  1. That's fair, Tri. I'm looking beyond the goal-scoring though. He gave Lemieux NOTHING in 2000. Did a pretty good job on Modano, too and he played well in 2001 and 2002 also. I'm sorry if it looks like I'm making Holik out to be some kind of god, I don't mean to. But dismissing him as a third-line mucker burns me up. Because it's far from reality.
  2. No NewarkDevil! No, no, no, no, no, no! Holik had something like seven points in seven games during the Pittsburgh series in 1999. He also smothered Lemieux in 2000, made a HUGE impact as a Crash Liner in 1995, and would have been the Conn Smythe winner in 2001 had the Devils won it all. Not a playoff performer my ass. And you people call yourselves Devil fans. It's disgraceful! It's OK. Be mad that he went to the Rangers. That's fine. Try to remember the past with some objectivity though. Holik wasn't some spare part for 10 years.

    Grier A Cap

Tri, From what I've been reading, Marchant (another third liner) is out the door, too. Grier's PIMs are pretty low. He's not a guy who plays on the edge (maybe he should be), but he's pretty tough along the boards and hard to move in front of the net. .....and I just have to laugh at you people who call Bobby Holik a third-line player. What a joke.
  4. Captain Scotty, You already lost me when you mentioned Holik in the same breath as Mogilny. Holik is one of the best playoff performers to ever wear the Devil uniform. He ALWAYS showed up for the playoffs, even when the team bowed out in the first round against teams like Pittsburgh and Carolina. Mogilny was here two years and didn't score much in the playoffs. He can't wear Holik's jock, mainly because Mogilny has no balls. I know that's not going to be a popular statement, but I don't care. When the stakes were high, poor little Alex didn't show. And don't go acting like Mogilny didn't chase a pile of cash. He did. Most of the players do.

    Grier A Cap

Yes, I would trade Brylin for Grier, and it's not because I don't like Brylin. Grier is tough as nails, and has some scoring ability. We don't have many guys like that. And it's an even trade. Our third-liner for theirs. But the point is moot. The Caps already got him for picks, which is a good deal for Washington.
  6. Lou is OBVIOUSLY talking about Claude Lemieux. You don't regret small potatoes like Willie Mitchell/Sean O'Donnell or Deron Quint. And I'm glad Lamoriello made the headcase Mogilny take the NJ discount. F- him.

  8. I guess we're talking strictly physical defensemen? I like all these guys better than D Hatcher. Pronger, Blake, Foote, Norstrom, Chelios, Zhitnik, Witt, J Smith, Stevens, Kasparaitis, Klemm. Hell, I like Matvichuk, a Hatcher teammate, better!

    Grier A Cap

Hell, yeah, I'd rather have Anson Carter because he's better than Grier. But I wish we had Grier......I would have traded Brylin to get him, if the Oilers were so inclined.
  10. Too expensive #32. The Devils could get more bang for their buck elsewhere. I don't think Hatcher is as good as you think he is. He's living off reputation now. Somebody mentioned Zhitnik.......get me THAT guy!!!
  11. Who's Bobby Ore? You all want trade talk? Well, I've got a feeling the Lecavalier one won't go away, and the Devils will be right in the thick of those rumors.
  12. Derian Hatcher = overrated Colin White is almost as good already.
