Work on your skating. If possible, hire a skating tutor and work at it to the point where you're so fast and agile that even if the bigger players want to check you they can't catch you. Also, keep your head up and on a swivel looking not only for players trying to check you but players to pass to and plays opening up. Play penalty kills and use your speed to beat the powerplay pointment to cleared pucks for breakaways.

As said, always have your head up, and you really need to keep tabs on whats going on around you, where all players are. Being able to read a play and putting yourself into positions where you cant be hit is also good, use your smarts and speed. The other thing, never stop moving your feet, as soon as you do, especially with the puck it makes yourself a lot easier to hit. Also, never get intimidated. Getting hit doesnt hurt that much and when it does happen just jump up and get back into the play. Being the guy that plays more aggressive and initiated the contact is another good way not to get rattled that many times. Most players unless they have played other contact sports still arent used to that much hitting, so if you are aggressive its to your advantage. But really the two most important are keeping your head up and skating, not just speed but strength on your feet. Those 2 will keep you out of trouble.
