  1. Hold on, Palat has two cups where he was a clutch performer for them and Burakovsky had his moments in the Avs cup run too and also now has two cups. While they are comparable, they would both end up with 5-7 million on the UFA market and if not resigned. I'm not saying I want them, but they both have more playoff pedigree and experience than Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier combined at this point. I think they both play both wings and would be noticeable improvements over guys like Tatar and Zacha. I just wouldn't want to pay them what the market is going to value them at.
  2. There is a great write up here. https://www.allaboutthejersey.com/2022/7/8/23200171/new-jersey-devils-trade-37th-70th-overall-washington-goaltender-vitek-vanecek-46th-overall His numbers do get better when you look at his even strength save percentage, but his numbers take pretty mean drop when out there on PK and PP for that matter. So those numbers are the big question mark for me with him. His 5v5 play looks great. As for what WSH was thinking? Other than having their answer already in the organization? Maybe one of the coaching staff or management soured on him for some reason. Maybe not. I wasn't impressed with Samsonov when he played against New Jersey or when he played in the playoffs. Maybe they think he's the next Shesterkin and it makes Vanacek moveable. There's a player who's name rhymes with Orsberg that WSH traded for Marty Erat, but they also gave us Siegenthaler too.
  3. I was really liking what I read on a Hugo Havelid who has a twin brother defenseman. Anybody happen to hear if he was taken? Little undersized, but played for Sweden in U20s I think. Brother Mathias was taken by SJ. Goalie Hugo was undrafted unless someone takes him with the last few picks.
  4. Fitz was able to bring a pick back too which doesn't weaken us in this draft.
  5. Goalies are such a coin toss. I would hope goalie scouting is evolving a little bit, but I tend to lean towards durability and endurance as huge factors. If you have a Vasilevskiy, but doesn't start 80% of the time due to injury, it's simply not the same player. Blackwood seems to get hurt a lot even without COVID protocols.
  6. Ah, they only gave up a single pick for Husso though. Maybe not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things
  7. Looking now, but where did Husso end up? EDIT: Detroit. Wow. Didn't expect that.
  8. I like the move. He's looked good for WSH and now we actually have goalie competition. BLACKWOOD V. VANACEK THIS FALL. Make or break time for Mac. I hope he wins, but let's figure it out.
  9. Hopefully we get to see him sooner rather than later.
  10. Cry about it some more. I think gay people are a lot stronger than you give them credit for, but okay. This just tells me that you probably don't know that many gay people. Also school tends to be the only place that a child tends to experience violence on average in their entire lifetime. This isn't something to be proud of.
  11. Signal harder. I was definitely trying to insult all gay people by talking colloquially, but thankfully you are on patrol for the good of the board. All of a sudden I remember why I stopped posting here. lol
  12. fvck that sh!t. Chest ads are gay. I was really irritated that the sponsors went up on the helmets. This is encroaching on what used to be "team space" on a jersey as opposed to ad space. Ads on the players/jerseys is a step towards being Europe. That being said, Nemec is said to have hockey IQ comparable to Hedman per the guy who predicted Nemec to Jersey.
  13. Yeah, that is a pretty young and deep d-corps.
  14. Hey, I like the pick, I think Wright didn't address a need the same way that Nemec did. I like the kid and I like what I am hearing. Top 2 potential and I'm pleasantly surprised. Let's give the kid a shot to do his thing.
  15. I am thinking if Slaf is gone number #1 and the Devil's really want to move the pick, I think we see Pasta to NJ. Bruins want in first round. Bruins see Wright as a Bergeron replacement perhaps if they are going full rebuild.
  16. I am not a huge JT Miller fan. Was he playing with Petterson all year? I want to say 99 points is a fluke, but 99 is a lot of points.
  17. NHL Network guy just mentioned that the CHI Blackhawks are in full rebuild mode and they are unlikely to qualify Dylan Strome and will be looking to move his rights. I talked to some guys on Reddit who are talking JT Miller trade with NJ and VAN. 99 points on the year on a bubble VAN team.
  18. Somebody knows somebody. I just heard Gauthiers short interview on NHL network. Very very confident kid. Seems like decent consolation if you are not lined up for Wright or Slaf
  19. I have always been on Zacha's bandwagon and thought it was nice giving another Czech a shot, but it's time to move on. Last year was kind of make or break for his top 6 chances. I think he's looking at 3.5m a year if he accepts the Devil's QO as RFA. Im ready to eat crow and if he becomes a perennial 30 goal scorer on some other team and makes the magic 6m a year but from what we've seen him for a few years, I'm alright moving on.
  20. Georgiev is someone I thought the Devils could give a look to to give a good shot, but great move by the Aves. They will go with Georgiev and Francouz if Kuemper is out and that seems like a strange move, but COL and TB pro scouts have been hitting it out of the park recently. I was looking at Francouz for us possibly too, but Sakic is taking a risk here. I'd be fine with giving a shot to any of Husso, Campbell, or Kuemper.
  21. Or Wright takes it. Why pay Zacha 3.5-4 mil a year when Wright can likely do it better and for his cheapest years if we are talking either top six or 3C for Wright. Slaf just so nicely slots in as top six RW, even if we have to wait another year or two on him or we have Shango and Mercer to play on that side with Holtz on the way. Pretty deep. I don't think I remember the Devil's being that deep on RWs ever. Wright can play wing too likely. He's a right shot.
  22. I just don't see how you pass up on Wright if he falls to #2. Move Mercer to RW. Start him at 3C. Let the three of them battle it out for where they get slotted. Make one of them trade bait later on.
  23. Hopefully they show Dougie their rings.
