Gold Medal Game Thread

Score Czechs. Rucinsky. Personally, it sounds like they lulled them to sleep. Did not sound like it was a great shot. Maybe Brodeur just lost concentration.

I wouldn't count Canada out. They will pick it up.

Vokoun stops Maltby on a shorthanded chance. Didn't sound like a great shot though since Spacek "manhandled him" according to the Canadian color guy.

Huge power play coming up for Canada drawn by Thornton-Gagne-Nash.

So much for that. 11 seconds later, they whistle Thornton off for high sticking. They can't do anything right today.

The commentator now says conditioning was an issue if Canada loses. Eh. I mean I am sure it was an issue not just for Team Canada.

Sweden was gased today and Russia beat them easy.

Canada argued for a PP but they can't catch a break. Sounds like it should have been.

3 minutes left.

PP now for Canada. Under two and a half left. Drawn by their best forward this tournament. Rick Nash.

Wonder if they'll pull Brodeur for the extra attacker.

Score. Empty net goal for the Czechs. And the Czech fans are going crazy. There sure are a lot of them.

Who got it? Jozef Vasicek.

From the sounds of it, it just sounded like Canada had a lot taken out of them from yesterday's Russian game. They could have made it easier on themselves had they not relaxed up 4 goals. Oh well.

Congrats to the Czechs. They earned it.

Well, could they just drop the puck already? Still sorting out penalties.

Jagr btw did notch two assists and according to what they said earlier, he played well. They praised Varada too.

And that's it. The Czechs have won the 2005 Gold medal at the World Championships in Austria. Congratulations to the Czechs.
