  1. This is exactly what I've been saying since Elias' return....We have the personell to have 2 good scoring lines, a checking line that has a good possibility to score and a rought it up line that might pull a goal every so often...Langs is hot right now and Parise has been working hard for a while now...so the lines should break down like this... ---1>Elias - Gomez - Gionta : our best scoring line no discussion needed. ---2>Marshall - Parise - Langs : With Parise working and Langs hot they could create something pretty good if given a chance... ---3>Kozzy - Madden - Pando : Still a great checking line, Kozzy might not be shooting but he isn't making dumb moves...he's good with the puck, with Madden and Pando seemingly always getting a few good scoring chances a game then shooting wide they might be able to get Kozzy to shoot more and get some goals here and there... ---4>Janssen - Rass - Brylin : I know it sucks putting Brylin on the 4th line but he's been cold and too calm to be playing on the second line...at least this way Rass seems to try and put that there with Brylin maybe they can get a goal here and there but overall they have the ability to start some sh!t if need be.... Just my two cents...but what I say isn't going change the line up....I just hope they realize that we have what it takes to win when we have heart (replace heart with Elias if you like) and we have what it takes to score if they can put the pieces together properly!!
  2. it's always a combination of things that Lou had to look at to send him down...he's an old player by the NHL's standards, He has a weak hip...His heart didn't seem to be there...not to mention what went on in the locker room...yeah so he had crappy line mates before he got waived but if he was playing the way Larry or Lou expected him to then he wouldn't have been sent down to begin with...if he had done what he was supposed to do which is replace the scoring void we lost with Elias getting sick then there would be no conversation other than us waiving or trading Kozzy to get Elias in the line up...I mean plain and simple...it doesn't matter what he did because it obviously wasn't enough...I'll admit I was happier than anyone when I heard Almo resigned with us but what's done is done...besides it doesn't look like he will be playing a game with the Devils ever again...it sucks but that's what happens when you make a lot of money and don't do what the people who pay you that money expect you to do! Anyway this thread put a damper on my lovely cartoon I was drawing up I could see it now.... Almo and his agent standing outside the River Rats locker room -Almo: "Is dis da room where I get my money." -Agent: "umm, no this is the River Rats locker room." badum dum....and fade to black anyway its all symantics anyway he's not on the team and Lou said he won't be again so... whatever!
  3. Yes because we also have to keep in mind that this year all players salaries were reduced by what 7% or something? I know it was something because Jagr was upset and might have stayed in Czech simply because the salary reduction coming off the lock out....It's going to be insane to think we can keep most of our players....Don't get me wrong...I'm not trying to start a debate on who we are going to lose or anything all I'm saying is yes if the cap goes up 10 mil and then we only take a minor cap hit then yes its possible everything will work out...what I am trying to point out is Lou's "everything is under control" frame of mind when it looks like he is more out of his mind I'm just hoping Lou realizes who is really an asset to our team and who isn't because we can't afford a bunch of bad decisions like this year...we are lucky Elias came in and revitalized this team the way he did...we now have a shot at the playoffs...but its pushing it to think we have a strong enough team right now to conquer the playoffs...I'm sure we could if we played our "A" game the rest of the year and in the playoffs...but we won't have a chance at all next year if we start losing players without actually improving our team!
  4. Didn't he say the same thing about signing Almo and Malacrap in the offseason? And now he's having to apologize for his mistakes...Me thinks old Lou is going senile! Everyone's going to jump on the "give him a break he has a plan" bandwagon and thats fine, I'll give him a shot but if he can't get us out of this mess (7.2 mil cap hit next season) then we can effectively rule out signing Elias to a long term deal...realize with Almo and MalaCough's contract on the Devils cap we would have had to get rid of players to keep Elias in the line up...so the question is who are we going to have to not sign (Gomez becomes a free agent next season) because we have 7 mil in dead cap weight?? I sure hope he does know what he's doing...
  5. No, I wasn't intending this to be a look at us we are all great now article...I was just saying we thought we had a lot of distraction and have had a bad season...look at the Pens...I mean our offseason signings were based on keeping our team competitive despite what we loss but the Pens signings were based on having the top rookie prospect since Mario himself and then signing like the Rangers anyone who scored over 40 goals at any time in their career. All I meant by it was a lot of people on these boards were having a field day writing tons of posts about who we should trade (even Marty?!?) and how we should give up on our season and start new next year then we get a nice roll going here in the A.E. era (after Elias) and the posts stop...yeah there are a few we need another sniper posts but the other posts have virtually stopped...and what I meant by this article is look at how bad a season we could be having where our coach goes all out and trashes the team like this...I meant no bashing to the Isles or the Pens...
  6. I know everyone is all happy and we have not a care in the world since we're riding a 4 game winning streak but when we were down almost everyone was talking this, and talking that....trade, trade, yada yada yada...anyway...I just read this interesting article about the Pens....at least we can say we could have it worse....Hell, we could be the islanders too.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "It's a pathetic performance," Therrien said of a team that has allowed a league-high 166 goals. "Half of the team doesn't care. ... They're doing the best job to be the worst defensive squad in the league. They turn the puck over, they have no vision. The guys don't care. They pretend to care, but I know they don't care. Therrien repeated a vulgarity several times to describe his defensemen, including $25 million free agent Sergei Gonchar, who has been a huge disappointment. Still, only two Penguins defensemen were minus for the night -- Ryan Whitney and Dick Tarnstrom were a minus-1 -- and the other four were even. That didn't appease Therrien, who has a reputation for being tough and demanding but so far has been mostly upbeat about a mostly young Penguins team that is tied with the Capitals for the fewest points (31) in the Eastern Conference. "We should take 50 percent of their salaries because they play only 50 percent of the time," Therrien said. Even super rookie Sidney Crosby didn't look like he was into the game, getting only two shots, both in the first period. He had eight goals and nine assists during a 10-game scoring streak. "Horcoff had three great chances and he converted all of them," said Crosby, who preferred to talk about the game's scoring star rather than his own play. "He got it right tonight." At least to Therrien, the Penguins got it all wrong. "What's the solution?" Therrien said. "I'm going to find the solution." LINK ----------------------------------------------------------------------- At least Robinson just resigned and called it a day...Remember when it was a big deal when he said the team was "strange" hehe...and THAT got everyone's feathers in a ruffle
  7. Here ya go...I found this... Marty Goal and this... Marty game winner I forget what year the second was but it was a penalty called on the Flyers...Marty was the last to touch it then they ended up putting it in their own net...Marty got the credit for the goal....not many people realize this part...it ended up being the game winner in like a 4-2 Devils win OH yeah, right click (save as..) I'm sure you know the drill....
  8. Or you could have all got in, filmed it, and been able to afford and 8 bedroom house with 4 bathrooms I'm with you Crash...its all in how they ask...hehe
  9. Hehe...are you kidding...I am well behaved My fiance has it good...I do the cooking (even when friends and family are over...she will admit I'm the better cook) and the cleaning (even after I cook...tell me you wouldn't want a man like this )...I got the raw end of the deal....hmmm...come to think of it I do get yeah so I say we're even

    LOU & CO. FLYIN'

The only problem I see with this quote is that they didn't win the game for us...they held Filthydelphia scoreless don't get me wrong (Marty helped of course) And yes they all played amazingly...but we had three goals...one would have won the game for us. The only thing I'm saying is Jamie has hot hands...put him on a line that might be able to produce some offense...just as the above posts are saying Kozzy isn't hurting us out there...well, he's not producing either...we could at least stick him on the Madden line and it still probably would be a solid checking line...then we move Langs up to Parise's line and we could get something going...I'm not down playing the Madden line but Madden and Pando are the real keys behind that line...Langs makes some great defensive plays as well but with the team working as smoothly as it is we are eventually going to need more offense before we need better defense, we've got all of our D men really kicking it up and as I said Madden and Pando are the keys to that checking line...we could really try to put Kozzy on that line and give him a shot to do something really helpful as opposed to not hurting us....That is if Lou isn't planning on moving him....but who are we going to get in turn for a 6'5" 235lbs of lump that won't score?? a 30+ goal scorer with great hands and smooth skills?? unlikely...just saying we should try it....but that's beside the point... Don't be fooled by how miraculous the Madden line is playing...they shut down the Flyers no doubt about it but our first goal won the game for us...and if someone is shutting down the Elias line and we can't score then it won't matter how great the Madden line is playing we could be the ones losing 1-0.
  11. How is it this is exactly how I imagined Don after reading most of his posts! Am I the only one?? Anyway, I'm a guy and surprisingly I have the same problem...It's not me though, I'm actually somewhat of a neat freak...not really but I can relax a lot more in a clean house than a dirty one but anyway yeah my fiance has the problem of whenever I ask for anything to get cleaned she'll say ok then "forget" to do it...I've tried to let it go sometimes and just keep telling her to do it...most of the time she will but there have been times I just said screw it and did it myself....of course that is before I tell her I'm going to pee in her shoes one day (that's kinda an inside joke but you get the jist...seems fair to me...pick up after yourself or I'll pee in your shoes )

    LOU & CO. FLYIN'

yeah i know...talk about dead wieght anyway as much as the game was a "thrashing" last night and I'll admit we played well as a team. We still have to get something going with another scoring line...Lou needs to shuffle up the other three lines and try to get something going. The Elias line had a hand in every goal last night. Don't get me wrong others are stepping up, but we need something consistent. As much as people don't want to we should try putting Langs on a line with Parise...he's got hot hands, three goals in three games! get something going...switch Parise back to center and put Marshall on the line with them or something...maybe put Kozzy on the Madden line and have Brylin, Rass, and Janssen as the 4th line...Lou should try to improve and not be complacent just because we are getting on a roll.
  13. Ask and ye shall receive....Actually I just went ahead and made a wallpaper because the actual hi res version I make is roughly 4000 pixels by 3000 pixels or like 14 inches by 12 inches...it takes up almost 3 megs so let me know if you like this...if there is anything in particular you want done to it just let me know!! Ice Bats Wallpaper
  14. Well, this topic has been everywhere Thanks for the hijack Anyway since it was at one point about one liners from Full House, I was making avatars and decided to throw this together...let me know what you think RD
  15. Hey, thanks...I'm glad you liked it...I have it in High quality (I do all of these things in really high resolution and large size so I could actually screen these for t-shirts and stuff...part of my marketing scheme ) anyway I took the liberty of making an avatar you are more than free to use if you like it....let me know what you think! hmmm...Pam anderson I could get very creative with that one
  16. Just thought I'd go ahead and start a thread for those who wanted to request for me to do a "Bruiser Buddy" for a team other than NHL or NFL...anytime I get a break or don't feel like doing the NHL or NFL ones I'll go ahead and fulfill a request...Last night someone urged me to make a wrestling buddy which I did and then SammyK asked for an Austin Icebats...so here he is Sammy...I give you Lil Icebat... anyway if there are other requests let me know...I'm not saying they are going to be fulfilled right away but like I said when i get stumped on the NHL or NFL ones I'll take a break and do a request...but anyway...Let me know what you think of the Icebat also!!
  17. Yeah, actually I got the idea of the muscles when I was thinking of how to do the Flyers cuz they are a bunch of goons...and the actual circle part is so routine it takes like 5 minutes...after that I just found a pic I had laying around on my comp of Angle (from a sig I created for Crasher) and then kinda got going on it...the tights were a bit hard to do...i went through three or four variations...the belt wasn't too hard and that came to me at the last second to give it something a little extra (even though he's not the champ at the moment)....all in all not my best but I just wanted to throw it out there...probably would have added more detail to the belt and medals...if I took my time with it.
  18. See what happens when you urge my creative nature But don't worry...since I got this going....the Austin Icebats are next on my list...I'll probably get a chance to work on it tomorrow night!
  19. Well, this is for anyone in particular who likes the WWE, I'm just surprised Crasher didn't post it given his lust for the squared circle and grown men grappling each other kidding....anyway, I noticed this on another board and found it interesting that The Game knocked up Vince's little girl... Triple H and Stephanie expecting...
  20. I mean I know he was having a bad season but what the hell happened with Sykora...I don't mean his numbers, the trade or anything other than this.. Looks like the Niedersisters were doing his hair at a sleep over or something... kinda reminds me of the episode of full house were Stephanie accidentally cuts Jesse's hair
  21. I had the displeasure of seeing "The Talented Mr. Ripley" My fiance and I thought, hmm Matt Damon as a psycho killer and Jude Law as the rich kid he goes to find....holy f*$^!! That was the biggest piece o crap I have ever seen...it ended 1 hour a 45 minutes after it should have
  22. I disagree...not only the way he's handled himself on the ice and leading by example just like Doc and Chico were discussing during last nights game but also by the way he's been talking to the media with such quotes as ("We know we have a better team than what we've been showing. We need to turn it around a little bit and build up our confidence," Elias said before the game.) As I posted in another thread, you'd think he's been playing all year with the way he talks...that is leadership...coming back from something the way he did and playing like he's playing (2 goals, 4 assists, and a +5 in three games) that's leadership...he's earned it by simply stepping up and being a leader...something no one else on this team has done all season.... but I do agree with having Stevens hand it to him at the retirement ceremony but I doubt that happening for 2 reasons: -1.) The Devils organization is not that smart to actually do something cool like that...unless they are using ideas on this thread it won't happen... -2.) It would also take a bit away from Stevens...I mean fans and the media alike have been wondering about the captaincy...making it a display like that would take away from the actual Stevens ceremony... Although, like I said, that would be really awesome and would love to see it!! but only since they haven't given it to him already..
  23. They've done things well the past 3 games and that's what matters most...last night we didn't have to rely on the EGG line but of course they popped in with a goal as well. Hopefully it's the start of something we've all missed this season...but I think Monday will be our biggest test, not just because Filthy-delphia is up there in the East but because of our rivalry...it'll let other teams know we mean business if we can pull out a win! I'm going to keep harping on this but Elias has not been playing up until the last three games and yet by his quotes you would think he's been playing all year...if this combine with his actions on the ice doesn't show his leadership enough to get the "C" I don't know what is....I'm almost completely convinced not giving him the "C" is has to do with contract negotiations and not his play. Lou better not f* this up and sign him to a multi-year deal!!
  24. I haven't really noticed that but I do remember he used to always just lift his helmet up on the top of his head but now he takes it off....I wonder if that is part of the new thing too??
  25. Damn skippy optimism ....come on there hasn't been one thing in watching a Devils game where you did something out of the ordinary then they won or lost and you vowed to do it more or never do it again (depending on the win or loss) ?? Even if you didn't carry through with it...I'm sure it's something that's crossed everyone's mind...look at all the superstitions that run through the NHL....Marty puts on his equipment from left to right on game day...I think it was Madden or Pando who only eats a certain sandwich that day...Stevens taped his stick and exact amount each game night...so many they've turned from superstition to tradition..much like the playoff beard
