NBA 2008 Playoffs

I don't know if any of you care or not but the playoffs are the only NBA basketball I really watch.

I do these same type of threads for the AHL and ECHL playoffs so I figured I'd give it a shot and do it for the NBA this year.

Is anyone watching at all? The first game of the San Antonio-Phoenix series was crazy. I hate San Antonio but that 3 pointer by Duncan with seconds remaining in the 1st OT was insane. I would like to see Phoenix or Dallas win it all.

Philadelphia was the only road team to win game 1.

Anyone know why Houston has 4 home games when Utah was the higher seed?

I figured out my own question. Utah was 54-28 and Houston was 55-27 so since Houston had a better record they received home court, the only thing I think is stupid is they still gave Utah the 4th seed and Houston the 5th seed. I think it should have just been the opposite way around than if they are going to give Houston home court.

Right now it looks like San Antonio and the LA lakers look to be the best teams in the playoffs. Boston and Detroit has shown they can be beat so the winner I think this season will be either the Spurs or Lakers. The Lakers look to be the best just totally romping the Nuggets in the 1st round. The WC is the dominant conference.

Even though the other 3 matchups for the semifinals are set don't forget there is a huge game 7 tomorrow between Boston and Atlanta. The home teams have won every game in that series and with the game being in Boston that means they are due to win but I'm going for Atlanta just cause Boston deserves to lose in everything.

Detroit vs. LA in the NBA Finals this year.

LA wins the Championship.

It would be nice to see Boston/LA which were great Finals matchups in years past and have not met since 1986 when it was Bird vs. Magic. Boston cannot win on the road and think Detroit will win the ECF. LA has never lost to San Antonio in the WCF so LA should win this series with some ease.

WOW! What a Game 1 between the Spurs and Lakers in the WCF!

Spurs were up 65-45 on the Lakers more than halway thru the 3rd quarter around 5:45 left to go in the 3rd and the Lakers come from behind to win 89-85 to take Game 1 in LA. Lakers coach Phil Jackson is 40-0 when his teams win Game 1 and that is one sick stat. Lakers look to be back to those glory years and the three-peat years with Bryant. They look to be the best right now in these playoffs. Tough loss for the Spurs.

In the ECF the Celtics took Game 1 over the Pistons.

Good game tonight in the ECF between the Pistons and Celtics.

Celtics lose Game 2 at home 103-97 and the series is tied at 1-1 going to Detroit on Saturday for Game 3. This was the Celtics first loss at home in the playoffs. Now they must win at least a game in Detroit where the Celtics have not won on the road at all in these playoffs (0-6). This was a big win for the Pistons on the road.

Lakers blow out the Spurs in Game 2: 101-71. Lakers take the 2-0 series lead now going to SA for Games 3 and 4. Game 3 on Sunday @ 8:30 p.m.

Lakers led this whole game wire to wire and it is the third time in their last four playoff games they have led wire to wire. They look to be the best team in these playoffs right now. The Spurs look tired and old and cannot keep up with the Lakers. It could be a short series here and a possible sweep by the Lakers if both teams play the way they are playing.

There will be a new NBA Champion this season. The Lakers beat the Spurs 93-91 to take a commanding 3-1 series lead in the WCF where the Lakers can wrap it up in LA on Thursday night in Game 5. Lakers again led from beginning to end and almost let Game 4 slip away. They were up big by 14-points early and late up 9-points then they let the Spurs almost comeback in the end. Lakers go home for Game 5 where they have not lost in these playoffs this season at home (7-0) won 18 of their last 21 at home look to end the defending champion Spurs who look tired and old after Game 4. Bryant for sure is the MVP this season no doubt after this series. Lakers up 3-1 and have the Spurs on the ropes.

The NBA is going to have a new Champion for sure this season and it looks like the Lakers.

Lakers wrap up the series and the defending champion Spurs in 5-games by winning Game 5: 100-92 in LA. Lakers were down 17-points in the 1st half and cameback and won again to win the series 4-1. The Lakers will be going to their 29th NBA Finals and they will face the winner of the Celtics/Pistons series where the Celtics are up 3-2 with Game 6 in Detroit tomorrow night.
