-12 for Elias, explain...

I am a lurker obviously, but why is Elias -12, leading the team?

Parise leads the team in +, I thought Elias played decent defense?

I can't see every game being upstate dealing with blackouts, but from what I have seen he's played well, is it just a coincidence he plays bad defensively when I don't watch?

Please explain, Elias has been a great scoring/decent defensive forward for years, what's going on this year?

A few things are contributing to this.

1 - all the short handed goals given up. Elias is on the ice for almost all of them.

2 - Scott Gomez's poor play. The defensive zone coverage just hasn't been there for #23 this season.

3 - Elias has not scored very much even strength, nor have his linemates. Even in a normal season, he'd probably be a minus because of how few times he's gotten on the board.
