  1. Hes very raw, but I like some of his intangibles. Could be a Colin White kind of player in time.
  2. In fairness, they kinda of HAD to yesterday. It remains to be seen going forward if its going to be the norm. Lou was pretty clear with their roles. Neither are head coach. Lou is probably there to be the mouthpiece so he can frame everything himself.
  3. Yeah, I tend to agree with this too. If we assume its McDavid - Eichel 1 and 2, our chance is better of getting McDavid by winning the lottery than securing the #2.
  4. To get McDavid or Eichel all we have to do is get into the lottery, which we almost certainly will be. The lower we finish, the higher our chances. The new format this coming draft is closer the NBA in that the probability is weighted depending on where you finish. I.E. if we were the 7th worst team we'd have a 6.5% chance of winning the 1st pick. The worst team only has a 20% chance. It's a crapshoot no matter where we finish. Right now, we're tied with Buffalo for 4th worst which is a 9.5% chance of getting the first pick. And no, I don't believe in tanking so this is not what I want, but it is a consolation prize. We won the lottery the year we took Larsson, but because of the rules of the lottery we were slotted into 4th because that was the highest we could move up. Its changed now. Lottery winner gets first pick. If we stay on the path we're on now, we will have a shot. Those saying its not going to happen are not looking at the big picture. However, the crappiest team is still guaranteed at least the 2nd pick this coming draft. If this was 2016, then the lottery would determine the first 3 picks. I won't say its likely we're getting either of these guys at all, but all we have to be is in it to win it.
  5. yea he doesnt deserve his own thread tho lol
  6. Per TG: Michael Ryder has the mumps.
  7. HELL IN A CELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. TG: Lamoreillo said he doesn't have a set time period for how long he will be going behind the bench. He also said "No promises" on next head coach whatever that means. Basically, no one knows lol.
  9. Lou is also going to be behind the bench for an "indefinite period of time".
  10. @TGfireandice Word is Scott Stevens is at Pru Center this morning. Don't know what tthat means.
  11. Team scheduled to skate at the same time.
  12. I think this may be happening. Lots of chatter and other places picking up on it, but most are only citing Chere's article thus far. http://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/666763

    KHL Collapse?

Really good article on this here

    Any Truth?

I dont disagree with you about the KHL. But Kovy would be a distraction for about a week or two when he first got back. Then he'd be a New Jersey Devil again and no one would give a sh!t. He wouldn't be going to the Leafs, Habs, or Rags. Kovy was hardly a distraction when he was here the last time around and any perceived distractions (i.e. the Captaincy) were manufactured by this fanbase. I also don't think those that are butthurt over his leaving still are looking at the full picture. I personally don't think he "left us". I think the KHL came to him (or had an offer on the table the whole time) with an offer that he was intrigued by and the Devils didn't argue with him about it. The timing of it (we were sold to Harris shortly thereafter) etc is all too coincidental and Kovy saved the team in some respects as we got out from under that atrocious and entirely too long contract. Its not a stretch to think that contract was causing conflicts in sale negotiations. Since the NHL don't allow restructuring, this was the only way out. I would also be fine with Kovy returning if the contract was palatable. That would be the key, not too long (3-4) not too pricy (5-6). I agree with other posters in wanting to get younger etc. but we still need good players on the ice to compete and be somewhat effective. I'm never for tanking and look at a high draft pick as a consolation prize for sucking. Bringing on Kovalchuk within the next year is an automatic upgrade over the majority of our forwards and allows more dead weight to be jettisoned.

    Any Truth?

No. He's been out a full year + now. He only needed all unanimous yes' if he tried to come back within a year of his "retirement". Until 2018, the Devils have the only yes/no say in the situation. In 2018, he can come back without any approval.
  19. According to Chere @Ledger_NJDevils Cammalleri pulled a muscle in his butt
  20. Goddamn. The least of the problems on this team is goaltending. Cory more often than not has been the one that has kept us in the game and given us the chances to win. There is literally one forward on this team capable of being a first line player in this league right now. Cammalleri. That's it. Henrique and Zajac are borderline at best. Jagr's best served in a 2nd line role. Patty has become Rolston in that age has caught up to him somewhat suddenly. The rest of them are 3rd liners at best and more then a few of them aren't even cut out for 3rd line duty. Its just not a very good group up front. The defense has been a SIEVE. Gone are the days where the Devils got by playing terrific defense and winning battles etc. Not even stalwart Andy Greene has been very good. Some guys have had moments, but there is no consistency anywhere on this team at all.
