Anhkheg
This guy is supposed to be a really good player who came with Friesen and Tivo. Any idea where he is now? http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/player_bio.asp...=700&hubName=NJ
Triumph
Who cares.. Balmochyknykh is done with hockey in North America, he has never had any kind of success on this side of the Atlantic.. he is probably playing in Russian hockey somewhere.. I thought maybe Lou intended to try to lure him back over to this side this summer but nothing came of it.. unless he has the talent of one of the great Russian players, it is unlikely he will come over again and have any kind of success. DevilMinder
Haven't heard about him since the trade we got him in! Maybe he is still retired?
Triumph
The only reason he is considered "retired" is because he walked out on his AHL team before the end of the season.. I can't imagine he isn't playing somewhere in Russia, unless his mob ties are even greater than suspected..
tevyfan
Last I heard of him, he was playing hockey in some league in Russia. I don't know at what though. And I'll be quiet honest here and say that I never heard his name associated with the Russian mob. Heard of Bure, Fetisov, Tverdovsky (although for him it was under very unfortunate circumstances), but Balmo..
insanity_gallops
Balmo was thrown in the deal just because Anaheim wanted to unload him, I think. I doubt Lou ever expected him to have a shot at the big team, but was willing to take him if it meant the rest of the deal could go through.
