plea for reconcilliation and request to come to the

bargaining table for dialogue

on all outstanding issues,

Iran defiance of UN resolutions,

persistent and relentless

pursuit of her nuclear ambitions

as Telegraph View editorialized,

are driving forces shaping this

new robust defense budget and

plan.

Crisis in Yemen and current

earthquake catastrophe in Haiti

that has precipitated deployment

of 20,000 US forces, are such

incidents that have necessitated

beefing up American forces in an unstable world; according to Barbara Starr in a CNN news report fews hours before President Obama's news

conference.

US is beefing up its presence in the Persian Gulf in the face

of the Iran's threat in the

absence of the far-reaching

sanctions needed to really

pressure Iran as it did Libya. But, no one knows if these

muscular and robust arrangements

and presence would allay Israel's concerns about Iran's

resilience and determination in

pursuit of nuclear ambitions by

an implacable foe.

As I pointed out in previous

commentaries, the allies went

to war against Iraq they regarded as a grave threat to

regional stability. It turns

out, Iran is. In an article

written by Dan De Luce in the

Jan. 31 edition of AFP-Yahoo

News bulletin, $9.6 billion of

this budget will be spent on

helicopters; $2.7 billion on

unmanned drones--M-9 Reapers models that launch hell-fire

missiles; $10.7 billion for

42 new F-35 Joint Strike Force

jet fighters. There will be

$33 billion allocated for the

deployment and service of

the 30,000 troops surge in

Afghanistan. This budget is economically painful against the backdrop of the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars that have cost

$1 trillion and $1.6 trillion budget deficit.

But, Iran faces a serious

internal crisis of its own as

the size of the demonstrations

continues to escalate across

the nations, and with even some

conservative clerics siding

with the determined protesters

and civil libertarians;

according to Iran specialist Karim Sadgapour speaking on CNN.

An Iranian government that's

so unsustainably divided will

be weakened, but unlikely to

moderate, unless it collapses.

But, collapsing is not

foreseeable now as long as the

Republican Guards remain loyal to a ruthless, Islamic regime. That's the dilemma.
