  1. That team with Clemmensen played way over it's head. They started coming back down to earth towards the end of that, and Clemmensen was showing why he had never been a starter. The consistency that Brodeur brings doesn't just happen. That's a rarity. Most goalies will peak and valley much more dramatically than Brodeur.
  2. Adding Price and a solid d-man won't help a team that had no heart. It's easy to blame Marty, but this team will be a mess when he is gone. This is so true. I just don't find the Giguere style impressive. Half the time these overstuffed goalies have no idea where the puck is.
  3. True, Halak's defense is playing great, but it's something special to stop 131 of 134 shots (or something like that) in three games of the first round while having your back against the wall. Game 1 this round wasn't too great, but he made lots of rebound and scramble saves in Game 2. His ability to get across the crease so quick is impressive. Game 6 of the first round was one of the best goaltending displays you are going to see. Granted, Montreal has tightened up and is playing like a TEAM (see that, Devils?) but he still made 53 saves, many of the difficult variety. I'm just saying not just any goalie could have done that. Howard and Nabokov are doing well, but they have more talented teams in front of them.
  4. He tried to steal a few games this year, but no one else seemed to be in the mood. You can't steal a game with out scoring. So if you trade Brodeur for scoring, who plays goal? You think a couple of goal scorers with Yann Danis in net wins a cup? And goaltending is "vastly overrated"? Someone tell Halak.
  5. You can't win if the team only scores 1 goal a game. Brodeur played fine in the playoffs this year, and the Devils just couldn't score. Again.
  6. He's always had it out for the noobs, but Par99 seems to have incurred his full wrath.
  7. Gretzky got traded in the prime of his career because Edmonton was afraid they couldn't afford his next contract. It's a different situation.
  8. He was called up when Spacek was ill. This guy is the real deal. Needs to work on his defense a little still, but he has the goods. I saw him in the AHL. He has a sick breakaway move, too.
  9. You would seriously be ok with the team in the hands of Schneider or Harding? What you are overlooking is the slumps they would go through. Marty went through a slump this year (as most goalies do) and half the fan base jumped off a bridge.
  10. Yeah, it's definitely happening more often. Funny, though... in the 40's, 50's, 60's, the teams would always rely on one goalie. Then as recent as the early 00's, starters would play about 60-65 games, and now we seem to be getting back to the way it was.
  11. Trade Brodeur. From the fan base that brought you Keep Brylin. This is why NHL teams are not a democracy.
  12. Oh, I agree. I would like him playing maybe 5-7 less games a year, but if he can play like he did this year then let him play.
  13. Eh, the Rags, Flames, Aves, Sharks, Coyotes, Kings, Canucks and Sabres all pretty much rely on one goalie.
  14. I don't know if Danis would want to come back. I like him a lot, but if he can find a team that will let him play I'd expect him to go there.
  15. I don't think people are saying he used his face on purpose as much as that he cared to give his body to block a shot. No one takes a puck to the dome on purpose.
  16. Here are the upcoming UFA goalies... (list only includes players who were on an NHL roster at some point this season) UFA Goalies WADE DUBIELWICZ!!! Sorry, I love that guy. Well, for Marty back up it's probably between... Dan Ellis, Hedberg, Joey MacDonald, Dubie, Niittymaki (in line for a raise though), Mike Brodeur(!!), Yann Danis, Raycroft, Leighton (also due for a raise). With some of the names there, it wouldn't shock me to see them let McKenna have a shot and give Frazee a chance to right himself in the AHL. I don't think Frazee ever recovered from that throat slash he got in the preseason.
  17. Even crazier, he took a puck to the face earlier this season, too. So even after that, he wasn't too gun shy to do it again. What a tough mofo.
  18. Yeah, those commercials are great, especially the one with the Canadiens fan. "But... she's so pretty..."
  19. As usual in these situations, I will be cheering for a meteor to hit center ice. GO METEOR!!
  20. In addition to Kovalchuk walking out with the Marty sticks, I believe that was McAmmond walking out with a Kovy stick.
  21. Well, it was about that time that I realized that Devils731 was about 8 stories tall and was a crustacean from the protozoic era! And I said 'damnit lockness monstah, you get off my lawn now!! I ain't givin you no tree fiddy!!'

I think he's right, man. Lou took over for Robinson on 05-06, then fired Julien in 06-07.

Wasn't that 2005-06 you are referring to? When Lou took over for Larry Robinson? I believe Lou fired Julien at the end of 2006-07, and we played Tampa then Ottawa.
