  1. #32, yep. Proof (hope this worked): http://www.legendsofhockey.net:8080/Legend...2&photo=6#photo
  2. After that '95 playoffs performance...Claude has to be a legend to Devils fans. You gotta love Claude--stupid penalties and all. Now Holik I can see holding a grudge with, he cannot come back...the Rags are not as bad as going to the Avs (and helping them win a Cup) at least IMHO.
  3. Not meant to be I guess...money and ego. But then again, Uncle Lou got the necessary milage outta Claude I guess. And his stops in Phoenix and Dallas have had minimal to zero impact...and he wasn't even wearing the ole #22 in Dallas. What a shame. I think former Devil Kirk Muller was, no? Ahh, Muller yet another fan favorite! LOL!
  4. That is the frickin' cover the week follwing the Cup Finals? Come on. We (the Devils) get a news strip in the lower right corner? BRUTAL!
  5. I was thinking more the agitator/pest/cheater/borderline dirty role...Each of those guys are fiesty and Mad Dog talks trash and Friesen is kinda edgy...but none of those guys remind me of Claude per se...although I love the fact that each of the those guys are Devils and that one was an undrafted FA and we trade for the others... Langs and Friesen kinda remind me more of a Randy McKay type, no? And not Jimbo either...he is the resident goon with no speed and hands of stone! But I love him too...his role is like that of Peluso without the playoff scring touch (and maybe necessary ice time)...
  6. Anybody else think about this...a friend of mine was teasing me about this throughout the Cup Finals...Claude was amazing in '95 (and in '96 too--IN DENVER) and played his role in '00. There really isn't a guy on the roster playing that role, is there?

    Time To Face It

Same here. Maybe winning a game or two at most. After dominating Sens and eventually winning in 7, everything was gravy after that...so very proud of this team--not the most talented Devils team, but quite possibly the most "together" team and that speaks volume for the vets (Scotty, Marty, Dano, Nieds, Mad Dog, Pando, Sarge) and the front office for molding the team, especially with the relatively recent additions of Langs, Nieuwy and then this season Grant and Pascal. It seems to me that Langs and Marshall have really fit in well with this team, having many players of similar age on the team...and are kinda leaders on the ice. They are vocal guys (especially Marshall it seems) and they have won before. Great job by Uncle Lou and his staff to target two guys like this who they knew would be great Devils players--and they certainly are. I still miss Arnott (I know, not a popular opinion, but hell I still miss Guerin too), but I am happy if the end result is a Cup. I mean trading Guerin got us a Cup, trading Arnott has now also garnered us another Cup!
  8. Just testing my new avatar! Thanks.

    Touch The Trophy!

I guess it could be a superstition both ways then, no? Don't touch it so you don't jinx chances for the Cup -or- Touch it so you solidify your chances for the Cup? I dunno. To me, it is a question of doing something or not doing something. Touching it or turning away from it? I argued this before with the point that why then do they pass out Conference champs hats and t-shirts? Maybe Kariya didn't take a hat or t-shirt, either...then at least he would be consistent.

    Touch The Trophy!

Philly Billy hates the Devils. It is so obvious (someone from ABC/ESPN should really pull him aside and talk to him about toning it down). His anger/bitterness shown through with the "no class" comment regarding Devils fans booing Giguere. Whatever dude. He deserved to get booed. Both Marty and Mad Dog deserved it more IMHO.

    Touch The Trophy!

Not sure if this subject has been posted or not since the finals are over, but I know it has been discussed here. Maybe Kariya should have touched/grabbed/carried the Campbell trophy. So much for superstitions, huh? Thorne was making all over the fact that Scotty touched and then carried off the Wales trophy in Ottawa. I think that superstition (not touching the conference trophy) is so stupid...I am all for superstitions (have many of my own, especially when it comes to Devils hockey), but ignoring and outright turning your back on a trophy and just leaving there on the table is almost like poor sportsmenship. Any thoughts? R&R Go Devils! 16 down! 0 to go! UNTIL NEXT YEAR!
  12. I think Sens goalie Patrick Lalime was growing out his hair in a "playoff beard/facial hair" way.... Do you think he finally goes to the barber tomorrow morning? "Marty's better!" But in all our excitement folks, lets remember one thing...12 down, 4 to go. That is all that matters...and some magic acts from trainer Bill Murray and his staff... Lets go Devils!
  13. I have E-mailed John (John Buccigross) numerous times about the Queens and the Devils players--specifically Homme and bassist Nick Oliveri and Langs and Stevens...but Friesen was a great choice!
  14. Oh! How sweet was the Josh Homme is to...what Jeff Friesen is to the NJD! Any QOTSA fans on the board?
  15. Huh? What? Canucks in like '82? North Stars in '91(I think)? Panthers in '96? Caps in '98? Sabres in '99? Carolina (granted they ousted the Devils) in '02? Come on.
  16. As a fan living in Chicago, all I have is ESPN for TV coverage...and I don't have ESPNews either! Dammit! And I no longer have Cable DSL for the Internet feed which was great last post-season (minus the results of course) with the sound muted on the TV broadcasts. But, trying to remain unbiased here... COULD ESP-FRICKIN N SHOW MORE OF THE DAMN SENS AFTER THE GAME. I WAS LIKE WHO FRICKIN WON THE GAME HERE...THEY JUST KEPT SHOWING THE SENS LAYING ON THE ICE, MARTIN, VARADA CRYING, LALIME CRYING,MARTIN AGAIN. AND THEY INTERVIEW NIEUWY--TERRIBLE, BUT EASIEST GUY FOR ENGBLOM AND HIS HAIR PIECE TO GRAB I GUESS. AND THEN BURNSIE. COME ON. WHERE IS THE WINNING GOALIE INTERVIEW, THE CAPTAIN, OH HERE IS AN IDEA...FIND THE GUY WHO SCORED THE FRICKIN GAME WINNER! AND THEN THORNE..."STEVENS WOPN'T TOUGH IT," "OK, STEVENS WON'T PICK IT UP." UHHHH! IT WAS JUST AWFUL BROADCASTING, BUT WHAT DO YOU EXPECT...WE GOTTA SEE THOSE IMPORTANT 4TH INNING SCORES IN BASEBALL! SO TYPICAL. OK. I am done. Stepping down from the soapbox. Who is next? Lets go Devils!
  17. Espn also shoved the post game show off the air to put on Baseball tonight..it's May 23rd not August 23rd....and over on ESPN2 Womens College softball..huh? As a fan living in Chicago, all I have is ESPN for TV coverage...and I don't have ESPNews either! Dammit! 18. I likewise humbly add my name as a non-believer. I didn't like our chances when I woke up this morning and I didn't like our chances right after the first puck dropped. I was quite sure of myself after the first goal and after Gomer shanked the open-netter! Nevertheless, I am one very happy Devils fan! Great games from Rheaume (all the centermen really while minus Nieuwy), Stevens, Whitey, Gomer to some extent, and of course Friesen. And Broduer. But I am most happy for Friesen. He coulda been the +/- goat (and unfairly I might add), but he continued to work and Burns rewarded him with some shifts. For all the Devils fans who were whinning at the deadline (I was not, I didn't want Selanne), Uncle Lou sure as hell comes out smelling like a rose tonight...Rheaume, Marshall, and Friesen. Lets all just hope Smelly never sees the ice in a Devils uni again! Having said all that, remember this my fellow followers of the pitch fork and pointy tail, only this matters: 12 down and four more to go! Lets go Devils!

    Selanne

If the Devils would have gotten him, he would have walked away just the same...regardless of the end result. Him and Paul Kariya are really good friends and they want to play together again--it was that or nothing for Selanne. However, Anaheim didn't want to trade for him back in March cuz Selanne would have activated the option for sure and they don't have a Scott Gomez-type player laying around to trade (not that the Devils would have been smart to do so either)--now Anaheim can get him next season for a lot less--next FA season will not be a buyer market with the CBA looming. Having said all that, I doubt he will get $3 mil and I doubt he will help Sykora get to 50, but future highlights of the pair will no doubt bring double the pain and suffering to Devils fans...but then again we are used to that by now (Rolston, Mitchell, Morrison, Sykora, Arnott, AlMo, Holik, etc).
  20. The Holik ones are great--especially as a bitter Devils fan. But the two about your Aunt's playoff beard are the best (saved 'em til the end). Thanks for finding/posting... Go Devils!
  21. Really? Huh. I thought maybe late first. Oh well. Nevermind then. Thanks again for the info... Go Devils! (I love that smiley icon!)
  22. Gotcha. Thanks. I sure hope Uncle Lou and the scouting dept have that kid on their radar...every team sure will after the year that kid had. Announcers (color guy on ESPN) mentioned Jagr with regard to reach and hands? I dunno about all that, but...Devils could sure use a natural goal scorer--not sure how he would/might fit into Devils "team-oriented" system...but I am getting ahead of myself! Thanks again. Go Devils!
  23. And great size for all three men...Martin and DeMarchi are both 6-2 and I think Tallackson is like 6-4 or 6-5 (however, a little thin). I think it is DeMarchi who is a senior, so what is next for him? Camp and then maybe Albany if Hale comes along to NJ next season (if healthy)? And how about that Thomas Vanek kid? Wow! He was awesome...kinda a college basketball reference, but will do here--he (Vanek) looked like a man amongst boys--and he is a freshman! Speaking of, when are college players available for the draft? Can teams draft as early as freshman year athletes? Thanks! Go Devils!
