Birch
Starting: Frazee, Fraser, Ruggeri, Vasyunov, Pelley, Tallackson Scratches: Murphy, Halischuk, Rheaume, Wiseman Lines: Vasyunov-Pelley-Tallackson Bergfors-Vrana-Gionta DiSalvatore-Swift-Zharkov Leblond-Mills-Davis Fraser-Ruggeri, Spiller-Salmela, Eckford-Magnan PP DiSalvatore-Swift-Zharkov-Eckford-Salmela Bergfors-Vrana-Gionta-Eckford-Salmela Berfors?-Vrana-Gionta-Fraser-Ruggeri PK Davis-Mills-Fraser-Spiller? Pelley-Gionta-Magnan-Salmela? End of 1: Lowell 2 - 1 0 - 1 Whitmore(Johnson,Hunter) @ 2:29 - Whitemore crashes to the front of the net. 1 - 1 Vrana(Gionta,Bergfors) @ 4:12 - Vrana gets Gionta pass at the top of the crease to score. 2 - 1 Zharkov (DiSalvatore,Swift) @ 8:19 - A little confusion among the Portland defense - Zharkov scoots in, picks up the loose puck to score. Portland struck first and early, but Lowell picked up the pace and came right back with two goals. One penalty during the period: Hunter hooking Mills. Not much going for the Lowell PP. Pirates had a SH chance, Frazee stopped it. Lowell leads in shots 17/9. End of 2: Lowell 5 - 2 3 - 1 Leblond (Davis) @ 2:54 - Davis (or Mills?) passed through the crease to a waiting Leblond - his 1st of the season. 4 - 1 Spiller (Mills) @ 6:44 - Spiller from back between the circles, high on the glove side. 5 - 1 Pelley (Tallackson,Vasy) @ 17:28 - Pelley scores with Enroght down. 5 - 2 Gerbe (Gragnani) @ 18:32 - catches Frazee leaning left, shoots right, down low. Crazy period. Lowell scored. Enroth left the ice for some reason. His backup, Jean Ray (professional career = 1 game with Wheeling Nailers) came on. Lowell scored again. Ray - done. Enroth came back. Zharkov and Ruggeri both took hooking penalties - PK kept Pirates from scoring. One non-call - Spiller was tripped right into the boards. End of 3: Lowell 7 - 3 5 - 3 Gerbe(Zagrapan,Darche) @ 7:03 -Devs, including Frazee, went behind the net to play the puck, leaving an empty net for Gerbe. 6 - 3 Mills (Salmela,Davis) @ 7:41- Shot from the blue line resulted in rebound - Mills got it. 7 - 3 Swift (unassisted) @ 10:47 - PPG- Swift coming out of the box, on a breakaway. Gerbe scored to keep things interesting (for the Portland fans), but Mills scored just 18 seconds later. Swift got called for tripping, but with around 25 secs. left on that penalty, Portland got a hooking call. Swift scored the final goal of the game, coming out of the box and catching a breakaway. Total shots: Lowell 42, Portland 40. Lowell 1/3, Portland 0/3. Stars - a Lowell sweep! 1. LOW - 5 Matthew Spiller 2. LOW - 23 Michael Swift 3. LOW - 19 Brad Mills Edited January 10, 2009 by Birch

Shtikl
OT: anyone know when Halischuk is suppose to be back? Ask Tom Gulitti, he can probably find out. The AHL doesn't have roster caps! So the L-Devils don't have to put anybody on Injured Reserve and they don't have to disclose an injury in order to scratch a player.
