Devils fans aren't retards, nobody in their right mind could really enjoy this man. They like Chico because he's the Devils analyst. It doesn't matter who had that job because you sheep would just talk about how hilarious and smart he is.

I don't care about Tri and his posts. I know hockey and I watch alot of hockey. Bottom line is Chico is a joke. He's not funny, he's not good at his job, and he is downright annoying at times. Only Devils fans would like Chico because he's a Devils analyst but I guess thats all that matters. Are there any fans out there that didn't get douche chills when Chico was doing that kick dance during the Chico Eats segment? It's lame and anyone that doesn't realize how bad Chico is as an analyst is lost. Also, if Chico makes you laugh then you are probably the kind of person that enjoys watching Jay Leno. Corny as hell.

In the word's of Billy Crystal: It's not fun, it's not funny Since I'm here, I thought of something else that annoys me about Chico. If a player takes a puck or stick to the face Chico screams really loud, "OH NO"! I'm sitting at home thinking that the player lost an eye or broke his neck and it usually turns out to be nothing. Ridiculous.

I wanted this thread to die because I'm feeling bad about trashing Chico because he's such a nice man. But did anyone hear his horrible joke? Lupul just found a loophole in the defense. In his credit he did go on to say that was a bad line. Also, he said that this is the last game they'll be together before the trade deadline. The trade deadline is March 4th and they have a game Tuesday March 3rd against the Leafs. Is he missing the Leafs game or is he just clueless?

Listen I don't wanna get into name calling because you live in Iowa, you've suffered enough. I've already posted 12 color analysts who I think are better than Chico in a previous post. It's fine if you love listening to Chico's ramblings or his unfunny quips but you called him one of the best. That is why I said your post was a joke. If you wanna call him serviceable thats fine. But one of the best?? Not even close.

I think Mickey Redmond is the Wings guy and I didn't list him because Im not a huge fan of the Wings broadcast. He blatantly roots for the Wings but it doesn't have the charm of a Peter Mcnab. He almost sounds like a fan that was put in the booth sometime. The Sharks guy is Drew Remenda and I think he's pretty good and I don't find him weasel-y at all. He's insightful and not too homerish and at least he knows whats going on as far as on ice play. As where Chico seems lost. I'm not gonna keep repeating the same stuff. Most Devils fans seem to like Chico and he isn't going anywhere so enjoy him.

Posting your high GPA and big salary that seems to indicate you are lacking in other areas. I'm not sure what your salary has to do with your immense lack of hockey knowledge but post away, tiny.

Ed Olczyk, Peter McNab, Marc Crawford, Harry Neale, Craig Simpson, Greg Millen, Billy Jaffe, Darren Eliot, Andy Brickley, Bob Errey, Daryl Reaugh, and Mike Greenlay. I didn't include Potvin and Micheletti because their constant complaining about the referees is really annoying. Pang screaming after every great save and big hit is a little obnoxious, I'm not a huge fan of him either. Chico is with them in my bottom 4.

I don't mind blatant homerism. I like the Pittsburgh guys because at least they know whats going on. I still enjoy Peter Mcnab making noises in the backround after a Avalanche goal. Chico just seems lost to me.

There are alot "special posters" on HF but there is also a nice sample of quality hockey fans. I'm pretty sure the knowledgable, reasonable hockey fan does not enjoy Chico. As a matter of fact I bet they, much like myself, get frustrated listening to him. Even yesterday, Doc was calling the game and the play went offside. Chico cut him off and said I think they are calling a penalty. Then 20 seconds later he says sorry Doc it was just an offside play. It's an honest mistake that I could live with if it only happened occassionally but those mistakes are the norm. It's almost as if he has no idea what's going on half the time which is surprising because he obviously knows the game. Another example from yesterday's game was the Zajac goal. He starts screaming, "I don't know Doc is that the hattrick for Parise"? It was clearly a great pass from Parise to Zajac for the goal and Chico had NO idea, until the 2nd replay. Is he watching the game? Does he need glasses? I know everyone loves the guy but in a big playoff game I don't wanna hear Chico rambling on. He's goofy and he's lost at times. The Chico Eats segment is amateur hour. Doc is the best PBP man in the game and the color man really doesn't matter so I think Chico gets a pass but nominating him for an Emmy is a total joke.

You clearly don't watch much out of town hockey if you think Chico is one of the best. Thats the biggest joke I've read in this thread. Who the hell wants to watch hockey on mute? Watching hockey in surround sound is amazing especially when the crowd is loud. Why should I be punished because Chico is a goofball that rambles? I actually feel bad bashing him because he such a nice person but thats not what this thread is about. I would love to put this thread in a the "Hockey Talk" board over at HF and see what non Devils fans think about Chico. I bet it would get ugly.

One of my other problems with Chico is when it takes him 4 replays to figure out exactly what happened. After watching Center Ice I personally believe Chico is one of the worst TV color men in the NHL.

I honestly don't believe that so many people would enjoy Chico if, lets say, he was the Rangers color man. First, he's not funny. If you think he is then your sense of humor is warped. I get more belly laughs from Carrot Top. I'm assuming that people chuckle, mostly out of embarrassment, from him. Second, I hate that he doesn't know how to let the game breathe. He rambles on and on and on after a nice play that he sometimes steps on the best play by play man in the game. Then when Doc needs a break and he actually wants Chico to jump in, he won't. He'll stay silent until Doc asks him a question. His timing is awful. I don't let him get in the way of my enjoyment of watching the Devils but it's getting close. I think the people saying they like Chico are saying that because he's a Devils guy. He is not a good broadcaster. I've met him and he is very nice and he does try to help the young guys like Clarkson by giving them tips but that doesn't make him a good color man.

The hockey entertains me. Chico doesn't unless you are talking about those wacky Chico eats segments or the hilarious gag when he says "the unseen hand".

He's a nice man. He's a homer. But he's awful at his job. He rambles on and on when he shouldn't and then when the perfect time comes for him to jump in, he goes silent. Doc will then say something like, "Any thoughts on the game so far, Chico"? Very unprofessional.

Ridiculous. Thats why most fans and writers could never be a GM in this league. People let emotions get in the way of whats best for the team. According this person Lou should risk losing Weekes so Clemmensen doesn't have to go to the minors for a week because he played well for 4 months. Clemmensen played last year with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. How about an article praising the Devils for giving him another shot this year which in turn will probably lead to a nice contract for next season? When I read or hear these things about how horrible Lou is for sending Clemmer down it's either 1 of 2 things. The first is an emotional person who doesn't understand the situation. The second are the people who just can't wait to bash Lou and the organization for any little thing they do and could really give a crap about Clemmensen. There are alot of number 2s out there especially in Canada. Lou is a genius and most of the fans that have some common sense realize that he knows exactly what he's doing.

Gomez got what he always wanted, a ton of money and the Broadway stage. I don't think any Devils fan should be angry at him because he, along with Drury and Redden, has handicapped the Rangers for a long time, as long as some dumb GM doesn't bail them out. The Rangers and their fans are already sick of him and his name keeps popping up in every trade rumor.
