Still have not noticed this audio issue you guys keep talking about. Idk how mine is any different as it’s the MSG feed just through Center Ice. Weird.
As for the game, pretty entertaining. At least two truly laughable calls against us, but it’s hard to complain about officiating when we’re gifted a 5-on-3 off one play. And boy was it atrocious. Recchi might be a problem.
The kids mostly looked good. I have no doubt at this point that we have a future star in Hughes. Bratt showed a little rust, but overall played a decent game. That tic-tac-toe play with Hughes would have been gorgeous had Jack buried it. I also love Ty’s enthusiasm and attitude. Every time they show the kid he’s laughing and talking with his teammates. I think he’ll wear a letter in a year or two.
Palms was better. He at least made a couple nice plays defensively. The guy I’m close to being down with is Gusev. He’s been truly awful. Flubbing shots left and right, squandering good chances, and just overall sucking at both ends of the ice. He’s costing himself some serious money playing like this in a contract year. At this point I’d scratch him and put in a younger guy like Boqvist who could still be part of this team’s future.

Pretty sure they wanted Chayka for some multi-sport position. I don’t think he was ever a real candidate for GM of the Devils. It does feel nice that other teams want Fitz though. I think he’ll end up staying. He got to handpick his own coach, he has two up and coming #1OA’s (one who might be a superstar someday soon), an elite young goalie, etc. The only thing I’d give the Pens job over the Devils is Mario is a pretty great owner.

I would much rather stay in NJ if I’m Fitz. Our under 23 group is top 5 in the league, and the Pens are about to enter some bleak years pretty soon. That cupboard is bare once their aging stars retire. I personally think their window is already closed, whereas ours (hopefully) will be opening up in the near future.

They’re 3-3-1 while missing some key players. I think most are happy with that.

Bratt didn’t miss a beat. You would never know he hadn’t played since March. Or that this was his first game under a new head coach. He was honestly the only player that looked like he can keep up with Hughes.
