RowdyFan42
http://www.canoe.ca/AHL/News/2004/03/12/380181.html Nearly 16 years after his last appearance in the American Hockey League, Albany assistant coach Gates Orlando suited up for the River Rats in their 5-2 loss at Syracuse on Friday night. The 41-year-old Orlando, who won a Calder Cup championship with Rochester in 1987, was pressed into action after recalls and injuries left the River Rats shorthanded. Even with Orlando in uniform, Albany dressed only 16 skaters, one under the limit. Wearing number 25, Orlando was held scoreless and was a minus-4 in the game. He played parts of five AHL seasons with Rochester from 1984-88, then spent several seasons in Italy and Switzerland before retiring. Orlando is in his second season as an assistant in Albany. Fidgetess
Just goes to show how thin the Rats have become over the years. This is the second time this season we've had to use an assistant coach as a player. I'll bring my camera to today's game though, in case he's in the lineup again. NewarkDevil5
Yes, but last time was Terreri and he's just plain fun to watch I wish he actually got into a game.
Fidgetess
Apples and oranges, I know, but I was just making a point B) Gates didn't play tonight, but we (thankfully) got a call-up from Adirondack, Frank Littlejohn. I don't know about his stats this year, but last year he had 75 GP, 30 G, 26 A, 306 PIM!!!
njdevils2003champs
Didn't another coach or something suit up in 95-96 and an relative of the equipment manager in 97-98? Just wondering who they were.

Fidgetess
Wow, this thread is out of the archives... The equipment guy's name was Kevin something. I think it started with Mc___, but I can't be sure. We also had a one-eyed accountant as back up for a game or two a while back. Delmore? Del-something.
