  1. Just wondering, are there any restrictions on how fat a goalie can be. Can a Sumo wrestler be allowed too be a goaltender?
  2. Burns don't wan't to admit it, but I think this is a sign of panic. Why take out two veteran defensemen after losing only one game?
  3. Word out of Ottawa is that tonight's game is going to be VERY physical in an attempt to wear out the older Devil's defense corps.
  4. Nieuwendyk broke out long long long time ago, now he is just breaking down
  5. westcoastdevfan It is not arrogance it's just confidence in the team and the players after following their games all year long. I bet you have the same confidence in the devils but I would not characterise that as arrogance. Just as you believe the devils are going to win tonight, I believe the SENS are going to win. When you talk of Stevens taking someone out of the lineup tonight, I also think it could happen to a devil too, because we have guys who can play dirty too. Stevens can decide to take maybe Chara or Hossa out and the next thing you know, Brodeur is out. This is hockey, things happen no one has the advantage.
  6. Sitting these two guys is a mistake, You always have to give guys a chance to redeem themselves after a bad game. I don't think the change is going to make any big difference at all. The two guys will even be worse because they don't have a lot of experience. You have to watch the game to see it for yourself.
  7. What goes around comes around. Maybe it's madden or Langenbrunner tonight. Stevens is getting old, I couldn't believe even Havlat was taking a run at him. He is one of the guys targeted by Ottawa for hits all night long, so don't start the celebrations yet.
  8. We know you are woried, we know you are panicking, we know you are afraid of us, C'mon just admit it! LOL We will win the cup even if means going through HELL
  9. The SENS are not going anywhere - the guy who is going to buy the team has promised the league to keep the team in Ottawa - He is a billionare though, so, I think we won't have to borrow any money to run the team in the future, that's what got us into a lot of debts. The new guy coming in is promising to do whatever to make the team a dynasty, which is good news for the fans
  10. Zamode: heres the right link http://www.waymoresports.com/NASApp/cs/Con...eafs/MapleLeafs
  11. Zamode: We've studied the Devils system to the details, just read this article to find out what I meant by stealing the devils Trap system http://www.waymoresports.com/NASApp/cs/Con...eafs/MapleLeafs
  12. hey Zamode: Didn't Al Gore use to be a senator?
  13. Phillyreaper There is nothing that you said about the devils, that is not true for ottawa, we have puck moving defenceman, we have a disciplined team, sometimes we play the trap too - in fact we stole it from the devils. I think you are just bitter after the loss - just take a deep breath - it's only a game.
  14. NewarkDevil5 I am not prepared to call this one either untill I see the first game, because the two teams are evenly matched, everything is the same except that you guys have a better goalie. The key to winning this series will be offense, because both teams protect the lead very well. Even though I think we may have a slight edge in offense, the devils have the edge in goal. I don't know how physical the devils are but, the SENS can be very physical if they have to. This is a whole different team, therefore I can't say how they'll match up against the devils, but it is definitly better than any other Ottawa team you ever played against - this is the best we've ever had.
  15. At this point I would say the top two guys for the devils are Madden and Langenbrunner. I am not discounting Friessen, Gomez, Elias, Nieuwendyk, or brylin. what I mean is; guys who can score a goal every game if you are not careful. I don't mean guys who can chip in here and there once in a while. In terms of match up, its hard to tell at this point because other than Madden and Langenbrunner, I don't see anyone else who is very hot right now. Besides, I think the flyers team was a very deep team up front - deeper than the devils. Just think of it: Primeau, Amonte, Roenick, Rechi, Gagne, Kapanen, LecLair, Handzus, Lapointe - That is real depth, if any team can stop that, then I think you have to give credit to their defense. In my opinion, Detroit seems to be the only team deeper up front than the Flyers. But its all on paper of course
  16. SENS forwards don't play on any particular lines, Besides Fisher is a center, so he can play on any line, Smolinski also plays any position up front. The only consistent line mates so far has been Tod White and Alfredsson. Your top two guys are going to see a lot of Chara and Redden - the SENS defence is probably one of the most deepest defence in the league
  17. MaddDog That stuff about Landfill and Mobsters is B.S. that's why I never mentioned them. but it is a fact that new jersey plays defensive - whether its trap or whatever you want to call it - it's personal opinion. The issue with brodeur is also true because he admitted it. What madded said about Jersey fans and the senators organization etc. is also true because it was on air, on record. I don't agree with painting everyone with a big brush. However, you have to agree that all those three things that I mentioned seems to be true. Some people like defensive hockey, and some people don't, it is a fact. To me it doesn't matter as long as my team wins, I don't mind how they do it.
  18. westcoastdevfan - this Dynako character is a new Devil - invisible guy (the seventh man) Anyways, it's a spelling error on my Part. For insanity_gallops I watched some of the devils bruins matchups. I know madden and Lang have been on a tear, Friessen is playing well, Other than those guys I didn't see anyone else who exceeded expectations. In fact I have been a little bit dissapointed with the way stevens have played ever since he delivered that massive body check on Lindros. He hasn't hit anybody else like that again. You may see that kind of hit though from Anton Volchenkov - I have a feeling Gomez or Brylin is going to get caught because of the way they like to criss-cross through the neutral zone with the puck.
  19. It's not easy to say who is going to win this series untill the puck is dropped. In my Opinion, there are two factors; Martin Brodeur and Devils Defense. If Brodeur plays unbeliavable, i.e allowing only one or two goals a night then maybe u guys have a great chance. Ottawa is good playing with the lead, if your guys can't score, then there is a problem. Defense, depends on how you match up, but either way its going to be difficult because each of the three top lines for ottawa has a pair of 20+ goal scorers. - the devils defence has to be at their best. I am totally convinced the devils will shut down Hossa. But how will they shut down Smolinski, Havlat, Alfredsson, White, Fisher, and Bonk - Stevens and madden can't do it by themselves - the Best Devil players tend to play on one line - our guys don't have lines they play on any line. Sometimes Hossa plays on the fourth line with Van Hallen, Sometimes on the second line with Bonk. If you intend to match up dynako against Havlat, then just forget it, he's too fast - maybe neidermeyer or Stevens can stop him - Collin White - I don't know how good he is but against smolinski - I think its a mismatch. Apart from the SENS, New Jersey is my second favorite team but lets face it. This years devils, is not the best they've ever put on ice - it is good but not as good - Most of the players have become older banged up and slower. Younger guys like Elias, Gomez seems to have stopped producing - Neuwndyke - I don't know what his problem is. Madden is having a great Playoffs but I don't know how long he can keep this thing going. Anyways, good luck. Who ever wins this thing deserves to win, because I think this is the most even match up of the playoffs so far. Both defensive minded, fast puck movement, neutral zone clogging, Both play transition game, both capitalize on turnovers, both play a patience game, both protect the lead very well.... It's ike a carborn copy.
  20. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. here are the facts ------------------------------- Devils like to play defensive game - specifically the trap - some people find that to be boring. Brodeur had some domestic problems - he decided to make them public Madden quotes were from a live interview and everybody heard what he said. The guy is just airing your dirty laundry, that's all - but everything I read in that article seems true to me - there is nothing that's fabricated.
  21. sundstrom: Spezza is still with Ottawa but he hasn't played in the playoffs yet, he asked to be sent down to the minors to help the farm team in two games to shake off some rust, but he came back after that. He was supposed to Replace Van Hallen in the final game against Flyers, but it was decided after warm up that Van Hallen would go instead. Therefore, Spezza has not seen any playoff action so far, which is a shame because he is very deadly on the power plays.
  22. I am a SENS fan, but I have to say I am very suprised how you guys have started to complain very early in the game. This is the playoffs, no one has advantage. What I say here as a fan does not matter, what matters is what happens on the ice. I have seen a lot of posts how the SENS don't have heart, how the devils have the best defense etc, but I am not complaining because I know that is what they believe, but it means absolutely nothing if all these trash talk does not correspond to whats happening on the ice. It always better to have both sides of the story no matter how biased. I may be biased as a SENS fan, but I don't discount what the devil fans say about their team because that's what makes hockey great.
  23. MaddDog: Your point is well taken: I agree Gomer, Friesen, and Elias can turn on the jets, but the point I was trying to make is that ever since Mogilny left, Gomez has not been the same. Same case with Elias, ever since Sykora and Arnot left, he's not been the same either. I also follow the Devils games and one thing I can say is that, Arnot, Elias, and Sykora line used to be one of the best in the league at one time. Gomez connected very well with Moginly. All these guys have proven that they can be top players, whether they can do it now with their current line mates, is something that remains to be seen. But don't get me wrong, there are a lot of other guys that can pick up the slack, the question is, who will do it every night? they can just count on one or two guys.
  24. I know madden can turn on the Jets, especially in short handed situations. But you have to admit that even though he is playing well right now, he has not matured to become a guy who can carry the whole team in his shoulder. Ottawa is in the same situation too, there is no one player who can be designated as a "go to guy" but they have a lot of dangerous skilled guys who can do it for the team at any given moment - that's the advantage they have - Colorado used to have these kind of guys a few years back - when they had Drury, hedjuk, Tanguay who were not yet superstars but they can kill you, if you give them time and space. We have guys like that, in Martin Havlat, Mike Fisher, White, Schaffer, and Spezza. You can shut down Alfredsson, Hossa, Bonk, or Smolinski but you can't shut all of them off at the same time unless you have unbelievable defense. Even though I am a sens Fan, I am a hockey fan first, and I have to admit Madden is a very good player but he is not up to that level yet where he can carry the team by himself. Gomez was a good player when he was a rookie, but he is more of a setup guy. Langebruner, is probably having the best playoffs he has ever had - but no one knows for sure how long he can carry on - on thing I can say about him is the fact that the type of defense he faced against Tampa and Boston is not the same as the defense he will face against Ottawa, we have a very deep defense - very close to the devils if not better. Neuwndyke has to pick up his game and your defense has to be very sharp. The trapping game won't work this time because we play it just as well as you do, in fact we used to be accused of it, untill you guys eliminated Toronto, and that's when the Toronto media Transfered it from us to you. I think this is the most evenly matched Series of the playoffs. Either team can not afford turnovers. As I said, the biggest advantage you guys have is Brodeur. If we can figure out his weaknesses then this thing is over. I am not couting out the devils offense, but, it seems to me that they don't score many goals but they are good in defending. If our defense was weak, then I would say you guys have the edge, but this is the deepest, and biggest group of defensemen we've ever had in the playoffs. But, with the playoffs anything can happen.
  25. I agree stevens is not an easy guy to play against, but at the same time I don't think he will enjoy playing against varada every night. One guy to watch out for on the blue line for Ottawa is the rookie Anton Volchenkov - if this guy catches you with your head down - its game over. For Ottawa, there are two guys that I think stevens is going to catch, and that's Havlat and Todd White. Other than that, I don't see him knocking the lights out of anybody. For New Jersey, I think, Gomez, Brylin, Madden, or Neuwndyke is going to be the recipient of a massive hit.
