  1. Feels like overpayment on first glance, but looking at it deeper, obviously Chicago wants the cup and were going to have a late 1st anyway. Dahlbeck is replaceable. Definitely a seller's market though. The 1st is obviously where I say overpayment, but who knows what the late 1st round is going to look like.
  2. Turned the page on the calendar they gave out a few months ago and its Havlat and Zidlicky for March, and both may be gone by March 2nd. lolz
  3. One thing is certain: Clarkson still falls and complains with the elite of the NHL.
  4. Havlat scratched tonight. McKenzie seems to think its asset protection. Very possible of course.
  5. Why would we want Sharp? He's older than Cammalleri and doesn't get us any younger which is a real issue. Sharp for Cammalleri is a lateral move. They need Sharp going into the playoffs just as much as they need someone for Kane. I don't think there's really much of a chance we trade Camm, but if we did Id ask for Teravainen, 1st in 2015, 2nd in 2016, and we'd probably have to take a roster player (i.e. Oduya) making a few million back to make the money work unless they found another deal first. And I could see them making a move like this (not for Cammalleri necessarily) for the playoff run, they can worry about trading off Sharp or another $ player in the offseason to get under the cap. I just dont think its realistic at the end of the day and Im not advocating it at all, but if it was to happen I ask for a lot.
  6. One of the Chicago Tribune beat writers tossed his name out as one of the players the Hawks were looking at.
  7. It'd not be a surprise really. If Zidlicky is unwilling to waive his NTC then its a non-starter.
  8. Yea at this point definitely. Timonen hasnt played at all this year and gets a 2nd + another pick.
  9. Flyers traded Timonen to the Hawks for a 2nd in 2015 and a conditional 2016 pick (dunno the conditions).
  10. We're permanently members of the Traveling Jagr's!!!
  11. 2-3, depending on if Lou is still GM then. I think Columbus buys him out at some point, but its not advantageous financially for at least a few years.
  12. I wouldnt say it's because we're not stupid. I don't think Columbus is stupid here. The difference between us and Columbus is that we spend closer to the cap and obviously have more financial flexibility. They don't. The $5M they were paying Horton obviously was hurting them financially b/c it was for nothing. The cap space isn't valuable to them in the first place. Getting Clarkson back gives Columbus more flexibility in the long run. Horton provided nothing to them in terms of value for the $ other than LTIR cap relief which they didn't need/use because they're in a different financial situation than the Leafs who bleed money and don't bat an eye. Even after this deal, Columbus still has more cap space than us. I wouldnt wanted to have done this deal even for Clowe. I want nothing to do with Clarkson's absurd contract.
  13. They have to pay his salary, so saying its nothing is a bit of a stretch. They were paying Horton for doing nothing (it just didnt count against the cap). Obviously the actual money is more important to Columbus than Toronto which is of no surprise. Paying Horton's contract with nothing to show for it had to hurt. Now they have options with Clarkson at least. They had none with Horton since Columbus is not a cap team. He had a limited one. He had 14 teams he could be traded to.
  14. LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Stealing this.
  15. This does work out for both teams in a lot of ways. Obviously, Toronto gets out from under that honker of a contract and clear up a bunch of space. They can afford to pay Horton to do nothing without blinking. Columbus now get out from under Horton, where the "real money" likely hurts them more than it would a major market like Toronto and they get Clarkson in there who may play better in a smaller market so they're at least getting some sort of return for that $. Plus, Columbus can always buy Clarkson out in the summer if they desire. I doubt they will this offseason, but they have that option. They didn't have that with Horton. I think Toronto wins for obvious reasons, but the positives for Columbus are there. Clarkson really may just need to get away from that madness to find his game again.
  16. This is fvcking ridiculous. And you DESERVE to be flamed for this. It's near-sighted worrywort garbage. Needless to say: absolutely not. Guys like Cory do not grow on trees. And wtf are you talking about 3-4 years? He's 28 and goaltender is one position that guys can still play at a high level for a long time. You also seem to completely forget the fact that he does not have tons of miles on him. His highest GP before he came here was 33 games. He's got a lot of mileage left on him. Guys like Roy, Marty, Belfour, and Hasek all played at a very high level until later in their careers and obviously there's plenty of names I'm not mentioning. Hell, Marty won the Vezina at 36 if we want to keep a NJ perspective. Goaltenders are not forwards, they dont have to worry as much about things like concussions and things that significantly can shorten a career or turn them into liabilities. Trading him for "assets" now would be absolutely insane. He's proven himself over the last 2 seasons here to be one of the elite players at his position. What sort of assets are you asking for? Picks that are nothing more than a lottery ticket and could bust? Unproven prospects? We have a surefire elite goaltender for the next 5-10 years. 10 may be pushing it, but its certainly likely to be double your estimation. We dont have to worry about grooming anyone or hoping a "chance" on another goaltender works out. We are set at the position for a significant amount of time and more than enough that hes still playing at an elite level by the time the franchise is back to being contenders.
  17. They didnt waste any time
  18. Thing is with this perspective, is you're assuming that it matters that much to Zidlicky. He may be content where he is and not want to move just to win. Apparently, he was quoted or it was rumored or something or another that he wasn't interested in waiving it. I don't think there is a direct quote, but Im not sure. There is reasoning behind some stating it though.
  19. Yea, Im with this, but this is a start.
  20. Its not supposedly. We get the 2nd this year and a choice of a 3rd in 2016.
  21. #NJDevils acquire Florida’s 2nd-rd pick in 2015 & New Jersey's option of Florida or Minnesota’s 3rd-rd selection in 2016 for Jaromir Jagr.
