    Some solid info in there.

Walsh basically sounds like Butcher 2.0...a guy who needs a lot of protected minutes to have any chance to stick.  At the NHL level, maybe he's a warm body for a bad team with nothing to lose for a couple of years.

And goes without saying that along with him, some guys whose names we're familiar with (Talvitie, Thompson, etc) are longshots at best to stake claims on NHL jobs here...they'll soon be graduating to their next pro stops, likely out of the Devils organization.

We know Nemec's future is blindingly bright, but outside of Clarke, Foote, and Holtz, not much else down there right now...of course, not like AHL teams are full of top prospects.  Curious to see what Clarke (he turns 22 on 4/24) and Foote (turns 23 in November) bring during preseason.  These are the kinds of guys who you hope can come up on cheap deals and contribute in bottom 6 roles, as the Devils have to find way to pay their top-end talent.

I'm still a believer in Tyce Thompson but he needs to take a big step next season.

  2. There's a beauty to the way they played defense. With the NHL on a short break, I've been watching the NBA, and no NBA team plays defense like UConn did. There might be rules preventing that kind of defense, I don't know, I'm not an expert on it.

They were dead to me the same day.

They were never great but I do miss the Coleman/Petrovic teams.    I wanted one of those tie-dye Coleman jerseys so bad when I was a kid but they were never really available for sale back then.

My first NBA game was Nets-Celtics in 1984. The Nets were decent back then, but Larry Bird and company destroyed them. Those Nets were led by Otis Birdsong and Buck Williams. And Darryl Dawkins, who the fans loved.

Sorry guys but if you folks don't think Luke should be playing the last 2 games, I think you're all nuts.

There is a strong possibility that there will be an injury of some kind in the playoffs on D, and if that happens, Luke is playing, because no chance would they seriously play Smith over him.

Hell I think you can make an argument to play him in the playoffs if he impresses in those two games anyway, but yeah he should be playing these final 2 so if he has to go in, he has some game experience.

Will he make possible mistakes, maybe, will he also be the most dynamic defenseman this team has seen in two decades, yes, yes he for sure will be the second he steps on the ice.

I think he should play in both regular season games remaining.

  5. Phil Housley had that reputation as a “bad team” defenseman too. It’s important to remember that these types of players are so good on the power play and that doesn’t show up in plus-minus. But Housley was one-dimensional and I suppose Karlsson is as well.

A team SHOULD NOT have to play back to back games where the opening face offs are less than 24 hours apart.

    No excuse for that.

Back to backs with significant travel, too.

He did get an assist in his last game.  Maybe that gets his offense going a little.

And what a nifty little pass that was to Jack. It was nice when the Devils had that third line going with Palat, Boqvist and Haula. These lines never last long. Lindy likes line juggling as we all know.

If Fitz is only gonna get a 7th for him I'd rather they just put him through waivers, nobody is gonna claim him anyway.

Yeah, where's the risk? Even if someone claims Blackwood, where's the risk?

The risk is having to play him!

Dammit, Canes banked a point.  They bank the second and I’m pretty much giving up on the Devils winning the Metro.  Even if the Canes don’t snag that second point, I just can’t see the Devils having much of a shot without getting a ton of help from unlikely sources.

    Yeah, can't disagree.

3-3 in the third.  As we’ve seen a A LOT this season, two-goal leads are far from a sure thing these days.  Teams come back from them all the time.

The only good thing about that is they played Brass Bonanza two more times. It's Hartford Whalers Day.
