Devils731
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7292/news Sep 10 Carter Gaddis, of The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Devil Rays SP Scott Kazmir recorded his 200th strikeout of the season Monday, Sept. 10, against the Boston Red Sox. Kazmir joins Chicago Cubs SP Mark Prior, New York Mets SP Oliver Perez, New York Yankees SP Roger Clemens, Chicago Cubs P Kerry Wood, Chicago Cubs P Ryan Dempster, San Francisco Giants SP Barry Zito and Detroit Tigers SP Jeremy Bonderman as the only active pitchers to strike out 200 or more in a season before age 24. ----------------------- That's actually pretty crappy company to be in. A lot of blown out arms or dead arms on that list. It's a nice accomplishment though. The only older guy on the list is Clemens and he's also the only one that didn't go in the crapper(of the ones who have had time to)
Derek21
Interesting stuff. I think some of the names are pretty good though it's kind of sad what happened to the Cubs dynamic duo. They obviously threw too many innings and never were the same which is pretty sad. Kazmir had some injuries last year but the D-Rays were wise and didn't rush him back. He got off to a slow start this year but has come on lately and pitched well. You still can't take the Mets off the hook for that trade. Even though it hasn't really hurt them in the standings because the Braves and Phillies are classic teases. I do find it ironic that Victor Zambrano is back in the majors under another Duquette team. brodeurrocks
Wow....sounded really impressive until I saw the list of pitchers he joined....hopefully (other than Clemens) he fairs better in the future than most of that group.
