    Elias

I think he played much better later. It does seem to take him a bit to get in the game. In last night's case, I think it was putting him at center. He's really not the most aesthetically pleasing looking center in the way he goes about it, but he sure works hard there. Unfortunately as good as Berglund was Saturday, that's how much he struggled last night. And Gionta couldn't finish off a couple of excellent passes. And then there was one gorgeous pass that no one even thought about getting to. Elias didn't shoot as much as he did Saturday, but overall I think he had a better game. A little feistier, maybe that was Burns' quotes.
  2. Actually I thought the Devils played a GREAT second period. It was pretty disheartening to have them get nothing for it. And then to have all that Hoover-ed away by the short-handed goal, well that ripped my heart out. Jamie done real good.

Just wanted to add, it was a nice night for the hard-working fourth line. They seemed to be doing what they could. Some real nice cycling.
  4. Yes, he has, he had two goals for the Habs in a game a couple of weeks ago. Boy Friesen really earned his assist. That was a nifty move. And as I've said everywhere else possible, that Langenbrunner is so very awesome. You SHOULD get rewarded when you're the best player on the ice.

We're pretty relaxed. We just explained why we got confused. People have been so quick to fly off the handle of late. I don't think anyone did here. In fact there was a conscious effort not to.

Yep, me too. But no prob, we get it now.

There probably shoulda been more. I thought you were quoting someone although it didn't sound like something insanity would particularly say. I don't think it was particularly clear. Just say PEOPLE MIGHT SAY THIS, BUT IT'S BUNK or something...

I don't understand why you think that no one knows this. We're enjoying the win. The HOUR after it happens. We had the game lost. Obviously we know how close we came. We're enjoying a victory we couldn't have gotten back last year AND celebrating the guy who did it. That's all.
  9. Me too. Although I remember it DISTINCTLY being more easy with the second assist and second star.
  10. I agree with this. It's not that I don't miss and still like guys who are gone. And I'll have faith in Lou in that other thing cause I ALWAYS have faith in Lou.
  11. Oh, sorry. I was touched by the Saku thing that it automatically came to mind.
  12. Actually, and this is weird. I thought he looked pretty good and resolved after he started playing center for Gionta and Berglund. He was playing that kind of kamikaze center that he started doing when he was put into this position before. Berglund really struggled unfortunately. He just had a rough game. I really woulda liked to have seen him have a good one, but it just wasn't there. Langenbrunner was obviously the best guy on the ice. Even when we were down, he was still giving it all on every single shift. He deserves all the accolades and all three stars.
  13. Nope, I know there was at least ONE other time it happened. Saku Koivu. Fan Appreciation Day last year. Very classy fans cheering him for two assists and getting second star of game.

Methinks we like Jamie in N.J. too!!!!! Triumph, I think a great deal of the board is at the game. Lucky things.

We had that game lost. Jamie played hard the whole game, the way he has been for a while. He REALLY works for everything and anything out there. No wonder he works well with Madden, because he's someone Johnny can respect.

    Sykora

Babcock did put him out there with the first line for that purpose. Very cool indeed. Right before the anthem, there was a screeching male voice that went "Sykoraaaaaaaa." That was interesting.

He was by FAR the best Devil on the ice. Deserved everything he got. Jamie is God!!!!!!

    Sykora

I was JUST saying the same thing, MD.
  19. I didn't either, maddog. That's just what was taken from the articles that were written. And if you know the guy and what he's about, you know he knows it's a business. I mean I do believe he was closer to Brendan Morrison on a personal level than he was to Syk, and I never heard boo about that. (Of course that was before I had a computer too, so I probably wouldn't have.)
  20. The Friesen-Berglund thing is about the same as the Gomez-Nieuwy thing. It's not that they're not trying hard. It's just the style of play, the type of player they are by nature. Gomez's nature is laidback; Nieuwy's is straightforward. And the same with the other two. When you use the words, it comes out "slacker" and "non-slacker"-like, but that's not what I think or mean at all.
  21. Hey don't stop reading the idiot though. That's how I get my paycheck and I'd like to keep getting it. So let's keep on reading it and calling the guy and idiot.
  22. Well it seems very evident when I watch. I see it more of a reason than an excuse, but it would be nice to see more goals there. Everyone just isn't gonna score with everyone. That's why lines develop and why some star players never play with other star players on the same team. Well that and not putting all their eggs in one basket.
  23. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. Do people think Nieuwy is slumping cause he's not working hard? Cause I think he's working hard, just not making it work. I want to promote some offense with some talented pieces we have and not sit back and wait for help to arrive. Look what the Bruins are doing with less. I expect more from our pieces. The fourth line can deal with one person sitting... esp. if it keeps them at the high level of play all year. Many teams sit an enforcer when not playing teams they don't need an enforcer against. I particularly would like to protect Turner.
  24. Nah, that line's fine without him. Maddenbrunner FOREVER!!!!!!!

    Lines For Tonight

I think what makes me lean one way over the other is what the second line is without Elias. Nieuwy and the Mitey Mites just won't get it done, no matter how hard they all work. I do like Gomez with Elias, but I think he's better suited to Nieuwy in style and because of temperament.
