insanity_gallops
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=169938&hubname=nhl The Boston Bruins have apparently already found recently fired Mike Sullivan's successor, as the Bruins are reportedly going to name Dave Lewis their new head coach. According to the Boston Globe, Lewis, former head coach of the Detroit Red Wings, could be officially named Boston's new head coach as early as Wednesday. Citing a source with knowledge of Boston's front office negotiations, the paper said that the Bruins came to terms with a new head coach Tuesday, while a separate source cited Lewis by name. Sullivan was fired Tuesday. In his first season guiding the team in 2003-04, Sullivan led the club to the Northeast Division title and the second-best record in the Eastern Conference with a 41-19-15-7 record. But, the team faltered in the first round of the playoffs, losing to the division-rival Montreal Canadiens in seven games. The Bruins fell even further this past season, finishing 13th in the Eastern Conference with a 29-37-16 record and missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2000-01 season. Also, this past season saw the team trade star forwards Joe Thornton and Sergei Samsonov to San Jose and Edmonton, respectively, and the firing of general manager Mike O'Connell on March 25. Peter Chiarelli, who had been an assistant general manager in Ottawa, will take over general manager duties on July 15. Jeff Gorton has been serving as general manager since the firing of O'Connell, and represented Boston during the NHL Draft in Vancouver on June 24. Motorcity Devil
Poor Bruins... Their woes are only just beginning. Lewis is a disaster as a head coach. Assistant coach - yes, head coach - no. People here in Detroit were glad to see him move on.
bostondevil11
Lewis is exactly what the Bruins were looking for. Someone who has a good regular season but just can't get it done in the playoffs. Build up fan intrest to make them spend their money but not enough to win. That's called Bruins* *for those without NESN that was the Bruins tag line last season. bruins4777
i like this. I just want to GET to the playoffs. We'll work from there. He's a good players coach and it wasn't his fault that derian hatcher single handidly lost the flames series for the wings.
