I suppose it depends on whether or not the RFA rules would remain or not. I can't remember if those existed pre-cap. If those stay in place then removing the cap would be far less risky. I certainly don't want a bs league like the NBA where players dictate where they play though .

Players salaries have risen exponentially, so we would go in a cycle of developing young talent and then see them scooped up by the Rangers etc coming out of the entry deals. Unless I'm mistaken about how deep the current NJ owners can spend? When you look back at our 90s rosters, we had like two guys making $5 mill plus. These days that buys you a checking centre if you are lucky

It does raise a good question though, who truly is the best goalie? I would argue that vasilevsky is a mediocre goalie on a stacked team. I honestly can't point anywhere in the league at truly great number one atm.

Those numbers are bullsh!t. It should be impossible to have worse odds of staying in your current slot than others.
