Spoiled is a good word for it. Remember tho, there was a long stretch at the end where everyone on this board was begging the staff to just play Corey Schneider for 55-60 games and play Marty for 22-27. Goalies ebb and flow and are weird. Look at Markstrom in CGY. Vezina level year and can't get the magic to come back 2 years later. I think Markstrom is further proof that the goalie stats tend to reflect how well the defense in front of them is playing. It's incredibly difficult when goalies are riding the team hot streaks when the team gets hot and then you can find goalies playing very well on bad teams too, but then the goalies cant get their numbers up.

Every team pulls the goalie early, doesn't matter if its Torts, Laviolette, DeBoer, or Cronin. A huge amount of ENG against just means that you are playing from behind too much late in games and aren't coming back. I would argue it's a symptom and not the illness itself. Still more work to be done. At the end of the day, I think we'd all take Thursdays 3rd period over today's 3rd period. Need to play a full 60 and settle into consistent team defense. I think the leaders on this team know that the solutions are within the locker room per the post-game. It really sucks, but it's encouraging. Jack's back and looked great. I'm all for holding up on Zadorov until the deadline. If we take a major long-term injury to a key defenseman like Marino or Hammy, then I would try and pull the trigger and try to get the salary to work sooner, but there's no rush imho. The reason there's no rush is because PIT, PHI, NYI, and us are all a game or two away from being NHL .500. 2 of those teams will rise and 1 or 2 will definitely drop. I don't know if I expect WSH to keep the pace up either. Being NHL .500 is not a caveat, it's bad.

LETS GOOOO DEVILS!!! These guys wanna have our number this year, but the boys know that they gotta show up to these ones. I expect Schmido in net and Jack Hughes to make his triumphant return.

From the looks of that chart, Siegs and Dougie cratered pretty bad tonight and defense was pretty bad, but I thought Dougie made a few good plays here and there. He intercepted a pass and got it up the neutral zone quick and I think it turned into a goal. Felt they had a better game than that. It was truly a good game and I'm hoping the defense just keeps improving from here. I was in section 117 where Devils attack twice and I heard the Holtzy yell. Pally had a great secondary assist on the Holtzy goal. Wins the puck battle and gets it up the boards to Mercer. More of that please. I was so happy for Holtzy. Whole arena heard the Holtzy yell. Bratter was amazing all game.

He hasn't looked awful.

If the Avs can win with Darcy Kemper and Pavel Francouz or Vegas can win with Adin Hill/Broissoit/Thompson, then I am pretty confident with our goalies. I would argue that Schmid could develop into a better goalie than any of those names mentioned above. They just need to be competent. You don't need a Shesterkin or Vasy to win. That being said, we need more from both tendies and they need more from our defenseman. Team effort.

Again I'll give you the fact that he has been dogsh!t without the puck and defensively all season, but that's all you'll get. I'll even concede and say I do think that he needs to better, and should be one of the better possession drivers all game long, but he hasn't. The team hasn't put together a full 60 minutes in quite a few games and has struggled to put a full 60 minutes together since jack went down.

That is simply not true and you don't have any way to prove that unless you are some insider I never hear about. I'll give you the fact that he hasn't been good defensively all season, but that's all you'll get.

If you look at Palat's history, he's rarely scored 20 goals in a season. I don't know what your expectations are. If you have the same expectations of Toffoli that you do of Palat, then you are always going to be disappointed. He had a primary assist on the powerplay tonight. 2 points in 3 games and all I hear about is how bad he is on here. lol He almost had 10 last year and that was with a major surgery. Erik Haula also had an assist and almost potted one when he was out there with Palat and Lazar.

They are already down a good youngster in Quinn. They lost Tuch recently. Neither team has weathered the injury flurry very well. Poor Devon Levi got lit up tonight against BOS. He's on my fantasy team and I almost cried when I saw he was a 8.00 GAA tonight.

Just got done watching the condensed game. Maybe it was what I was seeing in those 9 minutes, but we skated with them after getting outshot pretty bad in the first. Schmid looked great through the 1st and had a big save or two. Top 6 was making plays tonight. Meier and Mercer cashed in. Toffs had a few great chances. In spite of the loss, this was a good effort in a close game imho. Clean up the defensive zone lapses, especially on the PK and this is a 3-2 or 4-2 win for NJ. I thought Palat really shined. Made some plays tonight. PP was great even minus the top 2 centers. Positive to take from that at least. @ 8:06 in the 3rd we were tied in shots and the effort was there. Just got beat late. Once we can keep the puck out of our net we'll start finding our game. I don't know when, but puck luck has to turn around soon for the defense. Bahl struggled again tonight. I don't think most of the D were that great in their own end and got caught again. Hamilton got caught a few times and I think I saw Siegs a few times too. Turnaround's gonna come. Long season.

This would be good. Give them 10 minutes on 3v3 plus that and it'll be fine.

Question for everyone here on the board, If the Devils start the season 2-7-2, is Lindy Ruff still here? I was listening to SDP talk about the new coach in EDM and they showed a picture of the President not looking super happy. Thinking that they kind of knew that Woodcroft wasn't the issue in EDM, but took the blame. I don't think Fitz could pull the trigger if the Devils had EDM's record.

Overused British legal system. They look for fault in every tragedy.

What's weird about the Oilers is that the offense is still there, Draisaitl came out and said they consistently outshoot the other team and still find ways to lose right now. It's a slump that most good teams find ways out of.

Zadorov just asked for a trade after they lost to the Maple Leafs last night. Puts the Flames in a tight spot. I didn't think coming into the season we would need another D but the defense has been so bad with little improvement over the last 5 games. I don't think Zadorov is a perfect solution, he won't solve all these problems, but he will provide a shakeup and he'd be an improvement over Smith/Miller. Bringing in Zadorov would signal to the guys in the top 4 that they need to be better or this guy can probably take their job. He's big and he plays with a physical edge. Not sure who would go the other way and how we can pay him, but we'll see what Fitz is thinking. I think patience may pay off if we just stand pat too. I'm fine with either move.

I'm pretty convinced that Taylor Hall has had the worst injury luck of any player.
