Jeez some of you are in a doom spiral. It's not the return anyone hoped , but the market is the market. You can't force people to trade with you.

At the end of the day they are assets for a player you have no guarantee will be with you in 3 months time. And give what fmhas been rumoured about the desired term, that might not be a bad thing.

And even with that there is still a chance Fitz can reach out an get something done in the summer. Toffoli is going to Winnipeg, there is little chance he wants to stay!!!

I'm 100% in the doom and gloom pit with this team. Everything about this team has really soured me this season. The 9% increase on my tickets has really thrown me off the ledge especially with the product that's being put on the ice.

Just realized it’s a national broadcast game… grrrrreat

I don't mind them, game goes quicker cause I don't watch any of the pre, intermission or post game stuff. Only bother with that stuff if it's the Devils broadcast.

  3. I hate it, 16 teams is already half the league. That's enough teams. I would much rather they bring back the 1-8 seeds in the conferences over doing anything else.

Friedmans point of view sucks here too, all about money. Yay let's make the owners more money! Yay! Are ticket prices gonna come down for us? Concessions? Merch? Nah cause we can all go fvck ourselves.

    Fitz?

You guys have no idea if his personal relationship affected his decision to fire Lindy lol

Just watch the first minute, that alone speaks volumes. It's a pretty safe bet to say it absolutely did. He's super dramatic and super emotional.

Personally it feels like it shows how out of touch with reality these guys really are. It's not like Lindy won't be able to support his family but you would never guess that with how Fitz acts. Hell I'm pretty sure he still gets paid for whatever his contract has left anyway and now he gets to get paid to do nothing after being a complete failure this year. Us regular people wouldn't get jack sh!t, maybe a few weeks pay or a month tops. Must be nice.

"these are real people" lol ok.

    Fitz?

Thinking out loud here (or I guess typing):

We saw a lot of reporters from Monday talking about how this was an emotional decision for Fitz to fire Lindy. Even in the press conference, it was very apparent this one stung him to the core. Which leads me to my question: has FItz wandered into the personal side of the personal/professional line as a GM?

For example, I'm an instructor in the aviation field. No matter how good of a person I think my student is, or if it is even a friend of mine, I have to grade objectively for their safety, mine and everyone else. I'm sure the same can be said for literally any profession as you develop your organizations: remove the emotional element and strictly assess people on their work performance and the quality of that performance.

Flip to Monday, and there was one tweet (x?) that stuck out to me almost glaring warning sign, not going to search for it before I leave for work, but the gist of it was 'Every personnel move Fitz makes it takes a toll on him. Firing a coach, trading a player, etc'

I'm not asking for a robotic GM, or one with no discernible emotions like a mafia don (ahem....), but I worry if Fitz' now emotional ties is slowing down his ability to make rapid change when he sees a glaring need. Be it goaltending or the now already processing of firing his beloved mentor.

CR said it in another thread, but Fitz is at a critical crossroads and a few short months will decide his fate, and more importantly, the direction of the franchise in the near future.

I commented about this yesterday, I hate it. It shows how immature he is and how he can't seperate personal friendships from business and this is a business. It's why he didn't fire Lindy months ago like he should have. He cost us any potential possibility of turning this season around.

Go watch the press conference. Dude looked like he was crying before it started. This isn't some tragic event. Lindy has been paid very very very well for many years with us and other teams to coach a game. He'll be just fine, he didn't die like the way Fitz acts.

He also didn't learn anything from Shero holding out too long on firing Hynes. I've really soured on Fitz over this whole situation.

If Jack winds up hoisting a Cup (or keeps racking up points, as he has in putting up 214 of them in 173 games since the start of his third season), none of us will care about what anyone else thinks.  Also isn't a fan base in the NHL that would mind having Jack on their team.

That's how it always goes...when the guy's not on your team, and with 31 other fanbases around looking to goof on other teams' players, some things are just bound to become magnified, especially due to social media, as you allude to.  Sure, some guys have that way of NEVER attracting unnecessary attention to themselves, but sh!t happens.

    I already don't care lol

And Jack got trolled on social media by the Kings’ dopey mascot and their Twitter after they whipped us twice. A lot of crap out of context gets memed, if that was a one off it’d be one thing to give him a pass for a slightly out of context quote but he’s been ‘moody’ in general since mid-December and the first Ducks game where he was in whiner mode then, following that up with a couple of crucial giveaways against the Flyers two nights later.

Now more people are seeing it because with the team doing worse people look for it, plus it’s naturally going to be worse at this point but his maturity (and the lack of accountability for it) has been an underlying issue for a while.

In reference to the mascot and memes...who gives a sh!t? You're better off not browsing social media in general, especially the comments section.

  6. Late in the 3rd period we had only 3 guys on the ice for way too long before they realized they needed to send out 2 more. Have no clue what they were doing there.

Glad I'm not going Thursday or Saturday, absolutely sick of this team and ready for the season to be done. Normally I'd do a double header but I'll just be at Red Bull Arena Saturday night instead.

So he says this a year after getting traded why?

Maybe cause they were talking about his recent injury, the full quote about it really isn't pointing fingers per say cause he acknowledged he didn't say no either but it does track with what we have seen with Jack, Timo and Nico

    "

"I'm not saying anything. It's just one of those things where I think if I could have hindsight, I would have waited a lot longer," Blackwood said. "If you play on something that's not 100% comfortable, you start compensating, and everything else falters. I'm wiser and older now. The older you get, the more you can kind of put your foot down and suit up. I don't think I'll have that situation ever again."

As for if he had control in New Jersey:

"It was conversations. We talked about it together. Obviously, you can always say no," Blackwood explained. "It was one of those conversations we had where it's probably not going to get worse if you keep going, but it might take longer to get back to 100."

He confirmed that taking longer to get back to 100% is exactly what happened. He knows that if he ever gets hurt again, like he is now, he will wait until he is fully healthy, regardless of what is said to him."

He said the stadium series gave him hope...
I would have rather been blown out by the Flyers if it meant he was fired then.

I think the season was toast either way. Only memorable thing of this season was the outdoor game, it's all we have so I'm glad we won.
