HarbingerOfSorrow
We can only hope big brother didn't get all the hockey talent in the family.
SueNJ97
Geez, if we were going to trade w/the 'Nucks for an NHLer's younger brother, why couldn't Lou have gotten Fedor Fedorov?
westcoastdevfan
Maybe Lou believes a bunch of tiny forwards will equal one big one. Seriously, I think this trade was made to bolster Albany only. Kariya has no chance of skating with the big club.
Belizarius
I agree, it's an AHL trade. Last games, Albany dressed 9 forwards only, with injuries and called-up... Defense is full : They can bring back Phil Cole from ECHL, and have just to wait for DeMarchi next year (U.Minnesota, senior) ; Hale, Martin (N.Dakota/Minnesota, junior years) Kadeykin and Chvatal in 2...(Sarnia, OHL) I also read on hockeysfuture that Martin could leave U.Minnesota in june, without playing his senior year. we'll see... Steve Kariya had the same attitude than Schaefer, he was not happy in Vancouver and requested a trade. Hopefully, he could help Albany, and why not shining in NHL one day?! everything is possible... NJDF
Was this trade to set up another trade sending Brylin or GIonta somewhere? GO DEVILS!!
Elias Sports Bureau
This trade is for the Rats, who had seen their offense dwindle. Kariya is a career AHLer. However, if they did have in mind bringing him up, it certainly would seem that Gionta would be heading out... Brylin will NOT be heading out.
