  1. Wow, 2 out of 3 responses that are more concerned with my grammatical shortcomings than my hockey opinions. My humble apologies. I'm still not quite sure though what ..."Wall of text crits forums for L337 damage. Forums are no more.".... means, but life is for learning.
  2. It is no secret that Lamoriello looks for individuals who will
  3. It looks like no one told the Carolina Hurricanes they were playing against the great MB30. I'm sure if they knew he was the greatest goalie in the history of the game they would have never been able to score a single goal. Maybe Brodeur was admiring his reflection and lovely new helmet in the rink-side glass when he let in the two amateur goals. Talk about team choke? I hope someone in the Devil's locker room knows the Heimlich maneuver. Simply put...........PATHETIC LOSERS !
  4. I know I'm stating the obvious but, The NY Rangers, Avery and Tortorella all deserve each other. Perfect irony. The angry out of control coach tells one of his angry, out of control players to control himself. Who says Bettman doesn't have a sense of humor?
  5. I think Rolston would be a perfect left winger for the
  6. I agree about the team possibly having to work around the way Brodeur wants to play. For example....how many times does Brodeur successfully clear the puck up the left boards when he comes out and plays it behind the net? It seems to me that the opposition has learned they can almost dump it to him on purpose and wait to intercept the pass halfway up the boards. It happens a lot. His pass up the middle the other night to Zubrus that got picked off and resulted in a scoring chance. During the ensuing time out Chico speculated that Brodeur was telling Zubrus how to handle that pass the next time....I suggest the goalie follows the pee wee hockey truism not to throw the puck up the middle of the ice. All these little quirks can get in the other player's way at times. I know, Brodeur is the greatest and the best at handling the puck, that's fine. Just do it with a purpose when it will aid the flow of the game and not just because you can or want to.
  7. Even though NJ had 2 bad periods last night, we were able to score 3 to tie and prevent Carolina from scoring. The Devils can do it with the personnel they have available. The maddening and frustrating question for a fan is why can
  8. Years ago I attended the final Calder Cup game in Fredericton, NB, Canada where the Albany River Rats won the series. During the game we cheered for our team and the home town cheered for their team. No one threw beer on me or assaulted me in the men
  9. No I'm not just humoring you. Only time will tell how Brodeur will respond to recent developments. I do think that since Brodeur is the only goalie the Devils have had in years he has not necessarily had to deal with personal accountability regarding his own performance. In essence, he set his own bar and there was no one else for him to be compared to. The injury changed that. We saw what life could be like without Brodeur in net and it wasn't a disaster. So if there was a carefree attitude at times on his part (and I'm not saying there was) everyone accepted it because there was no other standard with which we could compare. Now, some people may be less willing to accept a bad game, or bad goals. For the first time he may have to at least consider that he has some in house competition. I think physically and skills-wise, Brodeur is as sharp as he can be. But if doubt starts creeping into his game and his confidence starts getting shaky for the first time in his career, he has something new to work through.
  10. Interesting comments Pepperkorn. However, I'm not sure that I agree about things not getting more traumatic. I think the disconnect will get worse for Brodeur if we lose this first round 4-1 like we did the last playoff round with Carolina. I also think that NJ's record without him will start to sink in during the off season. Maybe being a "what will be will be kind of guy" is what has helped Brodeur shake off bad games by living in the moment. But now, the taoist moosh is not going to serve him by helping to shake off recent events and getting ready for the playoffs (and middle age). It's especially disconcerting to have him publicly discuss the things that he doesn't like opposing players to do to him. Let's hope the Devils have a great first game and Marty plays like a hall of fame goalie, that will set the tone for the rest of the series and let the NHL know that Brodeur is back.
  11. "Seriously dude...why all the hate?" Good question. Why don't you ask the person who used the F word in his post? His last post was full of hate. I never called anyone a douche. I thought my post would provoke some intelligent discussion on why the Devils went into their slump immediately after Martin Brodeur set the new NHL record. I was mistaken. Obviously my opinions were a bit too clinical, I accept that. Fans invest emotionally in their favorite teams and players. They don't want to hear bad things said about their team. I am a Devils fan and I am a Brodeur fan. I said before, I hope he and the team right the ship and have a fantastic playoff run. I apologize to all if I offended anyone.....Go Devils.
  12. OK, he was injured. We know that, you're stating the obvious. You say his injury caught up with him. So does that mean he was/is playing injured through all the losses and the coaching and medical staff didn't rest him? If he was playing hurt why didn'y he say so? Doesn't sound like a responsible way to handle a player's injury. You have fond memories of his performance from 1995, 2000 and 2003, nice, so do I. What does that have to do with his performance 14 years later? Professional sports is a business. Sometimes it's ruthless. Son of slapshot wasn't real impressed with MB30's goalie duels with Eddie when he buried the puck the other night. Teams don't win games on nostalgia.
  13. I knew the opinions expressed in my post would not be well received. However, contrary to what some may think, I am not a troll, or a competing goalie. I have been a Devils fan for years and have enjoyed all the great moments the team and Martin Brodeur have brought us. I was sick watching the game in which he was injured and anxiously awaited his return. I was overjoyed at his ability to come back and tear up 8 wins, two shutouts and of course the new NHL record. But then it all came crashing down. Why? If his injury was the cause it seemed to me he would have struggled earlier so I looked elsewhere for the cause. I felt the lapse might be attributed to loss of focus, mental attitude. I did not say Brodeur intentionally gave up on the team. He is probably experiencing the most frustration at what happened. It seemed to me it was only natural that after the MB30 buildup and focusing so much mental energy on a goal for so long, once the goal is achieved their has to be a letdown period. The record hangover effect. I also feel it is the coach
