  1. So the players will be paid this year... Bettman confirmed they will not be suspended without pay.

Does Cal Foote benefit since he was on a two-way deal, and was called up prior to the leave?  He was singed to a two way-deal, $350 AHL, $800k NHL deal?    If anything it helps with legal fees.

Do you think it's more likely that a new Nordique team can win a fan base in Quebec despite the Habs + other sports, or do you think that Atlanta attempt #3 is more likely to? I'm not against expansion, I don't really have an opinion on it in general, but I do not know why they'd pick Atlanta again. Hockey has already failed twice in Atlanta and there were real issues last time getting enough fan support.

That’s a different argument.   Your first point was Thrasher fans moved onto other teams and you’d have to pry them back or don’t watch hockey.

This would be true in Quebec, or anywhere else, too.

You can argue Quebec is more passionate, but it would compete against an original 6 and have a much smaller fan base.  QC hasn’t grown much (metro area is 850k) , and wouldn’t grow the sport…

Atlanta metro is 6.2mm, and they failed to launch because their expansion model wasn’t great…

Honestly though I don’t want expansion.  We have enough teams as is.

Cheering for a team and the amount of times you drive to go see them are two different things. My only point was a lot of Thrashers fans probably moved on to cheer for other "near by" teams(near by being relative in this context) or stopped watching hockey. Any new Atlanta team is going to have to pry them away from that other NHL team or pull them back into the sport. The Thrashers failed at both of those things.

I don't understand your argument unless you're against expansion entirely...  the above would apply to any location that doesn't currently have a hockey team.

Mukhamadullin just got his first NHL point tonight, didn't know he was playing in the NHL yet, but congrats!

Yep, just got called up. It was his third game.
Fabian Zetterlund has 14g, 7a with them as well through 51gp.

    Meier has 9g, 9a through 34gp.

Avs fans otoh seem pretty happy with Wood. They jumped all over the dude that made this list for putting him on there. But ofc everything seems better when you’re winning.

I find it hard to call UFA deals under 3mm as worst signings…  maybe on term?   But it just feels like reaching to me

In fairness to the Flames, this could be what they were led to believe by Dube.  Like I alluded to in a previous post, given what these guys were involved in (and were hoping to get away with), not being truthful about several things wouldn't come as any great shock to me at this point.

    https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/five-2018-wjc-players-to-plead-not-guilty-maintain-innocence-lawyers-1.2069655
The Flames said Dube was on indefinite leave to tend to his mental health. As part of their statement Tuesday, they said they “had no knowledge of pending charges at the time Dillon’s request for a leave of absence was granted.”

  7. I honestly don't care if the Devils signed them knowing they may be charged.
I absolutely do care if the Devils had any part in suppressing the investigation - which no one is accusing them of.

All players are innocent until proven guilty - and therefore free to sign and play in the NHL.
The entire NHL knew Cal Foote was suspected of this, which is why there was speculation at the time why he got the contract he did...  as no team wanted to commit anything substantial or long term.
If they are proven guilty they will serve their punishment.

After their punishment (legal and league suspensions), I'd be okay if any NHL team (including the Devils) signed them if they are eligible to play and still a good fit for the team.
If they aren't, I won't feel bad at all for them.

For anyone here (me included, as I posted a similar sentiment) discussing "How could like these people act like everything's fine?" and "I would feel so guilt-ridden and shameful", I know that NO ONE here would ever put someone in such a horrible position in the first place.

I think there's a lapse of judgement, especially when you're young and in that situation.   It doesn't excuse it, there are consequences to be had that will be life altering.

But I think these guys, if proven guilty, likely disassociate from it and spin it differently in their heads.   They aren't "horrible" people in their own perspective, but each of have done sh!tty things in our past, but most do not cross the line of criminality because of it.

Is there a possibility ownership isn't allowing Fitz to fire Ruff? Like how Jeff and Co kept Lou from making any money costing decisions even if it meant bettering the team?

I think there's a strong possibility that Fitz isn't able to fire Lindy without it severely limited his freedom... because he just signed Lindy in October to a multi-year extension.   Meanwhile, half a season later you want to boot him out the door?  It's a lot easier to say that injuries are the reason why this team isn't moving forward...

You can say Lindy isn't the coach for an injured team... and that you hired him to lead the roster you put together which is Jack Hughes and Dougie at the point.

Here it’s actually more Northern/Central/Southern, but some feel that there isn’t truly a Central Jersey.  But I’ve always felt that there are three regions, and having lived in all of them, they do have different “feels”.  Of course, within North Jersey, the eastern and western areas couldn’t feel more different.  As much as outsiders trying to pigeonhole all of NJ into one type, this state is about as diverse as it gets.

And that’s not even counting the shore.
