Yikes. fvcking yikes. That last 1:30 of play was ugly as sin. Marino is trying to do too much in the offensive zone and it led to a 2v1 there. I don't know where the fvck he was going. Has Ruff tried to tell him that they don't need him to be Dougie Hamilton? Just play your game. All disjointed and we can't even complete short and simple passes. I thought we were starting better in that first 5, but everything broke down as the period went on. Schmid is just not getting it done. If we see him in the 2nd, it's because Lindy is giving him a long leash here and we almost didn't make it out of the 1st without it being 0-4. He looks like Vanacek did in the playoffs against the Rags right now. How much of it as due to bad luck I'm not sure, but the defense has been no good either.

Yeah, but the only reason Haula was on that line was because Jack couldn't win faceoffs and it was affecting the teams possession play. Jack still can't win faceoffs. I'm not sh!tting on Jack, but with the defensive improvement to his overall game, I'd like to see him take a take a step towards being a better faceoff man.

I'm getting to the point where if Miller doesn't figure out the system soon after coming back from this injury, it might be better to have Nemec up here and getting time with Luke and just grinding it out with those two keeping their minutes under 17:00 a night. Let them go through their growing pains and let them develop into a solid 3rd pairing that (eventually) doesn't allow a lot of goals. It's different for dmen but we did the let them grow thing with a lot of the forwards and a lot of them panned out. I'm thinking the forwards who broke into the league young like Hisch, Bratter, Mercer, and others. Just thinking might be a similar situation with young Luke and Simon Nemec. I'd like to see it given a shot if Smith and Miller are both duds.

LETS GO BOYS We get the current weaker option of their two goalies, but Montambeault will want to bounce back. The difference of how this lineup looks without both Haula and Hischier is actually quite scary. I get that's why you get a bunch of centers who can play wing like Nosek, Mercer, or Tierney, but Nosek also being hurt really shows how quickly your depth at a position can evaporate. Glad it looks like Hischier and Haula will be ready to go.

We thoroughly out shot and out-chanced the Islanders all game long. I'm sitting here just pumped up because we actually showed up for this game. Needed to lean on Jack again to get the W, but we dominated the powerplay. We went 4-5. Hoping Nico is okay. Need Haula to come back and slot in behind Jack on line 2 if he misses significant time.

Same, but flipping the centers might be the best way to get Timo going. I like keeping Timo and Hughes apart too because of how they both tend to be volume shooters and it helps them carry the offense on their respective lines. I do think that it's just to get Meier going.

Not panic no. To keep perspective here guys, EDM is 0-2-0 because their defense hasn't been great, but their goaltending has been god-awful to start. Bright side: Our goalies are actually playing great or at least pretty decent behind of this mess in front of them right now. Vanny kind of had a stinker tonight, but he had a .914 last game nearly +.930, it's still early. Take a quick look at the EDM goalies and weep. Both Skinner and Campbell are sub .800 sv percentage as of this writing. They outshot VAN 40-16 and still lost. You gotta get some saves in those scenarios.

Hard bag practice tomorrow. It will probably fvcking suck, but wake up call needs to come. Basically by virtue of Jack Hughes we were probably running on a bit of luck through games 1 & 2 and are lucky to be 1-1-1, instead of 0-2-1.

Break them up. Meier on the 3rd line with Haula and Holtz until he figures it out. You can't have an anchor on the top lines like this. We can run with, Toffoli-Hughes-Bratt Palat-Hischier-Mercer Meier-Haula-Holtz Lazar-McLeod-NattyBas

Part of the deal I suppose. Everything is there, but they need to put it together. This is just me, but Lindy needs to remind some players that we can't drive the play at the other net if we are always over-passing. The play is driven forward by shots on goal and shot attempts. We need to be out attempting the other team even if they are beating us in SoG.
