Ah gotcha, didn't know that.  What a fool.  To think, maybe if they had him that puts them over the hump and they get by Vegas.  I doubt it, but you never know.

I imagine the deal in place probably included what was sent to St. Louis for Paul Stastny (2018 1st, Erik Foley), and though I do think Hoffman is better than Stastny it would be hard to see Hoffman making a bigger impact for the Jets than Stastny did, he was fantastic for the Jets.

    Did/does he have a NMC?

And yeah you're right, he must be a moron, especially if he's still with that chick and any of these allegations turn out to be true.

Yeah Hoffman has an NTC, wouldn't lift it for Winnipeg for god knows why

It's not an assumption at all - Hoffman was the subject of trade rumors for the better part of half of the season, and there were no takers.

Just regarding that, there were takers for Hoffman, he gunned down a done deal with Winnipeg a few weeks out from the deadline, just FWIW

EDIT: Also regarding that, I don't know what kind of lunatic wouldn't have wanted to go from Ottawa to Winnipeg last year. I seriously question Hoffman's intelligence lol

If wilde is anywhere near what this person writes, he's not available at 17... so scratch him off the list, :)

My gut feeling tells me Florida at 15th takes him, haven't really seen that anywhere just my gut. It's possible he falls a bit though because like I write, he is still pretty raw, I think he could boom into a real star though.

  5. If you're interested, I took a deeper dive into comparing Denisenko and Kravtsov, the top two players coming out of the KHL-VHL-MHL system this year. Includes some plays of theirs I've clipped as well, if you want to check it out

Also planning on doing an article like this on Wilde vs Miller and Dobson vs Bouchard before Friday, so if you're interested in that I'll post those as well.

  6. Bob McKenzie's final rankings for TSN just came out, always find these the most insightful because they're compiled by polling scouts from NHL teams

If the Rangers get Oliver Wahlstrom, I will be very sad.

Here’s the kind of thing I’m talking about with regards to the Rag rivalry that out of town fans would normally not know about- this is the rink right near my hometown. This is unacceptable. The Devils need to do something about this. 1ea3139344345b143b4ea83895bf62fe.png

Skylands is where my team practiced when I played in high school. Always despised seeing Rangers sh!t around the rink, fvck that.

Didn't Ottawa already pass the point where they could just tell Colorado it's this year's pick instead of next year's, and now Colorado has to agree to it?  If so, why does Colorado agree to give them their pick back for anything other than the main piece in a trade for Karlsson?

I was under the impression that Ottawa had until the day of the draft to notify Colorado, but I may be wrong. I was listening to the 31 Thoughts podcast today and Friedman was still discussing the Ottawa situation as if the Sens still had the option of surrendering this year's pick instead of next year's, but again he might be mistaken as well.

And then when Ottawa doesn’t win the lottery next year they’ll look even dumber.

If Ottawa is as bad next year as we're expecting them to be, they would probably end up at 4th or 5th again anyways if they lose the lottery, so they would be at square one and get a prospect of similar quality without risking giving away a franchise center prospect in Jack Hughes. To me it's a no-brainer, but it is Ottawa we're talking about.

Loved this, I'll look stuff up from time to time. You have a few folks higher than most, some lower. Ty Smith/Merkley? 10/11  Farabee at 19?

Thanks man really appreciate it  The upside of Smith and Merkley with their skating and offensive awareness is really exciting to me, if they boom they're really going to blossom into stars. At the same time, I like Farabee and he has some offensive qualities that are quite Parise-like but in general he doesn't have the offensive tools that excite me like some of the guys I have ahead of him (namely Denisenko, Kupari, Bokk, Kravtsov), which is why I have him slid just a little further back to 19th even though I see him most likely being gone before 15 or 16.

I don’t know what he enjoys about it, honestly.... they play in a sh!thole, they’ve won exactly d!ck in 35 years, the organization itself is run like the dumpster fire it is, and he has one playoff series win in 9 years. Sounds like a blast.

It's probably just important for him to someday feel like he was the main reason the Isles got to the promised land rather than parachute on to a team that already has some stars in place. I agree the Isles have been a sh!t show the past couple decades, but some players just want to feel like they helped build something, just like OEL signing his extension with that mess of a team in Arizona.

If you're Ottawa, I think you seriously consider giving up your #4 overall to the Avalanche this year to hold on to your first-round pick next year. I think we're about to see expansion-level Ottawa for a few years, and a proper re-build cannot and will not happen without a top-2 or 3 pick. This year's 4th overall likely isn't a franchise player.

It’s sounding a lot like Zadina is gonna fall to that 4 spot, and as much as I like Zadina, you can’t risk giving up Jack Hughes next year who by my judgement is probably on the same level as Auston Matthews and Jack Eichel. I agree Ottawa should just wash their hands of this and give the #4 to Colorado

I think Bokk is a reach at 17. Wilde/Miller for me.

I agree we could probably move back to around 25 or so and still get him, but I wouldn't blink an eye if we decided on him at 17th, I really like him.

Also for the record, I'm pretty in favor of trading down from 17th depending on who is there, if someone like Ty Smith falls I would keep the pick but I like the idea of sliding back a few picks and taking someone like Bokk or Sandin and picking up a draft pick or two along the way.

In my opinion, pick 17 is right about where there's a drop off in talent, at least as far as defensemen go. Bode Wilde will likely be picked right in the middle of round 1, which would leave us with K'Andre Miller, Rasmus Sandin, and (maybe) Jonny Tychonick as the next best defensemen. If Shero is set on taking a dman at 17, then I suspect he'll trade down, hoping to select one of those three later in the first. But if he's going BPA, which I think we all suspect he'll do, there are quite a few good forwards who will be available in the mid-first round. If Kravtsov or Bokk makes it to 17, you definitely need to take one of them. These two are late risers with superstar potential. Rasmus Kupari is another player that, although raw, is super talented with very high upside - probably what you would consider your classic "risky" pick. Another player to potentially be excited about is Martin Kaut, a Czech RW that is a mature, complete player that fits Shero's mold. He played against men in the Czech league this season, and finished the season with a strong playoffs performance, with 5 points in 7 games (only one player on the team was better with 6 points in 7 games). This is another guy that I think could be a steal. Interestingly, he was on the Czech team for the World Championships, and Zadina was not.

To summarize, I think the Devils are in a fine spot.  In my opinion, it makes most sense to shoot for the stars and go for one of the high potential forwards. I understand that the organization needs more defense, but none of the guys likely to be available at 17 are even 2 years from being NHL ready. We've seen how much organizational needs can change, so it does not make much sense to skip on a really good forward for the sake of filling a need.

Of the guys that will realistically be there, Dom Bokk is definitely who I want the most. Kid has the talent to boom into a star, he reminds me a ton of David Pastrnak. If Bode Wilde is there at 17 I'd take a long look at him too, I've grown to like him more and more.

In all fairness, if you look up other pictures of her you can tell that one posted is not a flattering angle...unless she had some plastic surgery between those pictures and now.

TSN reporting that things might be complicated between the Jets and Trouba again. He's an RFA. Is his compensation worth tendering an offer? He is probably going to get a lot of money....probably a first, second, and a third round pick just to sign him. I guess doesn't make much sense if you can get Carlson for nothing.

    7 minutes ago, MadDog2020 said:

We also don’t have a second or a third, so it’s not even worth thinking about.

The RFA compensation would come in the form of 2019 Draft picks since this would theoretically happen after the draft, but we did move out 2019 3rd in the Maroon trade which would make an offer sheet impossible unless you're getting him cheap. Doesn't rule out of the possibility of trading for his rights from Winnipeg, however, it would just be expensive because Trouba is a hell of a player.

  16. This article from the Hockey News sites us at the best destination for Tavares outside of the Islanders

    http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/top-five-destinations-for-john-tavares

If we could commandeer Tavares’ brain and make his choice for him, I dare someone to find a better fit for him than the Devils. They’re an up-and-coming franchise with a promising pivot to build around already in Nico Hischier. They have what may soon be the reigning league MVP in Taylor Hall, who just happens to be a left winger and would be an awfully nice linemate for Tavares. Hall carried the Devils to the playoffs, with his 93 points besting his closest teammate by 41, so imagine what he could do working with Tavares. The Devils would become an instant Cup contender. They also have more help on the way in years to come, having sent more players than any other team to the 2018 World Junior Championship.

I've literally never heard anyone say that, ever, other than on this message board.

Yup, if you aren't from here you will never understand. I was abused in high school EVERY DAY that I wore Devils stuff. Which was basically every day. Then, senior year, 1994, we all know what happened and I had to deal with that.

The culture took a pretty big shift after 1995, 2000 and 2003, though much of that was also the fact that I had become an adult, gotten a job, etc.. Even still, I have a few Rangers fans among my friends (mostly husbands of my wife's friends, not people I chose lol), and they will still have comments here or there. But its funny, I didn't hear from any of them this year when the Rangers Shattenkirk'ed the bed and we made the playoffs...

My senior year in high school was literally the opposite experience yet similar at the same time. There were a few Rangers fans I went through junior high and high school with and there was some back and forth there, but then there was my senior year in high school – 2012. The Rangers were in 1st place in the East for a large majority of the season, and suddenly all of these "Rangers fans" came out of the wood work. Even people who previously called themselves Islanders fans, were suddenly die-hard Rags fans just because they're the big name New York team that was doing well. I'd hear it after every Rangers win, every Devils loss, and especially leading up to and after head to head matchups during that year, nonstop leading up to that matchup in the Conference Finals.

After Henrique scored to send us to the Cup final, it all stopped. All of those fvckers shut the fvck up, because I won, there was nothing anyone could say that wouldn't change the fact the Devils got one over the Rangers to go to the Cup Final, and it felt so good to just let all those bandwagoners sit in that fact.

Fvck the Rangers and especially fvck New York sports, the bandwagon culture that this state and city has is one of my most hated things in all of sports.

  18. Is it just me or does anyone else keep getting chills watching Ovechkin lift the Cup from last night? Holy sh!t dude that raw emotion, that's the most emotional Cup hoist I can think of. Ovechkin wanted that in the worst way, I can't help but feel so incredibly happy for him.
