Sometimes the 'hockey Gods" can be creul to Buffalo, but there hasnt been much to cheer about the past few years being a Sabres fan, I just ask for Mission 8S to become a reality, the franchise and the players have been through a rough run with last year and all and just making the playoffs would be like a Stanley Cup for me as a fan... Cmon Canes and Flyers (kills me to root for Philly, but I must) and lets go Sabres!!

Right now Id agree with '7' and say the Islanders will get the 8th seed, the Isles are really struggling but still lead by 4...law of averages suggest the Isles will start to win again soon HUGE key is tonight and Saturday...if the Sabres can somehow, someway win at Boston (Sabres have had a real hard time with Boston so far) and even if the Islanders can lose or tie, if it gets down to 2 or 3 pts with the Sabres having more wins, then Ill start REALLY thinking they can pull it off.... Just MAKING the playoffs is my "Lord Stanley" to be honest, I dont even dare to dream about the real Cup...as a matter of fact I have beat around an idea of making a copper colored Cup and if the Sabres qualify for the playoffs, Ill parade around my apartment with the Cup, heck, Ill even engrave the players names on it!! All together now!!! LETS GO SABRES!!!!

The reason you hear these kind of comments from several writers is because they DO NOT want to cover hockey for whatever reason...why, not enough Ray Lewis types in the NHL for you??? Is the game too complicated for these pea-brains? Cmon already, if you are paid to write ot talk about Sports on a Sports Radio Station, to me it is almost your OBLIGATION to know the major sports...like Mike and the Mad Dog...they dont know hockey, but its called SPORTS radio...why not call it Mike and the Mad Dog on Sports Radio 660, W-We Select the Fans...yes Russo and Mike attempt to talk hockey and they are honest about their lack of knowledge...but to me, your making a million AND your radio station covers a NHL team??? While I do agree Derek21 that NHL players are well spoken and overall 'nicer' then the other sports as a whole, in todays sports medis (ESPN being front and center) nice things WILL NOT get the attention of a network as eveil as they are.... NHL needs: 1. More Rodman-type players 2. Sprinkle in a Ray-Lewis type story 3. Players need to make Rap, R&B CD's and enteroragues for players 4. More trash talking by all players Do all these things NHL, and you will be the twinkle in Dan Patrick's eye!!! What a joke

Ill say this much, wasnt it in 2000 when the Devils slumped bad at the end of the year and they looked dead to rights? And like Lazarus, they rose from the dead and won the Cup? From this vantage point as a non-Devils fan: Until someone beats them, they are the favorites and a MAJOR threat to every other team in the playoffs

Unfortunately he will go down as what-might-have-been when thinking of Eric over his whole career, but now its to a point where he has to think about his future, away from hockey. And he is so passionate about hockey Im sure its hard for him to even think like a normal person, hockey has been front and cetner in his life for God knows how long...its gotta be so so hard to walk away.... Seeing what has happened to guys like Eric Lindros, Pat LaFontaine, Troy Aikman and Al Toon in football, makes you realize how much risk these athletes really take, even with all the money they make...

My feeling is this, noboby will ever be completely happy with this ruling, because everyone is mad right now, you hear it in JD's voice, Darren Pang, and others, this was a horrible incident... I bet if you ask any NHL player though "Would you rather be suspended for 40, 50 regular season games, or suspend for 13 + the entire NHL playoffs, Id be willing to bet most would take the 40, 50 in the regular season, and I bet Bertuzzi's teammates deep down inside are very disappointed in the fact that he has probably cost them any chance of making a deep run in the postseason, that and that fact Todd's image is destroyed are more severe then the actual suspension IMO.

Well the Devils did make a couple of moves, just not on trade deadline day, but still I agree, I was shocked the Devils didnt pick up a defenseman (especially $h!tnik, I thought him or Satan were as good as gone)...but being a non-Devils fan, they are the favorites till someone beats them, case closed.. Maybe the fact the Devils didnt get a D guy may be a sign that Scott Stevens will come back soon?

I was at a bar/Restaurant yesterday with my wife at 6pm and they had on SportsCenter (thats the only way I watch that god awful show now anymore)...and when I saw that Bertuzzi was the lead story, it just made me realize even more just how much I despise ESPN, and to me, I could care less what they ever have to say about the NHL, ever... ESPN is all about sensation, all about big hits, bad things, etc etc...Bertuzzi is one of the ugliest incidents the NHL has ever seen, and NOW finally ESPN has something to say about the NHL? Give me a break already...I PRAY for the day ESPN loses the NHL, I hate having to resort to watching a game on their network...Id rather fire up nhl.com, pull up the Sabres game for example, and hear Rick Jennerant, or Doc give me the play by play then to watch some of these clowns on ESPN... Just imagine if there were more Bertuzzi incidents...imagine if there was more trash talking...imagine if there was more controversy...more drug busts....more players getting away with murders...maybe an NHL player should take out a few shapries after they score a goal...dare to dream NHL, do more bad things like this and ESPN will give you all the coverage you want!! Whachoo talkin' about Willis? Bell Globalmedia owns about 70% of TSN, as last I heard.... I thought I heard somewhere that ESPN owns about 20% of TSN.
