njdss4
Clicky Two minutes for Avery-ing? C'mon. I thought that was thread worthy. Discuss.
adamcsu
This was recently posted in the "NHL REACTS TO THE AVERY PLAY SWIFTLY" thread, but yeah, simply great

pattyelias
Gormley comes off like a moron because the league did not write a new rule regarding Avery's conduct, but merely stated his method of screening Brodeur fits in with the existing rule for unsportsmanlike conduct. If and when it happens again, the league should call it as such.

The rule wasn't amended though. There wasn't a single word added to the rule. It was merely a clarification that bush league plays qualify as unsportsmanlike conduct. jkrdevil
I'd like to think that it was an "amendment" to the unsportsmanlike conduct rule. That's as good as a new rule to me. But it's not an amendment it's a clarification so everyone knows what the unsportsmanlike rule was. The ref during the game after it happened went over to both benches and gave a warning that if it continued it would be called. So thus it can't be an amendment nor a new rule if the referee previously warned each team about it being called.
